Alan Wake 2 PS5

Alongside tomorrow's Alan Wake 2: The Lake House DLC, Remedy has announced a large PS5 patch will also roll out on 22nd October 2024. Titled the Anniversary Update as the horror title nears one year on the market, the patch is designed to introduce many community requests. The biggest actually relates to the PS5 DualSense controller, where gyro aiming will now be available once the update is downloaded.

Another big feature in the Anniversary Update will be a new set of accessibility options that let you adjust the game to your preferences. Some of the settings included will be automatically completing quick-time events, switching repeated button presses to single taps, invulnerability, one-shot kills, infinite ammo, and infinite flashlight batteries. Then, the PS5 haptic feedback feature has been expanded to accompany healing items and throwables, and the X-axis can now also be inverted.

Gyro aiming allows you to aim and shoot using the motions of the PS5 controller itself, either letting you fine-tune your crosshairs as you line up a shot with the thumbsticks or controlling your aim entirely through the pad itself. The studio explained in a blog post: "You can turn the motion sensor function on and off, as well as tweak horizontal and vertical sensitivity, set gyro space, and choose whether your pitch, yaw, and roll directions are standard or inverted."

Both the update and the second Alan Wake 2 expansion, The Lake House, release for PS5 tomorrow. Are you returning to the game tomorrow for the DLC and new update? Let us know in the comments below.
