PS3 game Beyond: Two Souls is being adapted into a TV series from Elliot Page's company Pageboy Productions. One of the stranger and more unique games available on Sony's third home console, the TV show is in early production after the TV rights were bought off Quantic Dream.
The TV adaptation will "honour the game’s legacy while inviting fresh perspectives", according to head of development and production Matt Jordan Smith. Elliot Page added: "Filming the game was one of the most challenging and fulfilling acting experiences of my career. The story’s rich narrative and emotional depth offer us a fantastic foundation. We want to create a unique vision of the characters and their journeys that resonates with fans and newcomers."
It is unclear how much director David Cage and Quantic Dream are involved — if at all — but the former is quoted in the Deadline article. Cage is said to be "thrilled" about collaborating with Elliot Page again. "I was blown away by his acting performance in the game, and I couldn’t think of anyone else to tell this story with the same passion on another medium." Willem Dafoe also starred in the game, but it's not known yet if he'll be reprising his role.
Best known for Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, developer Quantic Dream was famed for its story-focused titles during the PS3 and PS4 generations. Beyond: Two Souls released in-between the two as a very late PS3 game, and was later remastered for PS4. Time hasn't been particularly kind to these experiences, though, as we noted in a Beyond: Two Souls PS4 review at the time.
"There are moments where the title pushes boundaries and attempts things that most developers wouldn't even think of, but the plotting is uneven and the more touching sequences are undone by prolonged periods of outright idiocy."
Page was always a standout during the experience, however, with an excellent performance. At least in their hands, the TV project comes from a place of vast experience. Will you watch the Beyond: Two Souls TV show? Let us know in the comments below.

This is by far the best game they made out of the top 3. Better story than Heavy Rain, better mechanics, and dr more focused than Detroit BH.
Detroit: become human would of been a better choice.
Bryan Dechart > Elliot Page
Defoe better be in this too. Be interesting if elliot stars, see what alterations theyl make to the story
Jesus christ they'll greenlight an adaptation of ANYTHING these days won't they? 😅
The worse quantic dreams game story. Detroit become human had a great story
I liked this one. It was weird but in a good way.
Incredibly surprised that Elliot would want to work with David Cage again considering him making nude models without consent. And him ‘not making games for f*gs’.
The worst Quantic Dream game. The story was a mess all the way through, David Cage was being peak David Cage, and I found the control scheme to lack the magic where Heavy Rain managed to find the exact button prompts that "feel" like bending under barbed wire.
This is the game with the wacky child soldier sidekick level.
@nessisonett But he cant be homophobic, he worked with Elliot Page!
Or whatever his excuse was.
Read the headline and was like "a Tokyo Jungle show?".
I’m probably in the weird minority here but I really enjoyed BTS (the game not the band). Agree the pacing was off at times, but found it highly creative (in the “David Cage way”), and the story and gameplay really kept my interest.
It was okay but it was my least favorite Quantic Dream game, I feel Heavy Rain and Detroit had better more focused Stories and better characters (they all have the same gameplay so all we can compare is story & characters).
I would rather have a Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy remake. I know she wasn't involved in that but it's definitely my favourite QD game.
@nessisonett the world has changed in such a short time. Is it hard to believe people grow, and learn, and adapt?
I liked Beyond well enough at the time although I haven't played it since it first released on PS3. I still need to get around to playing Detroit Become Human at some point but I absolutely love Heavy Rain. A stone cold PS3 classic in my eyes!
I could see Beyond translated to a show pretty well actually. In fact better than the game since it did quite literally have the most blatant example of "plot armor" ever seen. 😄
@Zman0069 Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I’d probably watch it. I always liked the stories in the QD games but the gameplay was not to my liking. At all.
Impressed the comments are still open and civil. Baby steps. 👍
This is gonna flop.
I have a lot of respect for Elliot Page and his performances. For example, he was by far the best thing about the final season of Umbrella Academy. But I really disliked this game-the performances by all involved were great, but the story was a mess. It is the only QD game I dislike, and I have actually always hoped for a movie or show for Detroit: Become Human.
The concepts in Two Souls are interesting, so I could see some success if the story gets a lot of work. Especially if Page, Defoe and Hardison are all in it: their performances were the best part of the game. But the story would need a lot of changing before I would want to experience it again!
@SMJ I have a real soft spot for Indigo Prophecy. I have been gaming since Atari 2600, but no game has gotten me in a “this is ridiculous in the best possible way!” space quite as thoroughly as Indigo.
@Westernwolf4 I completely agree. I was blown away by the opening act and just panicking over getting out of the bathroom safely. Then later in the game it really got wild!
A remake would definitely help with some of the QTE moments.
Looking back to when people were like "wrap up movie industry, David Cage games are the next big thing"... no... Fahrenheit, heavy rain and BTS as movies would be surefire razzie winners.
It's like David Cage specialized on making grand misguided auteur cinema like Copolla's Megalopolis, without having deserved the reputation of doing so.
Doesn't anyone want to see Heavy Rain turned into a comedy? A detective falling down during a chase scene in a grocery store. Another guy shouting "Shaun" over and over again.
I played the game. finished it.
Don't remember a single thing. 😅
Wait i recall something. She did live with a ghost inside her or something? Something like that. Still don't remember the plot.
I enjoyed this game but in truth have forgotten most of it unlike heavy rain and detroit. I would be interested in a tv adaption because why not?
Quantic have to be one of the most over-rated studios I've seen. Bad stories, bad characters, bad writing. Good graphics. Supermassive and Telltale did it so much better.
@jorel262 Honestly the memes that could spawn for that movie would be god tier lol.
Wait, Elliot is reprising the role? Shouldn't they let a woman do it?
Actually just started Detroit a couple weeks ago and am loving everything about it. Would make for a great universe for a series. Great story, world feels super alive, great characters and VA, and as I get older I find myself actually enjoying the gameplay type of being more an interactive movie than twitchy action play. Definitely will try the other QD games.
@jorel262 “Jason! JASON! JASON! JASON!”

@Athrum ….no? Elliot Page’s production company is behind this adaptation, that’s it. Do you genuinely think that with everything he’s gone through, he’d play a female part?
@nessisonett Main character of the TV adaptation could be a guy, why not? They'll just rewrite the story a little.
@thefourfoldroot1 admittedly I’m very biased towards heavy rain. As at the time for me I hadn’t experienced any game like that. I remember showing friends and they were so impressed with it too. As many of my friends were on the X360 action team only. So for me heavy rain was better. However I enjoyed all of the three exclusive games that Quantic dream did for Sony. The intro song for this game was very hype though! I remember getting the special edition and the digital tracks downloaded to my PS3. Such a great generation.
Th original review was bad. The game was top tier.
@nessisonett honestly, Eliot can play both parts (no spoilers).
