NetEase's upcoming free-to-play gacha game, Ananta — previously called Project Mugen — is looking incredibly promising in this brand new gameplay trailer.
The game is an urban open world action RPG, set in large cityscapes that are yours to explore as one of various playable characters.
The main thing you'll be doing is traversing the city and engaging in stylish combat against supernatural enemies. It appears to feature a mix of shooting and melee bouts.
Traversal combines arcadey-looking driving, swinging that looks straight out of Marvel's Spider-Man, swimming, and more.
Additionally, the trailer reveals all kinds of extra activities, like training at the gym, volleyball, darts, and basketball. It looks like the game will pack in a serious variety of things to do, and it looks like everything across the board is of a high quality.
There's still no release date in sight just yet, but you can join over 6 million others by pre-registering on the official site.

The fact that we're probably getting this before GTA 6
Is this a F2P gatcha title or is this a priced out game? Looks sort of cool, but honestly it makes a difference how the game is formatted to see if I should remain interested.

Seriously though, a spider-man, GTA anime gacha with a great OST wasn't on my bingo card for games I'd be looking forward to.
The three hoyo games, infinity nikki is actually so fun to play, if this turns out as amazing as it looks idk how I'll ever keep up..
Why does anything open world and anime style that gets announced have to be gacha
I got a solid 30 hours out of Zenless Zone Zero without paying a penny, but I still felt I had to log in daily for the rewards, ended up feeling a little too controlled by a game so uninstalled. I imagine this’ll be similar, but might give it a try

I always try these games, spend enough time to enjoy what it has to initially offer, come up against the progress wall, and then quit. I am always worried that the next one will hook me into remortgaging the house.
I usually don't play gacha games but I do like how this looks.

@symmetrian Nikki or Avanta? I’m about an hour into Nikki, just got to the 2nd fast travel point outside of town, so way too early to say. Avanta looks like an anime I’d watch but I don’t usually play anything in cities, I like fantasy settings. May give this a try b/c free and nothing to lose over the cold dark northeast winter. I’m already ready for spring.🌞

Because China and Korea has unlocked the secret to making money. Anime open world and attractive characters. While the west and even Japan are worrying about the modern audience, China and Korea continue to make whatever they feel like and seem to be incredibly successful doing it.

This would probably be loads of fun if it wasn't F2P. Just can't get into those games.
With Honkai/Wave and now this all having practically the same male mc model it's getting hard not to feel like we're somehow getting trolled. Or are they somehow the agreed upon design for these types of games?

@Hyena_socks I don't mind free to play games but I agree you are controlled with those things. And after a while it's more of a addiction that you have to log in for those bonuses instead of fun. So I just said to myself one free to play game is enough it sucks up all my time anyway Gems of War I played it for 2750 hours already. 😐
@ATaco They just make what makes them money. I would love to see more diversity like the old Sony so this is not something I like because in the end big corp will be will in the end only make one thing.

I doubt we'll ever see a return to that due to the sheer amount of money AAA games take to get made. If you want diverse and unique games you can always check out indies.
I'm a Zenless Zone Zero player and honestly wish ZZZ was more like what I'm seeing from Ananta. Looks really fun.

I’m not a gotcha fan, but if the game plays like Cyberpunk, I could be interested to try it. I played a couple hours of Genshin Impact back when it came out, and the same with Star Rail. Those games didn’t have the right gameplay style to hook me, no matter how pretty they were.

Infinity Nikki. It's been a blast. Lots of stuff to do, beautiful world to explore, the gacha is so side-pocket that there's really no FOMO, and it's just fun altogether.
Of course, now I'm sidetracked playing yet another grimdark ARPG (PoE2) but I'll be back, Nikki!
