Following its huge Xbox, PC launch at the start of this year, Pocketpair has revealed the PS5 port of Palworld is indeed happening... and it's out today. There's no PS Store listing at the time of writing, but with a price of £24.99 / $29.99 on other platforms, so you can expect the same on PS5. Check out the launch trailer above.
It was thought the sudden Nintendo lawsuit may throw a spanner into the works of a PS5 announcement, but that does not appear to be the case. Sony shared the news during today's State of Play livestream, and the release is happening today. Had you been waiting for Palworld to be ported to PS5 before you started playing? Well I guess I aint sleeping tonight...
Gonna grab before Nintendo gets this one taken down lol
Please buy it. The devs need money to fight Nintendo and win
This is huge! Of course I'm buying it!
Damn, Pocketpair are brave, I'll give them that.
@Savage_Joe If the Devs knowingly broke a patent they kinda have it coming. Sucks sure maybe but Nintendo are well within their right to do this. The issue isn't Nintendo here its more that gameplay ideas can be patented that's the issue.
Gonna pick this up once the listing goes live

Well they stated from the beginning, that they got their legal asses covered. I'll be interested to see how ironclad their defenses are against a veteran like Nintendo. I'll probably check the game out if it still exists some time next year^^
If I remember correctly, this game is still on early access mode. Sony never allows early access games to be on PS store before. This is the first one that breaks the rule.
nintendo is ticked off good lol..
I'll buy it just to stick it to Nintendo
Awesome! it's a low enough price that I'm willing to give it a shot, hopefully it does well enough that Sony is willing to go to bat for Pocketpair! Well let me go buy it before Nintendo tries and suck it into the abyss.
@RagnarLothbrok I think at worst you have 2 possible scenarios: 1) the game will get delisted but you'll still be able to play it and download it like delisted games on Steam or 2) the developers will be forced to make changes to the game.
This is just my own personal guess but really it could go either way and ofc I don't know enough about what exactly Nintendo are suing them for. It's supposedly the capture mechanic but really that's just speculation at this time.
I kinda wanna buy it out of spite but if they lose, the money will just go to Nintendo 😝
Plus it doesn't look all that interesting, idk how much fun I'd really have with it
Internet anarchists go brr
@Judal27 If you like Ark I think you'll like Palworld. It's pretty grindy though so just something to keep in mind if you're thinking of buying it.
@Nowings I think it's because Sony (SonyMusic, Aniplex) themselves are in talks of providing Pocketpair a multimedia deal (merchandise, anime, etc).
@johnedwin Good! they think they can use and borrow ideas from the entire industry but if someone dares borrow from them it's lawsuit city. Most games coming out have taken something (no matter how small) from other games, that's how the games grow.
What would the Spider-Man games look like if Rocksteady had said to Insomniac "stop copying us bit**** or we'll sue you into oblivion".
Will wait for NTSCWorld, it'll be 60hz 😃
@RubyCarbuncle I've actually never played ark 😅. I've been meaning to try it some day tho. I'm a lot more interested in that game than palworld despite how janky it looks. But if palworld is ark with pokemon like monsters then it could be fun
Game Is up on store fyi
@DennisReynolds its already been explained on NintendoLife about the whole case. And supposedly, this patent (if it is EVEN THAT patent in particular) was most likely filed back in 2021 in Japan at least.
@RubyCarbuncle The capture mechanic is what is being rumored right now. That one is specifically from Legends Arceus. We don't know if it is true or not. That particular patent was supposedly filed in Japan in 2021. There are probably more patents since Nintendo did say Palworld violated multiple patents. I heard one of the patents was from BOTW/TOTK. But we don't know until we have more information.
@Nowings Actually, there has been other early access games. Dreams, Wayfinder, and I think Fortnite was technically early access on ps4.
I am downloading this right now before Nintendo (rightfully) nukes it out of existence. It will be a cool relic to hold on to like P.T.
@Jrs1 ⚰️
@Nowings That's a myth that I have no idea where it came from, there has been multiple early access games on PS before and the state of pally tonight even announced one too.
Will there be a review soon?
It seems its not being released in Japan on PS5 for the time being.
One of the most overrated games all year. It’s a pretty basic survival game with solid graphics and character designs obviously ripped off other sources (and it’s not just Pokemon). The excitement to support this one baffles me. I got a good 20-ish hours into it on Xbox and it’s ok at best. Once the novelty wears off, it’s so similar to so many other games, and the novelty is even in its reference to other games.
@DennisReynolds This isn't even an issue of right over wrong. Nintendo is very cautious and sues only when it sees a possibility of a win. Often doesn't even win, just buries the other in legal fees they can't pay.
And that's how the world of law mostly works all over the world. If you're a criminal with a lot of money, you won't be a criminal for very long. If you're poor, you'll be a criminal for a long time.
@RubyCarbuncle It doesn’t help that patent litigation is some of the most complex there is. It’s way too early to say who is right/has the best argument. I will say Nintendo generally wins because they have the law on their side, not just because they have elite lawyer money.
@DennisReynolds Or maybe dumb parents (only dumb ones) should not be allowed and big companies shouldn’t be able to patent basic ideas and stifle the rest of the industry for their own gain.
Had enough coins that I managed to pick this up for under £10, so if it's not my thing, no great loss. And the kid will no doubt enjoy it, so not a total waste.
One of those games that if I had 10 hours a week to game I might try it. But I don't, so I won't.
@IamJT Mm-hmm best thing to do is to just let them debate about it in a Court of Law. No point speculating either as we simply don't know enough about the case
Given Nintendo's track record with Lawsuits though as much as I hate to admit it I think they'll win too. If changes have to be made to the game then I'm perfectly ok with this.
I didn't fully understand the whole legal thing until I saw this pop up. Then it made perfect sense, just surprised it took Nintendo this long.
