Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii does appear to be diving off at the deep end tonally – or should that be diving off the wooden plank? Nevertheless, it’s the side-content that tends to take the SEGA series in a particularly silly direction, and the latest entry will be no different.
In addition to the usual suspects like karaoke and baseball (with a nautical twist), you’ll also find the long-awaited return of Dragon Kart, the Mario Kart-inspired combat racing minigame.
The main sub-activity this time is named Maseru’s Love Journey, and it’ll see you throwing a party so your crewmate can fulfil his dream of hanging with the Minato Girls. Judging by the screenshots, there’ll be some FMV involved here, featuring various models, streamers, and more.
As for the sub-stories, you’ll deal with a variety of colourful characters, including one man who’s uncertain of whether to join an idol’s bus tour.
Elsewhere, buried treasure 1998 SEGA arcade game The Ocean Hunter will be added to the Club SEGA arcades, while the Master System will be getting a new trio of playable titles, including Poseidon Wars 3-D, Space Harrier 3-D, and Star Jacker.
There’s a ridiculous amount to do and see, then, as is always the case with this series. Which minigames are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments section below.

Can we move away from the FMV with the girls? It feels kinda weird. It’s much more entertaining and funny when they just keep it in-game as part of the normal graphics.
Only played Yakuza Kiwami, thought the FMV parts in the dating minigame were - so - out of place, but also, as the only FMV-scenes in the game, - so - funny
Yeah, not a big fan of the FMVs; them being pure in-game models I find better. Crazy Delivery and the photography games are the only ones I dislike from that list so I'm very happy with the selection. Still want bowling back one day.
@AinsleyE @Jaz007 The FMV stuff will be a development thing. Much easier (and probably cheaper) to just hire out a studio for a few days and film the women than it is to scan them, animate them, etc. Especially when RGG are on an annual release schedule (and YiH is a smaller game anyway).
But yeah, it does feel weirdly removed from the rest of the experience because it's FMV.
I hope at some point in the series they add the Genesis and a bunch of games for that.
Really happy to see Dragon Kart back, it was a legit fun little kart racer in 7.
I love the unseriousness of yakuza minigames. Still I would also prefer not to have FMV in the dating sim. It feels a bit too skeevy XD
Is that Sicko Snap on Dondoko Island? That's sick!
Doesn't seem like Samurai Ondo or MajiRock is among the karaoke songs, which is slightly disappointing.
I hope Dragon Kart controls better than in 7, cause it's a really fun idea, but the physics bring it down.
Yakuza games are always good times.haha.word up son
At this point I buy these games, as much for the arcade games as I do the main game, I even imported Like A Dragon Gaiden so that I have Daytona USA 2 on disc
Bonkers as ever. Love it.
My 2024 wrapped was dominated by LaD games so you bet I'll be playing day 1.
Also for the FMV girls? That weirdness is part of the charm. Those girls are actually known in Japan which makes it funnier. They aren't random hires. I preferred the catfish online dating matches in IW though.
Classic Yakuza series entertainment, never lets me down.👌
Hello there fellow gamers;
For an Yakuza game, it´s just normal stuff 😂
But the fact that it´s Majima doing all that is just glorious.
Ever since I played Yakuza 0, Goro Majima is the character that as made the most impression on me.
His introduction in that game is AMAZING.
This game is gonna be crazy bonkers and I´m here for it.
Another great game to be excited for 2025.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming
Bring it on. The more side stuff the better
Day 1 Purchase
Will go for the 100%
