I’m so ready to skip the PS6 and get a PC next gen. This was announced literally less than a year from the original launch. If games are now taking 6-8 years to develop regardless, I can wait nowadays to play it on hardware that is a lot more flexible, doesn’t charge for online, and is more direct in what you can do with it. I still think consoles have a place, especially with physical media, but if Sony is also phasing that out like they seem to be with the Pro as well as just putting everything on PC, I don’t see why there’s any value in still being on this ship.

@DennisReynolds To be fair, Insomniac are just stretched super thin. Wolverine and that whole massive hack debacle have scuppered them. That being said, I’ve been holding off on this just because I thought there might be an ultimate edition coming.

@nessisonett According to the leaks we were getting a whole year of DLC including 3 expansions and frequent suit drops.

Finally, I hope modders patch in the game characters that actually look like the comic book counterparts. PS5 has zero exlusives now.

In a serious note I haven't played the game yet, I may get the PC version if it plays adequate on the Steam Deck. Why do they force the PSN account is beyond me. It is not that they offer PSN trophies or cross save.

@TrickyDicky99 I get that but you cannot even buy the game in countries where PSN is not available. They are not the most major regions but still... Locking people out of a Spiderman game is not great

You can create a PSN account anywhere in the world, it doesn't need to be the country you live in.

I know plenty of people who have UK, US, Japan accounts.

@Deoxyr1bose As someone that decided to go PC as my main gaming platform a year or so ago, after having it always be my second option for 16 years, do it.

You can get games on sale much cheaper through a lot of other sites like Humble and Fanatical, who also offer bundles. No extra sub charge for online, no waiting on some indie games to have a console release. Mods that both allow a game to run better and add fun/qol options to a game. Higher array of vr games, and mods to add vr into games that otherwise don't have it. Steam offers a lot of demos and even has Steam Next Fest with a whole slew of demos for upcoming indie games.

I could go on but in 2024, I just feel PC is a better bang for your buck. I use my PS5 for exclusives that I want to play Day One and play my PS4 library but that's essentially it.

@TrickyDicky99 No, I don't think this works. You cannot even buy the game in the countries without PSN, Steam does not offer the game for purchase. Maybe you could fool Steam somehow to think you are in UK for example. This violates the terms and conditions of both Steam and PSN.

Faster and Faster ports this game will be a year and some months lol

Sony even do not add Denuvo to their PC releases, which means day one piracy.
Fact 1: Most of those piracy have millions of downloads.
Fact 2: God of War Ragnarok has not yet in PS plus, while millions of PC users took it for free.

@Deoxyr1bose Would you have preferred if they waited 2 more days before they announced it lol? It'll have been 15 months by the time it releases on PC anyway and honestly I'm surprised this one didn't come sooner because of that leaked build from the insomniac hack.

Tried to get back into PC gaming 2 years ago but bad PC ports and shader stutter ruined it for me.

PlayStation is now only half a step ahead of Xbox from being a completely redundant platform. Nintendo is well positioned to completely dominate the market with their next console, and all they had to do was maintain the status quo.

Heck yeah, that's way sooner than I expected. I absolutely love the first game and miles Morales, so can't wait to finally give this one a try. Hopefully it's not too much for my system to handle lol.

@Deoxyr1bose I have to wonder how many people are like you going to say they are ready to go PC but when it comes to the crunch will actually realise that it is a much bigger time sink and certainly on initial purchase a much much bigger money sink.

Personally it would need a revolution in pc gaming to get me to go that way because it sucks up so much of your time with all the extra nonsense that goes with it.

My suspicion is (and I don't necessarily mean you - I don't know) is that this is the go to vent against the current paradigm in gaming that when push comes to shove most have no intention of actually doing.

If you have the time, the cash and the patience, PC is a gold mine of gaming. Gamepass, all the big PS games, most exclusivity contracts no longer seem to exclude PC and the options it gives you are incredible.

But to me none of it matters because you are pretty much stuck with windows, performance is erratic to say the least, bad ports are frequent and the patience you need for the bad days on PC is just too much.

It just isn't how I want to relax.

@truerbluer Are they really? Because I'd wager there's tens of millions of people that aren't about to abandon their PlayStation libraries and happy to start ones on Steam/Epic/Whatever from scratch because they might get the console exclusives a year or two later.

I’m waiting for Sony also to only charge like $50 for the pc port. Future releases may just wait for deeper sales.

Also is Nixes, Insomniac and Asobi the only studios working?

@MrPeanutbutterz You're probably right but I'm only speaking for myself when I say I did exactly that. I re-bought everything I wanted on Steam sales and cdkeys and sold off the bulk of my PS4 collection and have no desire to buy another PlayStation unless they give me a real incentive, like actual exclusives.

@Shad361 The Wii U wasn't unsuccessful because it was a home console. It was unsuccessful because it was a console with a poor gimmick, terrible and confusing marketing, little third party support, rehased games from the Wii era, and after a point, not caring about the console.

Nintendo doesn't need a hybrid console to be successful. They need effective marketing, great experiences, gimmicks that are good, and good third party support. The Switch has all of that, and that's why it's successful.

The Switch probably would've still been successful if it was just a home console or a handheld, but Nintendo decided to make a hybrid in order to make development for games and software focused on one console instead of being split between handheld and home consoles. Nintendo is a very smart company when they're not blinded by previous successes, and while I do think the Switch was the best direction they could have gone, they would still have a presence in the market if they planned things out smartly with a separate handheld and/or a separate home console.

@HotGoomba Every Nintendo console from the NES to SNES to N64 to GC all sold less than the last until the Wii..which died early because most people bought games on PS3 and 360 and the hardcore audience was done with motion controls by 2010. The Wii's legacy as a whole is questionable honestly.

They would have sold enough consoles to justify it, but not 147 million worth or whatever the switch sold. They merged the console and handheld audience together and it was a "new" thing. I personally think switch 2 will decline like the nes to snes in sales.
