An old school favourite is returning with Turok: Origins, a brand new entry in the series.
It's coming to PS5, though there's no release date in place yet — all we have to go on for now is the above announcement trailer and some basic details.
In development at Saber Interactive, Turok: Origins changes things up by ditching the traditional first person view in favour of third person. On top of that, the main campaign can be played fully in co-op for up to three players.
Apparently, the player character can use DNA captured from enemies to give himself various abilities.
The game will take place on several planets, connected by portals, with open environments to explore.

Yup. Just what we wanted from Turok. A third person co-op thing.
I'm sorry but how ignorant are they? Fairly or not, the 64 Turok games are pretty well regarded, especially to people who found the fps genre on their 64. So you make a stupid "boomer shooter," with ridiculous gore, and silly death animations. Fps are allowed to be fun again, take advantage of that!
Just thinking of how trash these levels are going to be compared to old school fps levels...ugh.
I’ll keep an open mind because this isn’t an overused setting and so it feels fresh. I’m also a huge Turok and Turok 2 fan so that’s another cool point. Hopefully I can play solo.
Ah yes Turok a well know THIRD person shooter series. Im all for trying out new thi gs but a coop shooter third person turok is pretty much the exact opposite of what a Turok game should be. Just the idea feels wrong. Hopefully it'll be atleast playable day one.......
@LikelySatan Yeah they're out of touch with this one...
After all these years waiting for a new game, and we get this....
This was one of the more exciting announcements… until it wasn’t. What were they thinking making this decision be a 3rd person co-op game?
Yes what are we totally short on that 90% are dead on arrival ...co op shooters
Would of been interested for a single player campaign of turok....zero interest in this
Guess I'm the only one excited about this? I swear, the bitterness of gamers is exhausting.
Turok was my favorite franchise and this trailer captures the spirit of everything I loved about it. The perspective makes no difference. Co-op games can always be played solo. I don't see what there is to cry about here.
Will it have the cerebral bore gun though?
Turok deserved better
@LikelySatan This is the first time I've ever heard of Turok. I thought this was a new IP until I got online and realized that it's not. Not all of us were old enough for the popularity of N64 or never had a N64. I'm hyped for this game.
@SillyBoyJudas Hey, that's honestly surprising, and I hope both of you in a similar position have a great time with it.
@stinkyx The perspective makes a difference when you are talking about a quintessential example of a genre that is literally defined by its perspective, and Turok is that to a lot of people (like I said above, fair or not...). Co-op makes a difference for a bunch of reasons also. The levels will be designed around multiplayer, for one. Which, as a huge fan of Turok, you should know is just not in the spirit of the series. There's a greater chance it will require a connection to even play, which means physics and animations will probably be nerfed. That matters to me, since over the top death animations are a series staple.
I'll still try it so long as the mtx aren't off the chain, and an online connection is not required. It's Saber, so that's a positive. I just don't want WWZ or SM2 with dinos.
