Star Wars Outlaws PS5 PlayStation

Star Wars Outlaws dropped last week to rather mild scores across the board (at least in terms of popular video games). We awarded the game 6/10, with its mediocre combat and stealth being prime detractors. Its Metacritic aggregate lies somewhere in the mid-70s (depending on the platform), which are respectable numbers, at least in our eyes. Still, Ubisoft Massive director Julian Gerighty says he's a "little disappointed" with the game's critical reception.

Speaking to GamesRadar+, Gerighty feels like gamers on the ground are enjoying the game more than its Metacritic score suggests, and said: "I'm a little disappointed with the Metacritic; Of course, recognition from press and critics is very important to us, but players are really connecting with what we did."

Gerighty says that the team responsible feels a "level of pride, happiness, and a sense of accomplishment" for the work that went into the game. It took roughly four years to make, during which time they "literally reached for the stars".

It's not all doom and gloom, however, as Gerighty looks towards the future: "This will be a game that millions of people are going to play for years and years, and we're never going to stop improving it. Well, that's a lie – we'll probably stop improving it, but today, my mind is not on stopping improving it."
