Epic RPG Baldur's Gate 3 will join the hallowed ranks of games enhanced on PS5 Pro, although precisely how remains to be seen. With the PS5's mid-generation refresh launching next week, you might want to consider that Dark Urge playthrough you've been putting off for so long.
Spotted by Zuby Tech on X, the glorious "PS5 Pro Enhanced" tag has appeared on Larian's game page over on the PlayStation Store (thanks, PSU). The developer has yet to comment on the inclusion, but if we had to guess, that extra horsepower would be used to iron out some lingering late-game performance hiccups.
Have you been feeling the itch to return to Baldur's Gate 3 lately? Have you secured a PS5 Pro for your personal use, and if so, will you carve out some time to test it out on launch day, 7 November? Take a half-step towards the next generation in the comments section below.

Well protagonist's name, it was an honor accompanying you in this Baldur's Gate 3 for PlayStation 5, Enhanced on PS5 Pro, but our journey has come to an end.
Welp. I guess it's pretty clear. The PS5 Pro is the best one to play PS5 games- PERIOD!!!
Even I'm surprised at the amount of games Sony has managed to get enhanced for Pro so far, unfortunately Bloodborne is still nowhere to be seen 🥲
The base PS5 has clearly come to its end of life with so many games taking full advantage of its hardware
@Yagami the ugly stepchild that all the siblings are jealous of because it so happens that he is one of the most successful and the whole town only seem to talk about him 😂
@gipsojo As great as this looks ... from what I understand, Baldur's Gate's biggest problem wasn't it's graphics, but it's CPU-limited nature. It doesn't need to look better, but rather perform better. Given only a 10% tops improvement in CPU, I'd really be interested what they could do with BG3 other than squeeze out a headline.
Over 70 games now with PS5 Pro enhancements before it’s even released. It seems devs are keen on using the tech which is a very good sign and makes it more appealing. Still £700 + disc drive is too steep for me unless I can sell my PS5 for a good price.
@themightyant I thought seriously about buying one... but the fact that I'd have to spend an additional AUD160 on a disc drive was the show-stopper. So I'm sure there's plenty of very happy (imminently) PS5 Pro owners out there... but I just can't stomach buying a digital console when I can't actually even buy the detachable disc drive (because it's sold out). I just don't want to play Sony's game. Even if that means I miss out.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare I feel the same, mostly.
However I am also tempted, and if enough games support the Pro and see decent upgrades I may end up doing it. Especially if playing on base PS5 means playing at 60fps with a blurry final resolve like here or in FF7 Rebirth or at dodgy frame rates. I’d rather not spend £800+ but I also don’t want to play my games like that if I don’t have to.
The trouble for me is if I decide I do want to buy one I’d rather that decision is made quickly so I can maximise its use before PS6 which I will almost certainly buy day 1. I don’t see much point buying the pro in a year or two. Hence I need to decide soon after launch else I won’t do it.
@themightyant I get that - if you're going to do... don't wait. If you can afford it comfortably, it might be worth it... but I also think there's a big difference between PS4>PS4 Pro and PS5>PS5 Pro.
Yay! This is one of the games, if not THE game, I was hoping the most to get a pro update!
Nah. I put in 120 hours into my playthrough on PC. I’m done with BG3, but I have to admit I am surprised by the number of games enhanced for the Pro. The list looks much better than in the case of PS4 Pro. Still, I’ll be waiting for PS6 to take advantage of those enhancements.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare agreed. PS4 Pro was a virtual must buy for me, the upgrade felt significant, plus it was ‘only’ £349 at launch.
I can afford the Pro comfortably, but only because I’m sensible with my money and don’t buy everything I want. But I also have a few big expenditures coming up in the next 12 months like a new car, new work PC, work on the house, and likely new Switch / next year. So PS5 Pro is still pretty firmly in the “this is unnecessary” camp, but my resolve is wavering. The more third party devs I see supporting it. I’d say I’m 30:70 against today.
@themightyant "unless I can sell my PS5 for a good price."
That's the trouble. I don't know about your local trade-in stores but our local CEX is swamped with PS5s, both original fatties and the newer not-quite-as-fatties, and those trade-in prices are dropping.
@Yagami Not sure if that was bait, but Bloodborne is Sony's IP not Fromsoft's. Miyazaki has shown interest in doing something with BB, but it's not his call.
@Yagami Not Miyazaki’s choice; Sony owns that IP and so it’s unfortunately their call.
But I heard there’s a live service Bloodborne FPS in the works, so all good!!! 😉 🤪
Late game performance issues? We don’t know how to fix that so you just buy more horsepower and it’s fixed. Welcome to PS5 Pro.
@Digit2021 a jump from 20 to 30 fps, with a resolution of 1800p and some extra small blades of grass. All these upgrades for almost 1000 euros!!!
PS5 Pro is such a bad joke, devs should focus more on optimizing their games for the base consoles which were supposed to be premium purchases
@ear_wig a premium offering... no MTX... but with a helluva early-access pitch... the game will literally disappear at the end of early access.
@themightyant
I know just what you mean on the better to buy earlier front (giving more time).
Gaming is one of my / my family's bigger hobbies so it was a fairly easy choice, well that or move over to PC, as I really dont think the PS5 has much more left and has struggled to give a nice image quality at decent 60fps on a number of games recently - granted most of that is the fault of devs / engines / publishers, but ignoring the times games are poorly optimised for launch, I do think the PS5 is being run flat out, to the best of the devs / engines abilities (however good they are).
The main problem here imo is that Sony are just not marketing it well. The general consensus from people who have seen it running is that it is a bigger upgrade than PS4 Pro was over PS4, with PSSR being key to Sonys future and PS6, but Sony have been in tumbleweed territory - a 9 minute presentation, and a short and largely useless montage at their SoP.
We haven't had Mark Cerny give a proper spec breakdown (or even had anywhere near full specs) or had a teardown video etc. DF has basically been left as the main source of info.
Sony were already starting from a bad position in that all their games run and look fantastic already, so can only show modest improvement, but they really havent done a good job. The short FF7R footage you mention has probably been the standout selling tool!
@SrpskaArtilerija
PS5 was never a "Premium purchase" - it is a base level console for a mass market price.
PS5 Pro is Sonys premium product this generation, and seems fairly enough priced to the experts considering the fact that this tech is not reducing in price like it used to - you only need to look at PC part prices to know how expensive higher performance tech is (im not knocking PC, a good part of me can see benefit over cost). Would I have liked a bigger CPU boost, yes, and would I have been willing to pay the extra, yes, but they had to stop somewhere.
Whether the upgrade is worth it to you, whether you will see the upgrade, and whether you are able to / want to afford it - thats up to you, and no one can tell you what you can / should do.
@Rich33 I agreed with a lot of your post. But I’d push back on two things a little
1. While what is deemed a “nice image” is subjective, have we really seen many titles that look visually poor on base PS5. I’d say this is still a minority of titles, most look great.
2. While on paper PS5 Pro does do more than PS4 Pro the perception is the opposite. This is in part because Sony have done a bad job of demonstrating the changes, but more it’s due to diminishing returns. PS4 Pro going from 1080p to 4K output, even though rarely native, FELT like a much larger upgrade to most eyes that didn’t require pixel peeping you could see it clearly. Whereas so far very few PS5 Pro demonstrations have done the same.
Oh and enjoy the Pro!
@Rich33 I wouldn’t have had too much of a problem with the Pro if it would have:
@themightyant
1) Yeah, i might have been a bit cumbersome in my writing with "a nice image quality at decent 60fps" as I was combining frame rate issues, with image quality, and wasnt meaning every game i put below "nice" in terms of visuals were poor (though this does hold true for a few games like FF7R). Things do seem to be getting worse in the last year or so, as is the norm as generations pass, and I do think PS5 has hit its limit quite early (not many games beat Demon Souls when it comes to looks/Performance) but I could have explained a bit better.
2. I generally used PS4 Pro on performance modes, so didnt really see big image upgrades that often, but i take the point (HD to 4k) - though not having seen PS5 Pro running in person either, I was merely going on what (some) others have said who have.
"Enjoy" - Thank you.
@SrpskaArtilerija
Hopefully they will get drive availability sorted soon - I dont agree with the conspiracy theories and think its just a demand issue caused by Pro.
Im glad they didnt add a drive, because then it would have cost more for a drive i might not use - I can buy one later if i want to - but they should have made sure they didnt run into drive availability issues.
If Infinite Wealth and Black Myth Wukong get Pro patches, I'd be very happy with that.
@Yagami one day my friend, we will get the 60FPS version of Bloodborne!
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare They can offload more to the beefier GPU to lighten the CPU load.
I am playing the 2018 God of War enhanced version on the PS5 for the first time and it looks absolutely incredible. How much better can my eyes see? $800 is a steep price tag for slightly better reflections.
Is it really necessary to have a separate article for EACH game that will be "PS5 Pro Enhanced"?! And not trying to be overly critical, your "article" is 3 short paragraphs just repeating information already stated elsewhere.
Every time I see "PS5 Pro Enhanced" or whatever, I remember the box of my "old & inferior" PS5 said 8K on it...
@ButterySmooth30FPS that's possible, but it depends a lot on what is being used for what already. It will be interesting to see how it translates to performance.
@Yagami Same! I never got a chance to play King’s Field, which was apparently the predecessor to Demon’s Souls and in first person
Excited for this. I have Baldur's Gate 3, GOW Ragnarok and Until Dawn remaster. Have not touched any of them yet. Looks like I'll be playing all three of these starting the 7th.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare Baldur's Gate 3 has a performance mode and a fidelity mode. If other PS5 Pro games are any example I'm guessing the former fidelity mode will now run at 60 FPS. Sounds good to me!
@gipsojo most games are limited by their GPU... Baldur's Gate was limited primarily (even on high end PC systems) by it's CPU. It is definitely possible that they can transfer some load to the GPU... but GPU's are actually quite different processors, so there's a limit on what can. Simulation-based calculations are generally NOT the sort of things that can be transferred. However - let's just see what the reality is, before we all speculate too much. I hope they are able to pull off a miracle, because it suggests options to load-share that haven't been typically used yet.
Much needed. Would love to play this game without constant distracting performance issues, like screen tearing, slowdown, and delayed loading of textures (without having to suffer with 30 FPS stutter, which makes this game especially unplayable on OLED).
