Zany spin-off Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii has caught a strong headwind – and will release one week earlier on PS5 and PS4.
Originally planned for 28th February, SEGA must have heard word of sea shanties involving the release date of Monster Hunter Wilds, and has decided to move forward to 21st February instead.
This new trailer shows off the Majima-led affair’s naval gameplay, as well as a bunch of minigames, explorable environments, and combat. You can tell the acclaimed Ryu ga Gotoku team is having a blast here.

Looks amazing
Ah yes, because we'll definitely get a Yakuza game done in 1 week
I'm not a monster hunter fan but this just makes my February even more packed together since Trails and AC Shadows come out a week earlier.
I would have rather they pushed it back a week than forward one!😅
Playing it one week earlier sounds great to me
Absolutely ridiculous...where do I preorder
@BookhouseBoy 1 week? I am 8 months into infinite wealth 😂 granted I paused for FF7 Rebirth and Astrobot. Nearly finished it now though!
Sensible move from SEGA. Get the launch over and done with so they can enjoy MH in peace.
But still in February. I need must play games to move OUT of February. Have four 100+ hour games that month I'm looking forward to.
@BookhouseBoy But you definitely do have a week to buy and start it, which is probably all that Sega cares about in the short term for the time being
Can’t recall ever playing a Yakuza game but this “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “One Piece” mashup looks pretty good. 😂
Game of the Year 2025 and 2026
I wish they'd give Europe a physical PS4 release, like the rest of the world.
Seeing the big port city be called "Madlantis" made me laugh out loud.
The bit where they change the date at the end from the 28th is hilarious! Everything about this game looks like the silliest thing gaming ever needed.
Honestly, I care more about a Yakuza game, no matter how zany (zanier the better) but realize other people might prefer to hunt monsters.
@Rob_230 It's still sat on my shelf ready to start. I know if I do, it'll be another game in the unfinished pile (like Rebirth)
Been meaning to play these games for a long time, and with the newest title releasing on my birthday...well now it seems to be fate.
People have been asking for a Black Flag sequel and Yakuza grabbed it.
Yakuza: Black Flag!~
Looking forward to this a lot... I have been playing thru the series this year, 0-6 & gaiden so far, and am currently working my way through Ishin before I get onto 8 (played 7 first when I got my PS5)... A great game series. Pre-ordered this one as soon as I could from hit... Roll on Feb 😎
@BookhouseBoy these games are just so long right? Rebirth took me something like 80 plus hours. I am up to 94 hours on like a dragon infinite wealth (on the final chapter now). With kids and limited gaming time it just takes so long to get through these games. I think I have only been able to properly play like 4 or 5 games this year, despite a massive backlog of untouched titles to get to.
I do think the gaming industry needs to look at it's demographics again. Data shows that console gamers are largely made up of people that grew up with consoles (with younger gamers more likely to play mobile titles).
But with this demographic now having to balance gaming time between work and families there is less time to game. And with games taking longer and longer to complete, it means that I am less likely to buy new games. This results in a vicious cycle as then publishers find games are not meeting sales expectations.
That's why Astrobot was so refreshing. I was all done, with the platinum trophy in hand after what? 20 hours ish? More of this please!
Nah not far apart enough. This looks like a yakuza game id like to sink loads of hours into beyond finishing the story. But wilds is priority. Good luck selling.
RGG Studios is one of the few studios I gladly buy Day 1.
@Rob_230 I've kind of switched up how I play video games this year. I used to just commit to one game at a time and would usually get burned out on a 70+ hour JRPG but I'm now ok with leaving a game for a couple of months and coming back to it if something smaller comes along that I really want to play.
I do agree that publishers need to chill a bit and stop pumping out so many games. Especially big epic open world games with too much padding.
I can't wait to play Astrobot. I think I'm going to get it round Christmas time. Feels like a Christmas day game to me haha.
@Netret0120 it's funny how bug-free their games generally are at launch and nobody brings it up.
@JohntheRaptor 100% Something to be celebrated in this day and age of games launching broken being the norm
Day 1 buyers are generally beta testers these days
