The soon-to-release Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered will feature a suite of extras aimed squarely at fans of the beloved PS1 and PS2 action adventures. Developer Aspyr has hinted at this bonus content before, but now we've got all the details.

The headline act has to be 'Lost Levels' — a collection of areas that were cut from the original Soul Reaver. You'll actually be able to explore these environments, which should give some additional, potentially fascinating insight into the game's development.

The Lost Levels can be accessed through a new 'Bonus Content' menu, which also includes a gallery full of concept art and renders, and a music player that contains extended soundtracks for your listening pleasure.

Meanwhile, 'Lore Reader' offers up newly crafted maps, complete with "poetic descriptions of places and events". These maps were "created in collaboration with the Legacy of Kain Fandom leaders, key community members, and Crystal Dynamics artists" — which sounds very promising.

Then there's the 'Dark Chronicle', which is about as hardcore as extras get. Basically, this mode provides the entire script for both games, in text form. And that's cooler than it sounds, because Soul Reaver's script was really well written and voice acted — especially for its time.

What do you think of all this bonus stuff? Do you enjoy it when games go above and beyond with extras like this? Let the Soul Reaver nostalgia flow in the comments section below.
