Surprising nobody, Summer Game Fest is set to make its grand return in June 2025.
This year's show will comprise a big, splashy live showcase and media-exclusive preview event, as per usual, but new for 2025 is a business-to-business event where gaming bigwigs will gather to give talks and presentations about the industry.
The two-hour Summer Game Fest live showcase will take place on 6th June, 2025, beginning at 2pm PDT/5pm EDT/10pm BST. It'll be hosted at YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, with ticket sales opening up in the Spring.
Summer Game Fest: Play Days — the event for press to get hands-on time with upcoming games — will take place over the following three days, 7th to 9th June 2025. According to the press release, "more than 40 of the gaming industry’s top publishers" will be taking part.
There's no set date or timeframe for the "business-to-business thought leader event", though we expect it'll be taking place during this same week. It's also not been confirmed whether this will be available to watch online or will be a strictly in-person event.
Additionally, Day of the Devs: SGF Edition is also back, and will be streamed live immediately following the main showcase on 6th June. Day of the Devs is a non-profit organisation that aims to shine a light on smaller scale titles heading to various platforms.
By and large, this is all business as usual, though we're definitely curious to learn more about the new event.
In a few months, Geoff Keighley and the Summer Game Fest socials will almost certainly begin to tease games or publishers making an appearance during the showcase, but for now it'll all be kept under wraps.
There's plenty of time between now and then, but it's still quite exciting to know we'll have a bumper gaming event in the summer.
Are you looking forward to seeing what Geoff's cooking up for this year's SGF? Tell us in the comments section below.

Hopefully we get a State of Play before Summer Games Fest! These days you never know!
Looking forward to another Geoff-stravaganza.
Will this be the year where Sony finally has a good showcase? We’ve gone since 2021 without a massive good show like we used to get at E3 last gen.
I will spend the next 4 months or so complaining about SGF, then I'll obsessively watch the entire show and buy every game featured.
@somnambulance I'm wondering if we will get get one next week since the week afterwards is Sony financials for last quarter and they need to tell shareholders their plans for this year.
Sonic Heroes Remake, Sonic Adventure 1&2 remakes and Sonic Adventure 3
My expectations are always higher with The Game Awards than SGF, but hopefully Geoff has some tricks up his sleeves to surprise us.
This'll be an interesting one. Does Sony have a State of Play/Showcase around then like past years or do they take advantage of the Xbox showcase practically being a lengthy 3rd party State of Play (with PS5 logos included) while giving Geoff some PS Studios announcements.
RE9 because a man can cope.
@somnambulance I think we are getting one soon, the new Fantasy Life will be revealed for Playstation officially then as well.
@IOI it has to be good.though doesn't it ? I mean the games coming this year we already know about, so I'm.hoping the unknown will be just as good, or even better more solid news on release dates for some huge games
Project 007 and anything first party playstation pls 🙏
Well Geoff you don’t get to announce forza on ps5!
@UltimateOtaku91 @Americansamurai1 Yeah, you’re right about the financials meeting being an impetus for one being upcoming. If they have any big plans for the upcoming year, they sort of have to say something ahead of that or things will leak from that… unless Sony has no concrete plans this year.
And I'll just assume it will be as terrible as the last 3 years
As per usual, I look forward to the surprises that are usually had at these events. No clue what to expect since the TGA surprised me quite a bit with it's reveals.
I'm just nitpicking here, but why did you say "grand return" like it's been absent?? It happened last year and wasn't cancelled, so it's not a grand return. Or am I just being an ass?? Probably, but it annoyed me lol
I can accurately predict now nothing I want to see will be announced or featured and there will be very few games shown I’ll have interest in but there will be a LOT that makes me say “who buys this crap? How is there a market for THAT?”
Yeah fool me twice mofo.
