Alongside tomorrow's Alan Wake 2: The Lake House DLC, Remedy has announced a large PS5 patch will also roll out on 22nd October 2024. Titled the Anniversary Update as the horror title nears one year on the market, the patch is designed to introduce many community requests. The biggest actually relates to the PS5 DualSense controller, where gyro aiming will now be available once the update is downloaded.
Another big feature in the Anniversary Update will be a new set of accessibility options that let you adjust the game to your preferences. Some of the settings included will be automatically completing quick-time events, switching repeated button presses to single taps, invulnerability, one-shot kills, infinite ammo, and infinite flashlight batteries. Then, the PS5 haptic feedback feature has been expanded to accompany healing items and throwables, and the X-axis can now also be inverted.
Gyro aiming allows you to aim and shoot using the motions of the PS5 controller itself, either letting you fine-tune your crosshairs as you line up a shot with the thumbsticks or controlling your aim entirely through the pad itself. The studio explained in a blog post: "You can turn the motion sensor function on and off, as well as tweak horizontal and vertical sensitivity, set gyro space, and choose whether your pitch, yaw, and roll directions are standard or inverted."
Both the update and the second Alan Wake 2 expansion, The Lake House, release for PS5 tomorrow. Are you returning to the game tomorrow for the DLC and new update? Let us know in the comments below.

I really have to start waiting a year or two to play a game. Seems the longer you wait, the better experience you can have.
@aj21009 That's why I buy games and not play them
@Czar_Khastik That’s a pro gamer move…
@TheKramer89 Finally someone who understands but most importantly, approves
That's the exact face I'd make if I saw a giant Dualsense hovering in the air next to me.
I thought the first round of DLC was rather enjoyable so I’ll likely pick this up as well. Sounds like a great update!
Couldn't care less about this game but I'm always happy to hear about Gyro Aim being added to something ^__^
I wish more games did that. Gyro aim makes games so much better for me. Granted, I was a PC and mouse/keyboard player for a long time, but I still can't properly aim with a controller. It's passable but far from great. I usually try to make up for it by strafing. Gyro almost feels like a mouse if implemented properly, Horizon FW and Helldivers 2 being the best examples I've found so far.
Will be replaying (and playing the DLC for the first time) with gyro. So so keen, I hope it becomes standard in the next few years, it's gamechanging.
"Alan Wake 2" should have added some competent screenwriting and interesting gameplay mechanics in its big anniversary update.
Returning? I never left! Cant wait for Lake House.
@Czar_Khastik Your comments are always the best, lol
They've put out a tweet showcasing the PS5 Pro improvements and it's pretty impressive, the quality of the reflections is very high, albeit at 30fps, but this is very demanding on PC too https://x.com/remedygames/status/1848378922292953391
I won't be using gyro aim but good to have the options for those that want it.
I can't wait for my copy to arrive tomorrow!! Might save it for the Pro though, only a couple more weeks now and after nearly a year another 2 weeks ain't gonna hurt!
@AlexPorto Thanks mate, appreciate it!
Came here for the news, but stayed for @Czar_Khastik's comments.
@HarmanSmith Back in the day, people used to reference tits and asses with that statement so I thank you and feel very honored that my short literature has made its way among those God-given gifts
Not at all interested in gyro aiming, but whatever makes people happy. Man, I can’t wait for the DLC. I was hoping to have reviews to read today, but I’m playing it tomorrow either way. Alan Wake 2 is my favorite game so far this generation, can’t wait for more.
Eh. The lake house dlc is out tomorrow? Heck yeah man 😆😆
@Keyblade-Dan that’s very rude
@Moj500 Sorry Alan Wake just doesn't interest me it's not my thing getting offended just because I don't care about a particular game is kinda silly dude it's not that deep 😅
@Czar_Khastik "Back in the day, people used to reference tits and asses with that statement"
Came here for the tits and ass but got you intead 😉😂
@Kidfunkadelic83 Haha yeah, unfortunately, the days have changed. Besides me replacing tits and asses, we also aim with gyro instead of sticks and need to double check if there is a disc inside a physical edition of a game.
I swear to you all, every time I see this Max Payne face, my brain just bugs, like a glitch, or something.
And then I remember that the dev' put his own face to model his hero, which is a legendary move, in my opinion.
By the way, can't wait to finally try Alan wake 2, in physical and directly on the Pro !
Gyro aiming? Like with lamb, feta cheese and tzatziki sauce? I'm in!
Now they have all expansions hopefully they will release a physical complete edition.
