Update: While we haven’t received word back from Sony yet, it’s looking increasingly like this is a bug. Until Dawn shows as “not available for purchase” on the web store in some countries, but if you search for it on a PS5 or PS4 console, you can buy it no problem. This all suggests to us that it’s some kind of complication with the PS Store’s notoriously flaky infrastructure, perhaps pertaining to the fact the PS4 version was recently renamed to Until Dawn 2015. Either way, we’re fairly confident this will be fixed soon.
Original Article: If we’re to assume Sony’s plan is to grow the Until Dawn franchise, it’s not going about it in the best way. The new PS5 remake is totally fine, but its performance is pretty pathetic – especially when you consider the original runs at 60 frames-per-second with backwards compatibility. It’s also much cheaper than the new version – or at least it was, when you could buy it.
Fans have noticed that while the original game is still listed on the PS Store, in some countries it shows the error message “not available for purchase”. Now we should stress this is currently only happening in select regions; in the US, for example, the game’s currently still for sale like normal. It’s leading us to believe this is probably an error. We’ll check with the platform holder.
Removing the 2015 version for sale would be a strange move: not only will it attract negative press, but it’d mean the game is no longer available on the PS4 at all, which remains a very popular console. The fact that Sony decided to remake Until Dawn, even with a movie on the way, is still baffling to us – and it’s especially odd considering the release appears to have been sent out to die.
Still, that’s the situation we find ourselves in. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and update if we get a comment back from the manufacturer.

Wonder if that would mean they would remove the version they gave away with PS+ or just the version available to purchase on the store. Think this is just an error anyway.
Sony, Y U so naughty this generation?
Weird, my physical copy is still on my shelf
For those who wonder, if you own the game and it gets "delisted" just means you can't buy it anymore. Driveclub is delisted and I can download it and play just fine on my PS5. Ofc, they stripped the online part of it, but that's because Polyphony couldn't be bothered to take over the server....
@Kidfunkadelic83 They mean removing it from sale. Previously purchased or acquired copies in libraries would be unaffected.
Downloaded it yesterday and uninstalled on the same day. Didnt remember it was that bad
Digital way of the future here preserve games.
There's no way the old version is the best version to play anyway, even with new one being at 30fps. So not only is this only affecting specific regions, and not only is it probably a bug... All that aside, anyone coming to this for the first time would be better off playing the re-worked version anyway.
@Czar_Khastik careful, someone might break into your house and stick a note on your copy that says “umm, pay me 60 dollars pretty please?” then you realize it’s a permanent sticker and your copy is ruined forever.
Well fingers crossed the PS5 Pro is able to get the new version up to 60fps. I can see the headlines now.
"Unnecessary Hardware Upgrade Achieves Greatness By Allowing Unnecessary Previous Gen Remake To Run As Smoothly As Previous Gen Version Does On Base Hardware."
One more time for physical media ☝
Paid upgrade incoming?
This whole situation makes me sad tbh
I liked Until Dawn and would be interested in this re-whatever at a reasonable price but it's just ridiculous the price and issues people are having with it
I'm sure they plan to drop the price in the coming months, but honestly even £30 seems too much for this for what it is
@BloodyBlact "Didnt remember it was that bad"
It isn't, the overwhelming positive response (to the original) shows that. The game just didn't click with you, GOW Ragnarok didn't click with me but I still would not say is bad just because I personally didn't like it.
The original does have almost game-ruining audio issues where the dialogue sounds like it's been muffled through two cans on a piece of string. At least when playing on PS5
It will be interesting to see if they enhance this to 60fps on Pro (though i cant see a reason for them not to get it there on base - its not exactly complex).
Buy, even if they did, replayability in this type of game is fairly limited so i certainly wouldnt pay more than a tenner for it anyway.
Relax guys, the remake of this new remake is going to address all of that. In the meantime go ahead and buy this current iteration, play your little game and shuuut up. Sincerely, capitalism.
I actually found my physical copy of the ps4 version the other day but I remember not actually finishing it.
I remember playing the original when it came out and using the PS camera feature where it records your reaction during jumpscares. When I went back to watch the footage, pretty much everything is drowned out by the jet engine-esque sound of the PS4
@Czar_Khastik My copy of Until Dawn is still in my library on PS5, regardless of if it's available on the Store or not, just saying!
I just check PSN Asia and it still there. Maybe some bugs / error but i don't need to worry since i still have my physical copy.
Anyone who has even considered getting it has already got it. Even if it gets delisted, there will be physical copies on eBay for everyone to buy. I’m also pretty sure the PS5 version will get patched eventually so no biggie really.
If it was cheaper than the remake then it’s 100% getting delisted.
@Czar_Khastik exactly lol mine to. Funny how the lovers of downloads are the first to Ballache when this happens.
@Axelay71 Funny that you think if the game isnt sold on the store that it also gets deleted from your library.
Greed Has No Limits!
@Zeke68 My Driveclub disappeared which I got from PS Plus in the day..Maybe only applies to purchases
@JackiePriest you can always re-download digital games if you bought them already , not that the physical only crowd will ever listen though , gotta keep the faith of digital being bad alive 😂
@nomither6 Yeah, physical media isn't actually that great for game preservation. It was different for PS1 or PS2 games but imagine 20 years from now getting your PS4 out of the loft and putting the disk with the launch version of Cyberpunk 2077 on it in to play without any of the post release patches 😬
I'm more concerned about the remake being delisted considering the player numbers 😅. Appears to be making concord look like a big seller.
I got the ps4 version both on disc and downloaded so all good
@GymratAmarillo for me I've never really heard anyone that's played until dawn or just in general say it was a bad game
Here's a crazy idea pop into a shop and pick it up for £10
i mean didn't you guys make a story they changed the ending because the not so secret sequel they are working on at firesprite?
That kinda sucks if Sony does that. It alienates people who only have a PS4. I don’t know if the PS4/PS5 store is the same so maybe it’s only for the PS5 store? I’m thinking they’re the same tho. I hope they don’t delist Horizon Zero Dawn too if they go this route
If a person is going to buy the older version, do it from the EU PSN store. There was a bonus section of the game that was available with pre-orders and was never made available for dl outside of that in the US. The EU store has it as a free dlc download.
I wouldn't put it past them. Also old versions for glitches or different visual design or quirks some people want to experience it regardless of the best. But nope it has to be the 'current version'.
Casuals don't care about price that much if they hear about a new version regardless of a price they will still buy it because it's shiny, because it has the new stuff, looks better and other factors. They don't care what's old and cheap. Some casuals have brains, others don't (see the videos from a casuals perspective or people that don't play games or other stuff interesting stuff or just other people around us that are casuals or into different types of games as well).
How many pay attention or go well experienced this show moving on, do or don't have nostaglia or care.
Oh the new physical format comment I always thought was funny on one video, it has to be new and shiny not those blu-rays those old things mentality. But then when you get the new format you go oh I don't want to put a disk in or it's old and familiar/comfortable so they give up. Idiot and my way of summing it up/paraphrasing. Also as if 4K blu-rays in a way aren't that? If they saw the Chinese format or othersr that exist that are like DVDs but different would they say oh hmm.
Then again who cares for bit rate anyway for streaming services on disk, big difference but people don't care enough, just to experience it, experience the hype, the social/emotional factor of conversation and be a part of something they don't even have to like the show/game just experience it. Idiots.
If it wasn't in some regions then sure but a bug I doubt that. Why change something, what lines of code is that close together it ruins it like come on I question this stuff.
Licensing sure but at least inform, if it's something else why not but this stuff is just annoying upgrading, if you didn't get it prior then well good luck because they want the money and you have 'have a license' and keep control that way when they say so on their terms. Just nah.
Og needs to stay up. Whatever the new game is its inferior.
@VatoLoco47 That's probably because it was considered a "trial" of some sort if I remember correctly. But I can download Driveclub, Bikes, and all the DLC as I bought it about 10 years ago.
I have a few delisted PS3 games (digital) that I bought on sale that I can still download to my OG PS3. (A God Of War Collection and a few games like that) So Sony seem to take my digital library serious and that feels good.
You know what they can't delist? My physical copy of the PS4 game.
It wouldn't make sense for them to delist the PS4 version since the remake it's PS5 only.
@Zeke68 Ah damn that may explain it
They will pull it they definitely will and I'll buy the PS4 version on disc if I need too far cheaper but they'll probably inflate the PS4 version price like they did Horizon
@Zeke68 And I was going to look for a disc version as well but the DLC got pulled and there's a lot of trophies for it under DLC. I honestly have to say it's flabbergasted me how they made this game and then pulled it because it had a rough launch but apparently some say was better than GT
