Sophie Turner, best known for her work as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, is reportedly taking strides towards playing the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming live-action Tomb Raider TV series from Amazon Prime. Deadline reports the two parties are "in negotiations" to hash out a deal that would see Turner star as the famous dual pistol-wielding explorer, a move that would see her bring to life a script written by Phoebe-Waller Bridge.
Very few other details concerning the project have been made public, with a release date not yet set. At the time of the official announcement back in May, Bridge said: "Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can’t wait to go on this adventure. Bats 'n all." Tomb Raider has also just been adapted into an anime series from Netflix, which we said "does a good job of moving the character’s story arc forward".
While the role of Sansa Stark is what Sophie Turner is most famous for, the actor has also played Jean Grey in two X-Men films and starred in various TV shows across multiple roles, many of which as the lead. For her work in Game of Thrones, she's won awards as the Best Global Actress, Best UK TV Actress, and Best Supporting Actress in years past.
Do you think Sophie Turner is a good pick for the role of Lara Croft? Let us know in the comments below.

Good fit tbh. I think she has charisma
Amazing casting.
Good call in all honesty
Good call - hopefully she'll be more of the sassy Lara rather than the whinging one.
Don't care for this choice to be honest. For Lara personally I would've picked Daisy Ridley
Terrible casting, if true...
I would rather see Peter Dinklage as Lara Croft than Sophie Turner. Without a doubt, the weakest actor from Game of Thrones.
I hope she gets back the ott posh English accent
Meh, I don't see it but that's just me. I imagine more of a Naomi Scott type when I picture live action Lara. Never liked Jolie in the role, thought Vikander was better suited.
I would rather have Camilla Luddington. A gorgeous woman, actress, and an English woman as well.
And did a great job voicing Lara to boot.
With this casting choice, at least she will have her knockers...
That's a terrible choice tbf
Come on. Be honest with me now: no one here has ever imagined this woman as Lara Croft. Not the 90s fans, not the 10s fans, not the film fans; no one.
Anyone else smell that? Yep. It's the whiff of subverting our expectations. Because that always works out well.
Perfect. Extremely talented and stunningly beautiful actress.
@LifeGirl I never imagined anyone as Lara Croft 😅 That’s such a specific thought to have.
Good way for Turner to work out all of her divorce anger. An angry Lara is a good Lara. 👍
Angelina Jolie is still the best live act Lara Croft imho. Although, i'm probably in the minority, i quite enjoyed Alicia Vikander performance as Lara.
For Sophie, i don't feel like she's fit as Lara. But again, i'm not gonna completely write her off until i see the movie...
This is awful casting, not sure what glue some people in the comments are sniffing 😂😂
terrible casting for me, always thought she was a shocking actress, bad in GoT and woeful in the xmen flicks.
I can't say I see it. Her acting isn't anything to write home about, nor does she strike me as being especially physical. For the purists, she's lacking two other important qualifications.
@Keyblade-Dan I like Sophie. But not for this. Daisy Ridley resembles the character more. Darker features.
Not keen on Sophie Turner, personally. I think she was solid in GoT, but I've never really thought she distinguished herself in other roles.
Should have just made Bella Ramsey Lara.
@AhmadSumadi Agreed, Rey Palpatine's faults were no fault of her actress. She has the looks and the athleticism to play the modern version of Lara.
Jolie was the perfect original Lara pick, the modern equivalent imo would be Gal Gadot.
@AhmadSumadi She does Daisy has the look and I think she's a really good actress and she's charasitic too she would've been perfect
@PuppetMaster I also thought Vikander did a good job as Survivor-trilogy Lara. Certainly put a lot into the role.
That said, I miss old Lara. Not everything has to be serious. Given the decline of the Indiana Jones franchise, I dare say there's room for a more playful, adventure focused film.
@Dimey I don't know man. In GoT she was given one direction from S1-6 which was be sad and abused. Then thanks to extremely poor writing from S6-8 it was "Boss B*tch".
X-men from Apocalypse - Dark Phoenix, everyone was awful lets be honest. She isn't a bad actress, just was in some pretty big middling movies.
Why when Hayley Atwell exists and is already playing Lara in the animated show.
Amongst other things, she's not really got the "assets" for it...
Get Lily James! She's also being doing her own stunt work on Cliffhanger remake. Ideal.
