No Lies Detected! Loved Soulslike Lies of P Will Look and Run Better on PS5 Pro 1

It’s perhaps not a headline anymore to declare a game updated for the $700 PS5 Pro will look and run better, but Lies of P director Jiwon Choi has shared a nugget of new information after it was announced the title would be taking advantage of Sony’s new hardware.

“At Round8, we always strive to deliver a polished and engaging experience with Lies of P, and we're grateful for the positive reception of the game's optimisation on all platforms,” he told Eurogamer.net. “With the introduction of the PS5 Pro, we're excited to take that experience a step further, offering enhanced performance that we hope players will appreciate.”

While he didn’t delve into Digital Foundry depths of detail, he did say this: “Quality Mode benefits from more than a 30 per cent increase in frames-per-second, delivering smoother, more fluid gameplay. Additionally, Performance Mode now supports full native 4K resolution, allowing players to enjoy stunning visuals without sacrificing responsiveness.”

The game’s Quality Mode did achieve 30fps on the bog-standard PS5, but was undone by jittery frame pacing, which we assume is what’s been fixed here. Meanwhile, the Performance Mode fluctuated anywhere from 1512p up to 1800p; we’re assuming Sony’s proprietary upscaler PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) is being utilised to resolve that clean 2160p.

We imagine there’ll be other enhancements and improvements to discuss once we have the PS5 Pro in our hands, but for now that’s the overview – an improvement to the performance of the game’s two key graphics modes. Considering this is such a well-liked game, we’re happy to see it updated for Sony’s new hardware.
