Can't believe the PS5 Pro is almost double the PS5 RRP.
Really stings, currently on the side of waiting for PS6 (although of course I would like a PS5 pro).
Not almost, unfortunately.
It's double plus 20 notes.
I'll wait for the PS7 Pro...🤪
If I didn't mind adorably all digital the £339.99 is pretty great price for a PS5. That's cheaper than the PS4 cost at launch.
Best Buy in the US has the same $400/$450 deals going on. Only a $50 savings to go all digital seems kind of off to me. Are there any 4K UHD players on the market for $50? Besides 4K and blu ray movies I’ve probably borrowed $200 worth of games from my library, Spider-Man 2, Stellar Blade, Stray off the top of my head. Isn’t Sony selling their own non-stand alone drive for $80, but the system is only $50 cheaper?🤑
I’m still rockin a PS4 Slim. Playing Horizon Forbidden West on my 1080p TV and it looks amazing.
So back to the price it was at PS5's launch.
I see none of the usual shops in the UK haven’t dropped price yet to match.
Maybe tomorrow.
That’s what It should cost.
I purchased 2 slims and stuck them together. Take that pro owners.
I have pre ordered Pro and that was (other than the lure of PC) an easy choice.
I just dont know how to feel about this price cut - on 1 hand its great they have done it, on the other hand it is just another in a long line of weird/bad marketing choices for Sony to discount the Slim when you are trying to push the more expensive Pro...
@Rich33 it’s because Sony aren’t pushing the pro in that way, the pro is a premium option that is made directly for its exact level of demand, they know they’re targeting a niche amount of the fanbase who want this kinda option, now the plan is to cut the price of the standard models to get more casual/middle of the road consumers into the ecosystem hoping there’ll be more to buy the next console/pro refresh.
Just buy the disc edition and sell of the disk drive for 150 to 200.
@DonJorginho
Agreed for those that are on 1 side of the fence - which would include myself (I was sold as soon as i watched the DF video), but im thinking for those who dont own a PS5 and are split between whether to buy Slim or Pro.
What a good price!
I've had mine for 2 weeks now and absolutely loving it 👍
I'd sooner get a slim than a PS5 Pro. Talk about a cash grab! Can't wait for the announcement of PS6 Pro! That'll be 6000 dollars please!
@themightyant only it’s 4 years in on this model now. Seems to much for this product now.
I have a pro pre-ordered but thinking of cancelling it (not enough of an upgrade to justify the cost i feel) Might just get a slim for my other tv and keep my phat ps5 downstairs 😃
@Rich33 I think at that point it’s solely price, Sony won’t mind what route you go down as long as it’s in their ecosystem, similar to Apple and how they offer the standard models of the 16 then the plus and pro and pro max etc.
Yeah, I have the Slim and I really like it. Smaller and snazzier than the OG. Will wait for PS6 as I don’t do midgen refreshes anymore. Learnt my lesson with PS4 Pro.
@Futureshark it seem with phones if u want the best features u going to have to get that 1k phone the pro was made for a group of people who want can afford it and want those features in it.
@C25CLOUD
indeed, however I think unless you sit pretty close (<1m) to a 65'' 4K TV, you won't see the uptick in resolution that the pro brings at 60fps.
@Futureshark I understand that if u don't have a 4k TV I would not recommend anyone to buy the pro
Thanks, but I'm good. Bought a Steam Deck instead. Now my PS5 is just for exclusives. Everything thing else is dirt ass cheap on the Steam Deck. I've seen the PC light now. I can't go back.
Roll up! Roll up! Get your overpriced Remasterstation here!
... but it's not $50 off. They raised the price $50, and they removed that pay increase for a week.
@JokerBoy322 Oh, there's no going back once you get a Steam Deck 😌
@RainbowGazelle On its way can't wait 😃
Yiuss not bad that.
Anyone else having trouble getting on the PS Direct UK site, sticks you in queue and it’s been like that for a good few days now?
I took the plunge and pre ordered the Pro. November 7 here we come!
Update: Nope, still buying the Pro.
loads of other places have ps5 on sale at the same price of £430 or cheaper.
amazon were selling disc slim consoles for £395 in june
The reason I'm not "feeling the Pro" is that the POS doesn't even come with a disc drive. The price is ridiculous, mind, but not being able to play physical media out of the box is a deal breaker and I doubt I'll ever get a 100% digital system, even as someone who DOES like the convenience of having digital copies of certain games (my dumb fanboy ass usually buys monster hunter twice..one to put on the shelf, one to fire up without having to switch discs, I'm obsessed and lazy like that with the series)
@Rich33 Sony don't care which of their consoles you buy, they only care about people being engaged in their ecosystem.
They also know that the vast majority of new buyers going forward will still be opting for the Slim, and that the Pro is a niche product (that's gonna be bought by a lot of existing owners anyways).
@MrPeanutbutterz
In part I agree with you, but when I posted my original comment I was thinking more of those on the fence (unlike myself) - ie those wondering do I buy a Pro or a Slim?
In this case i definitely think Sony would prefer a buyer to buy the Pro, as whilst there may not be much in it, the Pro will have a slightly higher Profit value; and is certainly a much higher turnover value.
I also think that even though its a niche product, Sony really needs the Pro to be well adopted or it could have serious implications for PS6, including (as per DF) that they need devs to adopt and practice use of PSSR.
Its not what they have done, its the timing of it.
My pro will be going on ebay. Hoping to to double what I paid
@Rich33 "Sony really needs the Pro to be well adopted or it could have serious implications for PS6".
Won't make the slightest bit of difference to the PS6 - a stand alone product not shackled by the PS5 like the Pro is (as was the PS4 Pro by the base PS4).
PS6 will be PS5 Pro Plus doing all the things that the Pro does only a lot better (hopefully it'll look better than currant eye-sore too!).
Also it should have some other fab tech in it rather than just a warmed up GPU.
@sanderson72
The PS6 is likely to be only a fairly modest boost in power over 5 Pro - DF i believe used the term iterative update or similar recently, and they seemed quite sure of a cross gen period (where all games would need to run on PS5) for longer than this generation had.
This will likely be due to a price point that is higher than launch PS5, so will take longer to go mainstream, but not high enough in price that would enable them to really add a lot of Power, but completely alienate mainstream.
1 big caveat is the same could be acheived via a mainstream priced but comparatively weak console, and a much more expensive Premium console similar to the MS X/S idea.
So yes, even PS6 may be shackled to 5 for a fair while at least.
The PS5 Pro is actually a fair upgrade I think, given the world we live in and the refusal of parts to drop in price over time like they used to - it certainly isnt just a 'warmed up GPU' (but yes, will unfortunately be shackled to the 5 base console, with its results very much depending on how devs use it).
The PS6 will very much rely on AI tech including PSSR to make a 'generational leap', and they very much do NEED serious adoption of this by devs in order to develop it further so that a PS6 can reach its potential.
@B_Lindz there's a lot to learn but it's worth it. So tired of being tied down by a corporation that raises its products prices so regularly that everyone feels the need to celebrates a minor "discount" like this. I can't wait to see everyone run to Sonys defense when they drop the PS6 with a $1,000 price tag and $100 games that are STILL simultaneously releasing on PS4.
