Croteam has announced it's bringing back The Talos Principle with a PS5 definitive edition that remasters the original game and bundles in new content, all rebuilt with Unreal Engine 5. It's called The Talos Principle: Reawakened, and it's expected to arrive in early 2025. Check out the reveal trailer above.
The footage demonstrates a pretty substantial visual overhaul compared to the original, with graphical improvements on top of brand-new assets to fill out the environments much more. You can also look forward to "enhanced lighting, textures, and environmental design [that] breathe new life into every corner of the game, alongside modernized quality-of-life updates that maintain the vision of the original classic".
Its new content takes the shape of a new chapter, called In the Beginning. "This fresh addition explores the origins of the Simulation and the challenges of its first test, adding new layers to the game’s philosophical and narrative depth."
The remaster also includes its own puzzle editor, letting you make your own brain teasers. "This robust tool empowers the talented modding community to build unique worlds and challenges, fostering creativity and ensuring a thriving future for The Talos Principle." It's not known yet whether there'll be an upgrade path for current PS4 owners.
The PS4 version of The Talos Principle originally came out in 2015, at which point we awarded the puzzle game a 9/10 rating. "The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition offers a huge amount of quality, intelligent gameplay for sci-fi fans and puzzle goers alike," we concluded. It's since gone on to get a sequel in The Talos Principle 2, which is just as highly regarded.

I have been meaning to play this for awhile now, if the remaster gets a physical version, I might just dive in.
This game needs a VR2 version.
Is the industry seriously just going to remaster everything now? I liked this game, but like Yooka Replaylee, who is this for?
Vr support for this would be incredible.
Bit of a hidden gem for those that have not played it. A Fantastic and challenging puzzler. More than a whiff of Portal about it but thats high praise indeed. Surprisingly deep philosophical themes too. This will give me an excuse to dive back in. Looking forward to this one.
One of, if not the best puzzle games I've ever played. Loved the first, but the jaggy graphics definitely let it down. The fact this comes with additional content could get me to pick it up again. Even better if it has an upgrade path.
I'm down for pretty much anything getting more power or improved graphics, so bring it on (assuming there's an upgrade path...)!
