Ubisoft has reduced the price of its Assassin's Creed Shadows Collector's Edition by $50 after it revealed plans to delay the game and redesign its approach to post-launch support. The French publisher is no longer doing a season pass and an early access phase, both of which was included in the price of the Collector's Edition. The grand physical version will now cost $229.99 instead of the original $279.99 pricepoint and releases on the same day as the standard edition: 14th February 2025.
The Collector's Edition's other contents — which includes a statue of protagonists Naoe and Yasuke, an art book, world map, a life-sized replica of Naoe's katana tsuba, wall scroll, and lithographs — will "mostly remain as initially advertised, though some design elements may change", Ubisoft confirmed.
Following the cancellation of the Assassin's Creed Shadows season pass, which was originally going to allow access to two expansions, the publisher shared that anyone who pre-orders the game (no matter what version) will receive its first DLC for free. All versions of the PS5 title now launch on 14th February 2025, in amongst Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and Monster Hunter Wilds.
Did you have your Collector's Edition pre-order cancelled? Will you commit to this cheaper version instead? Let us know in the comments below.

Good news, all I wanted was the statue lol
I'm trying the best to be interested in this one but I can't. I enjoyed previous AC titles but this one so far didn't catch my interest although I'm a big fan of the Japanese culture.
There are clearly drastic changes going on behind the scenes at Ubisoft, but at least some of these seem to a step in the right direction. Calling what they were offering an "early access" phase was pretty farcical, so I'm all for removing it.
Presumably this means that the price of certain other versions, such as the digital deluxe version will be adjusted as well.
This game's sales are obviously shaping up to be a disaster. Ubisoft is trying so hard to get people to buy it. Keep it a disaster.
I just recently got the email from Sony saying my Gold edition pre-order is going to be refunded soon. I honestly would consider getting this but I can't justify spending $200+ on a collectors edition of any game.
Still looking forward to Shadows though. February is going to be very busy!
Fingers crossed that all of the DLC will still be made. I bought the versions that had the season pass included in Odyssey and Valhalla and was glad to be able to.
@LiamCroft Typo in the middle there mate: "a life-sized replica of Yaoe's katana tsuba"
Do you (or anyone else for that matter!) know where I can buy this in the UK, @LiamCroft? Thank you...
@Fiendish-Beaver if only this site were based in the UK
Definitely gonna get a copy of the game on Day 1
Preorders were solid before the delay. Question is if it's still the same.
To put things in perspective, this special edition cost 1/3 of a PS5 Pro. What’s the best investment?
I hope that this flop will force Ubisoft to try and appeal to gamers again. The rumors about AC Hexe are... let's just say that even Ubisoft knows everyone will be pissed.
@B0udoir property
Why do people want it to flop, this is something I want, so I hope it doesn't flop. I'd only get it on steam tho, so I might not be able to get it on launch, unless they bring it to steam on day 1.
Hard to read this piece of news and not think that they are readjusting their reality.
This game NEEDS more work to be accepted by gamers. It is NOT going to sell as well as projected when funding for this game was settled, and therefore the DLC (some of it may be included in the main game after all) are brought down in scope and vision (or the petty vision they had was shot down).
Also, I think they may be wrong in creating a lumbersome character for a game that requires feline agility and finesse. If 50 per cent of the game is wrong DNA, then people will feel like they wasted time on perfecting the true Assassin's Creed experience.
Great first step!
I know, right, @riceNpea! There are many on eBay at vastly inflated prices, but I have no idea where I can source one for myself (or at least check whether they have sold out). They're not even available on Ubisoft, from what I can see...
Ubisoft's down bad lol
Henry of Skalitz is coming to visit in February (unless this gets delayed as a result of AC moving) so no, I don't think I will be ordering any version, unless they release it before Christmas again. Feb is absolutely rammed, and other games take priority, now.
If I do go completely mad by Feb I might get this edition though, as that statue is quite nice 😂
Oh good, the amount of money I won’t spend is less than it was before!
Wow. That’s unheard of these days. A positive article about Ubisoft? But I do like this. I’m actually shocked they’d even cut down the cost just because the season pass no longer exists. One would figure it’d stay the same, especially with their current financial state.
@CutchuSlow I don’t so much want it to flop. I just don’t think Ubisoft will last long enough for the game to be released. In my honest opinion, I can see this becoming the best selling Assassin’s Creed game with all the buzz and headlines it makes every week, it is definitely on everyone’s raft at this point.
@Fiendish-Beaver unlike many other AC Collector's Editions that were able to be purchased directly from the Ubisoft Store, this was an exclusive at GAME. I would wager they sold out of stock fairly quickly, they usually do for Collector's editions for major IP.
Between the time preorders went up for that and now, GAME's website has gone to all sorts of hell and virtually everything they had up for preorder previously is no longer viewable (and all order histories are missing from customer's accounts on the new site), so you can't even have a look to see what they are charging for it at this point, or even if they will sell it at all.
@Khwarezm89 I feel like I know exactly what I’m going to play which would be more AC Valhalla with some tweaks and a different skin, that’s exactly what AC Mirage was, and Valhalla from Odyssey, and Odyssey from Origins…
Thank you, @pawlslax. That's really helpful. Looks like I'll have to miss out then, which is a shame, as I quite like the look of this model...
origins was clean i thought they were going to mix in Prince of Persia Sands of time but that game lets you run on walls ubisoft games been weak not better than they old games said they was doing a remaster
This won't save the game. People are already in line with pitch forks and torches after they kill Dragon Age. This is how bad gaming is now. The delay was because the model of release now and patch later is failing. The DLC plans have been mostly scrapped. The first DLC was well underway and is why they are giving it away for free now. The second DLC was probably only in planning stage and it's canceled. This will be a a one and done release with them abandoning it as soon as possible. The fallout from this will be epic though.
So many Nostradamuses on this website. It’s AC. It will sell despite the weird desires expressed here hoping it will fail. It won’t. I used to be a big AC fan. Played all on release from 2 forwards. Valhalla burned me out and I never finished it. Waiting for Mirage to drop in price and maybe I’ll try it.
There are two protagonists to play as, thankfully from my own perspective and taste with Assassins Creed games I can go loud and break some skulls, and the other is more of a silent approach, works both ways for me.
