Ubisoft has accidentally titled the first Assassin's Creed Shadows expansion it has planned after launch with an update (that's since been pulled) to the game's Steam page following yesterday's delay. According to Insider Gaming, the pre-order information tab was temporarily updated to reveal the first DLC will be called Claws of Awaji, and will include over 10 hours of content.
In addition to new story and quests, the expansion will introduce a new region to the map, a new weapon type, and new skills and gear to earn. The new weapon type is said to be the Bō, which is a traditional Japanese weapon in the shape of a staff.
It's been confirmed by Ubisoft that Assassin's Creed Shadows will receive at least two expansions after the full launch — now on 20th March 2025. Compared to past efforts, a 10-hour DLC would be slightly longer than the two initial expansions for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which were based in Paris and a druidic cult-themed area. Valhalla later received the Dawn of Ragnarok expansion, which is seemingly on a larger scale than this first Shadows DLC.

And yet I still have no desire to play this game.
if it still gets released 😬
They removed the Deluxe Edition and said all who bought the game on releaseday should get the first of the two expansions for free. So this is that one they meant then?
I look forward to the game, cautiously optimistic it will turn out fine. I loved all AC games from Origins to Valhalla (I know, not what you should think around here) but I love the Samurai theme and AC games in general so I'm 99% this will be day one for me.
I also thought that the DLCs will be free, I will not get this game (have all assassin’s creed games but valhalla) but I hope for the ones that will that they will not be charged for the DLCs.
Planning DLC before launch immediately puts my back up. A lot of the time it is stuff that they cut out of the finished product just to sell back to you.
@LifeGirl this is standard ubi play at this time. But no worries! Give it like six months, and the ultimate super dee duper deluxe edition will be on sale in the PlayStation store for $20. This is Ubisoft, you know.
Was interested, gone right off the boil for me now.
Ghost of Yotei will be my next Japanese historical epic methinks.
@Futureshark My thoughts exactly.

I had a great time with all the dlc support for Valhalla so I'm more than excited for this. I'm really rooting for Shadows and think it's going to be a really great game when it's ready.
If it ever gets released you mean right?
Because I'm pretty sure they'll change the date again once the internet realizes the supposed release date coincides with the anniversary of a terrorist attack in Japan.
@Zeke68 I think this is going to be a good one. It looks really pretty as well
@CielloArc What in the world has that got to do with an assassin’s creed game? That’s a reach that Reed Richards would be proud of.
Maybe they’ll stop releasing shooting games that coincide with the dates of mass shootings in America and we’ll literally never get another shooter ever released.
What launch?
You need a new tag for such "news" for example "fiction" or "dreaming".
Do people honestly think Ubi isn't going to release a near-complete, expensive-ass Assassin's Creed game because of two delays?
Random Internet people have the best business sense...
@LifeGirl I agree with you. Pre-planned DLC with these roadmaps have always been a turn-off for me. Same with season passes and such. It’s all been a baby step toward live service games, which I also just don’t really like the model of. But we’re clearly in the minority because obviously the masses gobble this add-on content up, otherwise companies wouldn’t keep doing it.
If the conceived DLC is meaty enough, I much prefer the ‘expandalone’ approach where they just release a smaller interstitial spin-off game that can be enjoyed independently. Ubisoft used to do that (AC: Freedom Cry, Rogue, and Liberation), but I guess it must not have been as profitable. Although I would argue those failed because they just over saturated the franchise at the time. Now with all these games getting boatloads of DLC they run the risk of doing it again. Superfluous expansions are more effectively disguised when labeled as DLC, I guess.
