While Bloodborne fans continue to writhe in agony, it appears that the Bandai Namco-published, FromSoftware-developed modern classic, Dark Souls III, could be getting the remaster treatment. That's if the rumour mill is to be believed.
This one comes to us by way of insider Nick "Shpeshal_Nick" Baker, so take it with the appropriate amount of salt (thanks, PSLS). Released almost nine years ago on PS4, we could certainly see Bandai wanting to go back to the well; whether FromSoftware has time for that sort of thing these days is another entirely.
Further, it's just close enough on the developer's release timeline to further aggravate Bloodborne fans, a situation which has passed beyond parody. As one wag on Reddit put it: "This [rumour] might actually be true because it doesn't say it's Bloodborne".
Would you be up for a remaster of Dark Souls III? Were you a fan of the game? Let us know in the comments section below.

I would 100% get behind a remastered DS3. Regarding Bloodborne, I'm guessing Sony owns the car but Fromsoftware still has the keys lol. How have they not cashed in on the remaster that everyone has asked for, but remastered a game that no one asked for?
Ohh, a remaster of a game already avalible on modern systems. What a novel idea.
A quick buck is a quick buck I guess. But would prefer if they dug into their backlog and gave us some King's Field or Armored Core goodness.
Honestly not a game I’ve replayed once. While 2 is massively divisive, I’d say that it at least doesn’t feel as safe as 3 can feel, despite it obviously being a fantastic game.
I'm definitely down for a DS3 Remaster
Bloodbourne getting ps6 remaster... you heard it here first.
Played it for the first time this year and it still looks fantastic. No need to remaster anything other than bloodborne
My least favorite souls game. Yeah, you read that right.
Meanwhile, Bloodborne languishes in 30fps, bad frame pacing purgatory.
I guess this will be fine for bringing back the playerbase but other than that I'm not exactly seeing the point of this? We already got 60fps out of it on current gen systems.
Still don't understand the desire to remaster games perfectly playable on current gen (with an exception only made for Bloodborne 😛). Let's get some remasters of fantastic games rotting away on the PS3!
@Balaam_ Pretty much my second favorite game with Bloodborne being first. DS2 being my least favorite.
If it's not on par with Demon's Souls it's not worth it. Bloodborne needs to happen though, Wake up Hermen/Sony!!!
Ah, Dark Souls 3. Not as good as Dark Souls 1 but still much better than any game FS made after. A remaster would be cool I guess. Unnecessary since it can already be played on ps5 but that never stopped game devs before.
Count me in. I love my dark souls games. A remaster of the 2nd game would have been preferable personally and of course bloodborne is right up there but it's never going to happen and I just can't play that game as it stands. 30fps I can stomach but the frame pacing just adds insult to injury.
Another game that really does not need a remake. Absolutely sick to death of this now! So much wasted resources when people are crying out for new games.
That would be the most unbelievable waste of resources for such a high profile IP I can think of. And I'm not just saying that because I just platinumed the game this year
I'm playing through Dark Souls 3 and honestly it doesn't need a remaster, the game still holds up really well. I feel like 2 could use a remaster then 3.
Honestly we need a remaster of Bloodborne and Demon's Souls Remake on PC.
@Northern_munkey but DS2 is already remastered on PS4, it is Scholar of the first sin.
@Blacksmith1985 I'm aware of that but it was not a significant improvement over when it first released. I bought DS2 on the pc when it launched and then I bought the remaster on the ps4 and other than the included dlc and very minor cosmetic changes there was hardly any difference. A full remaster or remake would be nice.
@Blacksmith1985 how are you guys holding up over in the Ukraine my friend?
The Bloodborne remake rumor just will not die.
@Northern_munkey power outages after recent russian massive bombing of Ukraine energy infrastructure. lots of dead people on the streets of Odessa, because russian missile with cassette warhead fall into the middle of the city.
other than that, we are surviving and hoping to pass this winter without even more severe damage for the infrastructure.
@Northern_munkey and also Sony is late with bringing PS5 pro to Ukraine. It is embarrasing, ahah.
Not sure if Bloodborne remake would make sense considering it only released last generation, but an enhanced/fixed version for PS5 would be appreciated. Anyway, they should give Souls games remakes/remasters to Bluepoint, they did a great job with Demon's Souls.
@Blacksmith1985 my thoughts are with you all..take care.
Errr according to Wario64, Sony is in talks to acquire Kadokawa which owns 70% of FromSoft. Sony already owns 14%. Can’t see anyone reporting on this!
Dear PushSquare team, please make the following poll. I‘m highly interested in the opinion of the people here.
Why do you think is nothing known about a Bloodborne Remastered for PS5 so far?
1) Remastered announcement incoming! (TGA, 10th anniversary, …)
2) Stuck in IP hell
3) Saved for PS6 release, similar to Demon‘s Souls
4) Sony doesn’t see enough value in that game for the effort
We don't need remasters of From games we need remakes. Keep on giving me remakes of the same quality that we saw in Demons Souls and I'll keep buying them!
Dark Souls Remake, Dark Souls 3 Remake, Bloodborne Remake... hell, I'd even buy a Dark Souls 2 Remake!
But remasters are just not exciting.
Finished all 3 Dark Souls games once, don't feel the pull to do so again, Remastered or not.
Bloodborne however: I'd buy it's Re/Re version anytime on any platform...
And where is Dark Souls 1 and 2 ? Someone don't know sequence of numbers.
@djlard Dark Souls 1 and 2 were already "Remastered".
Dark Souls 1 Remastered already exists since 2018.
Dark Souls 2 was Remastered in Scholar of the first Sin - didn't exactly receive a visual upgrade, but there you go...
To bring them out again would mean Re-Remaster, it won't happen... There are Mods for them on PC, that's the best they'll get.
Maybe Remakes will be done later on, but that's another Pandora's Box many devs are not willing to touch...
I’d play it because any excuse is a good one, but totally unnecessary.
Man, the rock n' roll era really is over. Now we're stuck in this awful cover song, auto-tune, sampling better hits nightmare era of gaming.
And it ***** sucks!!!!!
@Juanalf agreed. Like killzone 2-3, residtance 1-3, PLAYSTATION ALL STARS BATTLE ROYALE!!!!! And GTA4!
Talk about sticking the knife in! BLOODBORNE DAMMIT 😆
DS3 is great an all, but if it turns out it's gonna be a DS3 remake instead of bloodborne,.there WILL BE riots !!
Another vote for Bloodborne RM - as long as it is decent and runs smoothly at 60fps it will be a win, considering the state of the original, and fan interest.
DS3 - This has to be near the level of Demon Souls or its going to disappoint - thats a very high bar indeed (and one few games have even got close to this gen).
If they give DS3 a Scholar of The First Sin do-over I am all for it. If the rumour of Sony buying kadokawa is true it'll likely open the way to bloodborne's return... Unless Sony ***** that up.
Honestly, I'd rather take a full dark souls trilogy remaster for newer consoles.
And hey, if the rumors about the switch 2 are true, then maybe release the collection over there as well. It's still hilarious to me how the switch was capable to run skyrim, dragons dogma, doom, and the likes but can't with dark souls 2's vfx lol
Yes. I'll buy it. Whether a straight res upgrade (still at 60 fps) with (excellent) DLC included. Or a more thorough revision at a higher price. I know it feels safe to some (and it is a bit disjointed but that is also true of our beloved Bloodborne), but it's still damn fine video game.
This game plays great on PS5, so… NOPE
I honestly say give the fans what they want… I mean it would sell like hotcakes considering how many people I seen really WANT this remaster
DS3 doesn’t need a remaster. Also Bloodborne fans are in shambles yet again lol
It was rumored a few years back that Dark Souls 4 would come inbetween Elden Ring I & II. Maybe they make a remastered D3 to get more people up to speed lorewise before D4??
Game looks fine already. I'd prefer King's Field remakes, as I never got around to playing those games.
Pavlovian experiment where FromSoft hovers over the Bloodborne enhancements button and watches you drool...
... but instead presses the Dark Souls III Remastered button and watches you die inside.
Bloodborne deserves remake like Demon´s Souls and ideally done by Bluepoint, DS3 remaster is really unnecessary
@Northern_munkey thanks alot man, I really appreciate your words.
They'll ruin it just like Ds1 and Ds2. I don't like their remasters.
A remaster of Dark Souls 3? How disappointing, I was expecting a remaster of Elden Ring. So much needed. Really.
If this remake has the same quality as the Dark Souls remaster, they can keep it.
This is why I'm done with Sony. We've asked for Bloodborne remake and/or pc port, even fromsoft have expressed the want to remaster Bloodborne and Sony have either ignored or trolled the fans time and time again and then wonder why from soft won't give them exclusivity for their games. Walked away from Sony and consoles all together 5 years ago. Moved to pc gaming and happy better prices on games to be honest
Another pointless remaster. The game can already be played on PS5 at 60fps. And the game still looks incredible. Heck, I played through the game for the first time using my PS5 a few years ago.
This should aggravate everyone. Seriously they can't even drop an upgrade patch.
Oooohhhh PS click bait alert! Well, it failed because i already knew what it was, but shame on you..
Give the people what they want huh? 🤔
Don't know why they won't remaster Bloodborne, probably some obtuse reason that nobody will ever find out, which is fair enough, just try not to rub salt in the wounds by remastering something that doesn't deserve it, doesn't need it and nobody wanted in the first place.
Whoever is making these decisions really needs to lay off the evostik!
No I'd rather they just focus on a new game or idk bloodborne
"Cool story bro", but I'll pass on a DS3 remaster. Thought it was perfectly fine when I played it at release and with the glut of good games out these days and the paucity of time I have to play them, I'd rather spend my time and $$ on somethng I haven't played.
As for the continued desire for a Bloodborne remaster, I'd certainly take it if it ever came to pass as that's one of very few games I'd play again, but at this point I'd rather just have a Bloodborne 2 please and thank-you.
Goty 2025 then....
Jokes aside, DS3 still looks great, I understand that this is easy money for them but what an unnecessary remaster... I'll pass
There's not enough salt in the world when it comes to Nick Baker (I'm not calling him that; it's stupid).
A Dark Souls III remaster is just as stupid as a Bloodborne remaster.
There's enough dark souls and elden ring. I want to see sekiro 2.
@Nekomichu On PS5? It looks awful brother. On even a 55" screen it's messy. If they just use better AA, set it to 1440p, job done. It looks great on PC to be fair.
I don't think a settings fix type remaster is a waste of time. It's still probably in the top 5 of it's genre. It starts a little slow, but then it just gets better and better all the way to the end of the DLC's.
Let's go Cookie & Cream!
@Nekomichu Which is why you will see more and more of this type of dumb decision.
Considering all necessary resources, it costs less than £1 million to remaster games and even at a budget price that is big profit. Its a way more reliable source of profit too.
Jeez, surely DS1 or DS2 are much more appealing options. DS3 already looks the biz and plays with modern approaches to controls.
This is like doing a RE6 remaster rather than a RE2 remake. Nonsense.
What areas of Dark Souls 3 needs a remaster?! It's looks brilliant now!! Don't tell me, rebuild in Unreal Engine 5 so it barely functions or rebuild in DX12 where it barely functions... sigh.
Bloodborne just needs 60fps and 4k option and nothing else. It's fine and just needs a PC port. Do that.
After getting my 2nd plat for Elden Ring earlier this year, I revisited the ol ps4 Dark Souls 3; finished off my 2nd playthrough with a dex build, then went back to new game plus with my strength pyro build. Fought all the secret bosses, got all the endings, and decided that I was properly done with it, by that point.
It's a great game, undoubtedly, but I don't think it needs a remaster? From always use the same shoddy textures, and the game runs smooth, as it is. The atmosphere still carries nicely, so I don't think it needs a 60 quid remaster for a few nicer details.
Of all the unnecessary remasters you could create, I'm gonna be the most susceptible to biting on anything FromSoft related. But c'mon. DS3 is a beautiful game as-is and this is really not needed.
I want Dark Souls IV, not Dark Souls III Remastered.
Another day, another Bloodborne remaster rumor.
I wonder if Sony has decided to do nothing on Bloodborne so they have a popular remaster for PS6 launch? (2 gens later, just like Demon’s Souls, and but not doing res/framerate updates for PS5 it’ll be an easier sell for fans!)
@Max_the_German 2.
