Sony clearly believes LEGO Horizon Adventures has the potential to significantly grow the popularity of Guerrilla’s franchise, because it’s giving the game a surprisingly big marketing push.
A new trailer, featuring the song Tubthumping by British band Chumbawamba, is running in movie theatres and on television. It’s only a 30-second spot, but it’s alarmingly well produced, with Aloy’s voice actor Ashly Burch really relishing this alternative take on the role.
Unlike most first-party PS5 games, this will release on PC and Nintendo Switch on day one, a clear indication that Sony’s willing to look outside its own ecosystem in order to grow its brands.

It’ll be interesting to see how this performs. We were really impressed with the game in a recent hands on and LEGO is obviously eternally alluring, but we do wonder whether Horizon has a broad enough brand appeal to attract an entire new set of fans to this title.

Unsurprising really. Don’t see how you could think it would be surprising.
Multi platform, Lego and one of biggest Sony IP.
Oh and iirc it’s Christmas coming up too.
My mother in law is getting me it for Christmas
I hope this does well. Be nice to see Playstation do more games aimed at families. Our whole family has loved playing Astro bot this last few weeks, and I think we'll be picking this up. Me an my girlfriend love Horizon and I think linking with lego is a great idea
A Thunderjaw singing some Chumbawamba.
My life is now complete.
I do find a big advertising campaign a bit cringe. And I’m not gen z before anyone says lol. I dunno it just seems desperate
Ngl this did make me smile.
Pissing the night away... he drinks a whiskey drink, he drinks a vodka drink, he drinks a lager drink
Memories man, memories.
.@Mikey856 lighten up.
So excited for this. Just finished Forbidden West for the first time and can’t get enough of this world. Should be fun!
@PsBoxSwitchOwner What you said. Sony has a marketing budget they have to spend, marketing people who are being paid, and basically just this 1 game to promote.
Lego + Christmas = $$$$
@MrMagic I know I don’t usually feel this way about stuff 😂
Hopefully they will bring back the Tallneck Lego.
@Mikey856 desperate, maybe no...
But I guess it must work if it's done again and again...
Honestly, while the trailer is cute, I'm surprised how little we've seen of the game itself in ads. I guess LEGO Movie style CG cutscenes will be enough to sell the game to kids, but I'm surprised we haven't been seeing trailers highlighting the game's mechanics and showing how it is different from the Traveller's Tales LEGO games.
Nice to see. I'm really looking forward to playing this given how big of a fan I am of the Horizon series. I haven't played many Lego games, but this should be fun.
Fun trailer too. I almost wish it was a bit longer to be honest.
@ApostateMage yeeah, exactly. I thought i'd find it cringe when I saw it on a YouTube advert, but I just didn't, I loved it. But Ashly Burch is ace, so that probably goes a long way to a musical Horizon working, and I think the Lego game is going to give her free reign to really have fun with it
Idk why Sony would allow this on Nintendo when Nintendo never share their IPs
I mean I know the answer is $$$, but still Nintendo doesn't deserve it imo.
@Majin_Deicide using Aloy as an undercover agent to go and make Nintendo kids want to buy a PlayStation
Honestly, this trailer feels really old school LittleBigPlanet and I'm all for it.
Chumbawamba's Tub Thumping is a song I associate with late 90's English football culture. Never thought in a million years it would appear in anything to do with Horizon.
It's a good job the commercial short because the second verse goes into what alcoholic drinks they drank, which would make things even weirder.
@OldGamer999 Unfortunately, LEGO has only ever brought back two or three sets once they were retired, and I believe those were fan created. But you can still find the Tallneck set for around a hundred bucks on eBay, which is only about twenty dollars over retail. That price is sure to go up though.
It’ll be interesting to see how this performs. We were really impressed with the game in a recent hands on...
Ah c'mon, Stephen's review is in progress right now, and you (collectively speaking) have certainly formed a better idea about the final game than what was gleaned from a few hour hands-on that happened weeks back...
It's just that you can't talk about it.... yet ^__^
That's pretty charming ad. Clever too.
Altho, myself I just don't have interest in the game.
Well yah, it's all they have to offer this holiday release window....
Pretty lame unless you like kid level games imo
I'm very curious how this sales on Switch.
I'm buying this for the Switch. Games like these should always be multiplatform imo so kids dont have to choose consoles or miss out.
@KundaliniRising333 Astro Bot is a kid level game too and if you think that's lame, that's 100% a 'you' problem.
@Enuo a well crafted kids game is still a kids game. Just because you and the ps band wagon applauds a simple platformer as a triumph it's still a platformer and if that genre of game is not your thing, it just isn't, no matter how good,.... And that's OK
I loved platformers as a kid. Hell I may even enjoyed these Lego games. As an adult they are far less appealing. Pretty understandable, no?
@Majin_Deicide Possibly the same reason with MLB. Sony doesn't own Lego so Lego asked Sony to release this game for Switch in exchange for using their property. But Sony probably negotiate for no Xbox version.
@KundaliniRising333 I'm baffled with people like you who still misunderstood games for all age with games specifically created for kids. Plenty of adults bought and play Lego for decades, not just kids.
People will like the Lego horizon then want Lego uncharted, Lego astro bot, Lego god of war, Lego ghost of tsushima then forget about horizon again. Lego makes horizon fun but normal horizon is boring as hell and years of forcing it, Sony might finally learn how to make it fun, with lego
Chumbawamba’s career trajectory is perhaps one of the strangest things to have ever happened in pop culture and this is just more of that.
Looking forward to basically the last big batch of reviews for the year (outside Xbox, who decided they didn’t want to release their biggest titles before GotY season, but rather after many votes are cast) next week, particularly this one.
I have to admit, seeing Erend Vanguardsman as a Lego miniature was just brilliant.
That might be worth the price of this game on its own.
@KundaliniRising333 to you maybe.
But just because you have no interest in what you deem a kids game doesn't mean others of all ages won't.
I've never been shy of my love of platform games. At one point it was the biggest genre. Gaming has advanced and open world and soulsbourne games seem to be the biggest draws now but there's still a place for platformers.
Astrobot not only sold well but was almost universally lauded. Mario has been consistently good for 4 decades, even sonic has returned to form.
If you have no interest, fair play to you but your condescending implication that they are simply kid games is very narrow minded and in my opinion way off base
@devildragon2k23 Im currently hooked all over again on HZD so can't agree with you saying it's boring but each to their own. I find grind games like eden ring etc boring as hell and to others that's pure addiction and entertainment. We're all different.
But Lego god of war or uncharted would be awesome
Don't you mean everything is thunderjawsome?
No interest in the game, but that's a great trailer.
@Loamy it's blowing me away. Thought it was an unnecessary remaster but then when saw £10 upgrade thought I'll give it a 2nd play through and hooked all over again.
I'm playing it on performance mode on base ps5 and looks amazing. Can only imagine how much better it looks on pro
Wouldn't buy this for 10 bucks. Lego games are nice for kids.
@rusty82
"Oh my god, you probably loooove your mother in law"
I'm sorry, that's a bit from I Think You Should Leave, which I just have to quote every time some mentions their MIL.
As for Horizon, I think the marketing is superb, and plays really into the absurd LEGO fun. Hoping this is a success, and more LEGO games based on videogame properties become a thing.
Do we think there'll be an upgrade fee for the deluxe digital items for those that opt for a physical copy of the game? #FOMO
@rusty82 will you be getting yourself a PRO mate? this game is next on my list when Silent Hill 2 is done!. Anyone playing it on PRO can say what it’s like? 👍 I’m noticing major upgrades on Dragon Age & Silent Hill graphically
@Mikey856 unfortunately not, my wife thought the PS5 was too dear when I bought mine in 2021 so it's not worth the arguments getting one at 700 without a disk drive.
Luckily still pretty happy with my base PS5 so it's not all bad
