Nautical Yakuza Goes Viral As Fans Swoon Over New Piratical Like a Dragon on PS5, PS4 1

Could a gag game end up out-pirating the real pirate games? That’s the question Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii fans are pondering.

SEGA hosted a short livestream to reveal new details about the forthcoming nautical escapade earlier this week, and some of its naval combat footage has gone viral. Many have pointed out how it appears to eclipse the likes of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Skull & Bones, the latter of which was pitched as a true pirate simulator.

Of course, Yakuza has the advantage here in that its vibe is always a little off-kilter. Case in point: you’ll be able to attach freakin’ lasers to your boat. The combat does look good, though, and you’ll need to bond with your recruited crewmates to increase your attack, so there are some welcome RPG systems here.

You can watch the full Like a Dragon Direct below, where it’s also confirmed SEGA won’t force you to walk the plank and waste money for New Game + mode:

Hands up, then: how many of you are planning to pick this up at launch, on 20th February?
