Bandai Namco has confirmed its plans to remaster more Tales games, following the release of Tales of Graces f Remastered in January.
The plan is to launch these remasters "fairly consistently", says series producer Yusuke Tomizawa. With that goal in mind, the publisher has established a "dedicated development line" for its remastering efforts.
This news comes via the franchise's 30th anniversary livestream, as covered by Gematsu. Just to be clear, no new remasters have actually been announced, but Bandai Namco is quite clearly cooking behind the scenes.
So, what Tales games haven't been re-released for modern consoles? Well, just to name a few, there's Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Legendia, Tales of Hearts, Tales of Xillia, and Tales of Xillia 2. Take your pick!

Basically all of the above.
I'd love them to localise some that never came out in the west, but also there some like Phantasia I'd love to replay
I adore both Xillias, they are my favourite Tales games, but when I want to replay them, I do it just fine on my PS3. How about some new game?
@Jrs1 playstation has always been associated with jrpgs and it's why I've owned one since the ps1 , that and single player narrative games , plenty of 3rd party games to choose from though, if that's not your bag.
Tales of Eternia!
@Dalamar they do release new tales games though , these are for people who have never played them or dont want to play those blurry ps3 games, because they value their eyesight.
@Dalamar Not everyone has that option though. The Xillia games are stranded on PS3 atm, so a lot of people never got to play them.
Give me all 2D Tales games. But my priority is Tales of Destiny 1 remake and 2 since they never get english release and Destiny 1 for PS1 is one of my most favorite JRPG.
Sadly i think Bamco doesn't care about 2D Tales. If they care, they already remaster Phantasia to Rebirth years ago :/
Just like Trails, I walked away to play a few different games, and came back to about 15 sequels. I doubt I will jump back in any time soon.
I really hope they port Xillia one and two. Those were the first trails games I played.
I wanted to play Tales of Xillia on PS3 but couldn't unfortunately. Maybe a remaster will retify that.
I really want Tales of Rebirth please make it happen. For Tales of the Abyss I'd actually prefer a remake
@lazarus11 first, last Tales of was mire than three years ago. Second, according to you, people who play since NES days must be more blind than troglodytes from HoMM.
Can't wait for Xillia to be ported and I know this is the Tales series but I'm hoping Bandai Namco would port Eternal Sonata on modern consoles as well.
Bring them on, especially Xillia and Xillia 2.
Have people not seen Rebirth and tales of destiny 2 in this list?
Those are titles never released in english.
They wouldn't be just remasters.
@Dalamar you mean tales of arise ? Only 3 years ago , how long do you think it takes to make a tales games exactly ? 8 bit games don't suffer as much on modern tvs as they weren't in 3d , anything going forward from the ps1 days, on modern tvs is a blurry mess regardless, unless you play on a handheld they're basically unplayable.
Phantasia needs a full remake.
@Dalamar the reality is it doesn’t have to be a new game OR remasters. A remaster takes a small fraction of the budget of a new game, but more importantly it often takes less experienced staff. In the past studios used to fire a lot of staff after each game just retaining the core team while they were in pre-production for their next project. Now you can do both and retain staff. Win win.
It's surprising to see Phantasia ranked so low in the poll.
Isn't the GBA version still its only western release, even to this day?
It would be great to see literally any other version used as a base for a remaster (since they all had much better graphics/audio than the GBA), with the opening song left intact this time. Though I'm conflicted on the voice acting, as the English acting in the GBA version was so wonderfully awful. I kind of want to see that come back, assuming the source files still exist.
With mainline titles in development being 5 years long and these remasters taking a year+ I can see this working out fairly well. Ps xillia 2 is not as good as people say it is
@Dalamar I don't own a PS3 anymore, so there's that.
Pretty much anything before Symphonia. I somehow completely missed the existence of Tales before then.
That being said, I still haven't played the last three either, so I need to get on that.
