Monster Hunter Wilds PS5

Earlier today, Capcom hosted a Monster Hunter Wilds developer livestream that basically just went over all of the team's priorities ahead of the game's February launch.

It's an in-depth panel that features a lot of insight from director Yuka Tokuda, and honestly, a lot of the planned — and in-progress — improvements sounds great.

Naturally, there are a lot of gameplay tweaks and adjustments happening behind the scenes. Various weapon types are being overhauled to some degree, and surrounding details, like the rate at which monsters run from battle, has been changed for the better.

But what about performance on PS5? This was a key point of concern for many who played the Wilds beta a few months back, because that test build was rough. Since then, Capcom's promised that more recent builds run much better — and the developer's now handed us a fresh update on that front.

Originally part of the above livestream, the team showed off some new PS5 footage, utilising the game's performance mode. Immediately, it's clear that the frame rate is a lot smoother than what we found in the beta. It looks like a silky 60 frames-per-second — or thereabouts.

Capcom then provided additional details on social media, writing: "Here's a work-in-progress look at our updated "Prioritize Performance" mode running on PS5. The team has addressed rendering issues from the Open Beta Test and is making steady improvements for launch." Good to know.

The developer goes on to confirm that PS5 Pro support will be introduced via a day one patch. Apparently, we're getting more information on those enhancements closer to release.

Indeed, Monster Hunter Wilds will be here before we know it. The game's still set to launch on the 28th February.
