Sony's latest first-party release, LEGO Horizon Adventures, is now available, but curiously, it lacks support for the firm's shiny new box, the PS5 Pro. While the spirited Horizon adaptation isn't necessarily a graphical powerhouse (like the recently upgraded Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered), it's still not a very promising start.
You can read our full thoughts on the game in our review, but now that it's live, it can be confirmed that Horizon Adventures supports the standard performance and fidelity modes we've come to expect on the base PS5 (thanks, VGC). Further, over on the relevant PS Store game page, Aloy's LEGO odyssey lacks the all-important "PS5 Pro Enhanced" tag that's begun to crop up. It could be added post-launch, but that would suggest another equally annoying precedent for future releases.
Obviously, this is not the end of the world, but it's also not a great look. We hate to be sticklers (not true), but we were under the impression that future games would support this expensive new machine, and we appear to have an exception already—one published by PlayStation Studios, no less.
What do you think? Do you expect games published by Sony, released after the PS5 Pro, to support the pricey machine? Justify your expensive purchase in the comments section below.

Oh no, a likely not super GPU taxing game that runs on the Switch isn’t Pro enhanced!
3/10 too much non-Pro.
Edit: corrected CPU to GPU.
Don't start stressing to much it will get something after release.
If this was a big new single player game, then that would be a cause for concern, but a small 10 hour lego game is not a deal breaker
"Sony's latest exclusive, LEGO Horizon Adventures"
This isn't even console exclusive.
@dskatter What's the CPU got to do with being Pro enhanced? It has the same CPU as the normal PS5, doesn't it? This game does, however, have a performance and fidelity mode, meaning it only runs at 30fps with the higher quality graphics, so they could have had the Pro do it as fidelity quality but actually at 60fps.
@Ralizah Good point, I somehow missed that he'd said that. He always seems to make mistakes like that.
@Matroska @Ralizah Force of habit, lol. Updated
@Matroska I typed C instead of G. I beg forgiveness.
To be fair, it’s not like you’re gonna be peering at the screen to see Varl’s 8K Lego pubes.
Some games just don't need it. I don't expect to see a pro update for Astro Bot either.
@nessisonett No Aloy peach fuzz face hair controversy this time?
Maybe they’ll charge for it, some game has to be first. 🤑
Lacking PS5 Pro support? Try lacking PS4 support but Switch! Seems like money left on the table. But i am sure i will be told i don’t know what i am saying. But seems odd to me.
This really is such a non-issue...
Not a big deal this time as this game can probably run on the PS3 & Vita if they wanted, I'm more shocked at having to choose between performance and fidelity on PS5.
Saw that already and cancelled preorder
No wonder I slept badly, trashing about as if some unspoken evil act had happened. Lo and behold, a fresh PS5 release without PRO support. 😅
And what about all those ps4 games that never got a ps4 pro patch or was pro enabled on day 1? I bet there was more than a few but pushsquare never reported on those? But then the ps4 pro didn't cost £700 did it so whilst so far every article about the ps5 Pro has been overwhelmingly positive are pushsquare about to start to slowly start becoming more negative in their reporting? Not every game needs to have a ps5 Pro enhancement as a day 1 requirement especially a lego game.
@LowDefAl OK that's a fair point..so why was it never a big issue when ps4 pro games didn't receive the same treatment? I know the ps5 Pro is sonys new shining star and rightly so because its very, very good but wasn't the ps4 pro seen in the same light? I just fail to see how this is that big an issue when it never was before.
@LowDefAl also dosnt the sticker on ps5 games state that they are ps5 Pro enhanced? To me that means a better looking and playing game.
@LowDefAl no I don't but I really don't think there was ever any issues about games not having a pro support for the ps4..I don't know maybe we were all to busy enjoying our games no matter if they were pro supported or not? Maybe expectations are that every game has to have that support or its just not on. I see your point and I'm not saying you are wrong nor do I want to appear as being argumentative. I sometimes think that non issues such as this are not really that important because it dosnt stop the base game from playing perfectly well. Are pushsquare going to highlight every game from now on for not having pro support or is it only going to name the big, juicy releases?
I'm not a massive fan of Lego games in general, but the few that I have played I've always found to look extremely polished and shiny as they are (even on the Switch)
I guess what I'm saying is that some games that aren't going for that ultra realistic look don't always need Pro support
You're reading too much into this.
A graphics-heavy AAA game will have no choice but to be Pro compatible from the get-go.
But you can't expect every AA game with lower graphical prowess to be like that. It's a waste of time for mostly nothing tangible. If for the dev of such a game there's a choice between allocating time to polish or to making it Pro ready, I (as a gamer) would prefer they do the former first, and the latter after launch.
@Flaming_Kaiser you know... not every game needs, or should require, PS5 Pro updates. Because, firstly the game is designed to run on a much lower system; secondly, it's not meant to be a power-house demo of power... it's just not. And finally... what would make you feel that this is finally the game it was always meant to be?
My point - we have to stop "consoling ourselves" that a meaningful PS5 Pro Patch is coming... maybe it is... but isn't it better to just say, it's a game that has a limited scope, and likely plays just as well on base PS5. I haven't heard too much (if anything) on the PS5 technical limitations. If there are some, I'm sure someone will comment.
Let's just let games be games.
@Northern_munkey so there's a fallacy that putting a sticker on something makes it meaningfully better. For example boosting a point and click game from 30 or 60 up to 120 FPS would qualify for a PS5Pro Enhanced sticker. The question is - does it matter? I think we're still too early on in this mid-gen refresh to have mature conversations, because a lot of people invested a lot of money, and they expect return (because Sony implied it was coming).
It's like saying Balatro should have a PS5 Pro enhanced version because Sony mandated... I'm sure they could make it, but it's not what's going to make it a more fun experience. I suspect a PS5 Pro patch/enhancement to this game won't change it's fundamental 'satisfaction'.
@nessisonett Varl had 8000 pubes?... man... he knew how to groom... I kninda always suspected, given his pristine beard... (and yes, that's a - questionable - joke)
Dont care, my money is going to dragon quest 3
I know it isn't critical to most people but this is all about perception. This is the first big release from Sony since the console launched, it should 100% have been Pro Enhanced. Sony seem to mess up a lot of the small stuff that are easily avoided.
Mid game so Pro support isn’t needed.
Does anyone want PS5 Pro support on a 7 Hour childrens lego game? Seems pointless really.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare not what I was implying..
Really don't understand why everyone is downplaying this…
The game has two graphical modes: Fidelity runs 30fps and looks better. Performance runs 60 fps and looks worse. I would expect them to do Fidelity mode with PSSR that is locked at 60fps on non-VRR screens. For 120Hz VRR screens, framerate could be un-capped and aim for around 60-90 range like Spider-Man games are. Would be lovely to get this for more games.
This game could be considered a Playstation Studio title and please tell me who else should be making the best use of PS5 Pro than them…
@mrmartinrohr
Keyword here being could.
It isn't a PS Studio title nor it is made by one, this is the first title of a studio that has been doing basically support work for other games.
I wouldn't expect them to receive a Pro devkit in order to develop those features, too much risk involved for a title that isn't worth the trouble.
@HonestHick we had known for awhile Sony is not making games for PS4 anymore they want u buy ps5
@CielloArc look at the Box Art please. It's a collab and Guerrila is involved and it's published by SIE. If anyone in the world had Pro devkit, it would be them…
@Northern_munkey - maybe not, but there's a crap-tonne of people that now expect 'PS5 Pro goodness' in every game. (regardless of the game).. and to be fair, that's what was sold to them. I just think it's one of those things that tends to warp conversations/expectations.
@LowDefAl it’s a lego game. This is a perfect cross gen game. Make all the money on it. Now if it wasn’t coming out on Switch than i might say ok. Otherwise make the PS4 money.
@C25CLOUD yeah i guess they are done with PS4, just seems odd to support the Switch and not PS4 to me. But let’s see how it works out. I am sure it will make good sales.
@HonestHick No reason why it can't run on the PS4 - it's just Guerrilla Games and their Sony overlords dictating that it must only run on the PS5 as they can't be seen to support their other current console(?). Plus, as the DS4 lasts a lot longer than a fruit pastille, they'll hopefully get to sell even more Driftsense controllers.
@HonestHick Sony has a new console why keep making games for their old console they want u get their new console lol the reason on the switch it is known to be family game system so they feel a lot parents get it for their kids for Christmas with a switch
@Slayer25c i get all that, but Sony is leaving money on the table. Lego isn’t a system seller. People aren’t going to leave their PS4 to get a PS5 for lego. The next God of War or something from Naughty Dog they will. Yeah the Switch will do good numbers for the game i would imagine.
@sanderson72 yeah i wish i liked the Dual Sense more. It’s just a touch too big. More like wide. I wish they would do away with the touch pad. It’s 99% useless.
Literally about 3 people care, especially for some 8 to 10hour game of lego, and by reviews it won't matter if it added at a later point.
Next ps5 pro article please !
Never mind it not having Pro Support, I can't believe it wasn't the first Pro Exclusive.
@HonestHick I just wish they'd allow the DS4 to be used for PS5 games. It's not as if we'd be losing much, apart from not having to replace the controller every 3 months
(hmmm, maybe that's why? $$$$)
@sanderson72 that and the triggers that most players disable in the settings. Haha
I like some of the haptics in the Dual Sense. But the thumb stick layout and the size of it just don’t vibe with my play style. So i just stick to the exclusives and play all my shooters on Xbox. However if Sony ever made a controller i liked more than the Xbox controller i would for sure buy more games on my PS5. No questions.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare With firstparty titles you have to what message is that towards third-party developers.
@Flaming_Kaiser huh... maybe you mis-edited somewhere... it's Friday afternoon here (so it could be me), but I don't understand what you wrote.
The Lego game isn't a first party game... it's third party studio licencing Sony IP (edit - ok... you can argue it's second party because technically it's published by Sony). But my point stands... not every game needs a PS5 Pro version.
@HonestHick 100% correct. There is absolutely no reason why it's not on the PS4... other than Sony said no.
@mrmartinrohr (edit)Were there any frame-rate issues with the game? You were asking for 120Hz/VRR support... To me, this is akin to asking for devs to make an 8k version? All these things are possible... but not all possible things are meaningful or worthwhile. If there's frame-rate hitches... surely they should be overcome by the raw-horsepower? I'm confused.
From all that I have seen it seems like push square has been paid to push the PS five pro?
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare It still better to do this with every game that uses your IP's.
