Sandfall Interactive has published a new video that provides a deep dive into the musical score of upcoming RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Featuring interviews and voiceover from composer Lorien Testard, it touches on the numerous emotive pieces of the soundtrack as well as the journey singer Alice Duport-Percier took to bring it all to life.
Separately, you can also hear the PS5 game's main theme song, named "Alicia", performed by Duport-Percier:

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launches for PS5 on 24th April 2025, and its musical soundtrack is already a contender for awards come the end of the year. Do you think the actual game will be just as good? Share all of your thoughts in the comments below.

The more I see (hear, in this case) of this game, the more I'm completely smitten by it. I don't typically like JRPGs, usually because of the campy dialog and voice delivery, so Expedition 33 seems to be the perfect thing for me: take the format of JRPGs, but give it a less cartoony vibe and lay on a thick coat of Belle Époque paint.
Please let this game be good.

I feel like this game has the potential to be the biggest let down of the year based on the narrative around it
This is one of my most anticipated games of the year, it seems like it has a lot of potential. The story is genuinely unique and the voice cast is fantastic. Also the influences on this game, such as Persona are already fantastic. I just hope it doesn't end up being a disappointment in the end
The only reason I'd want this to be bad is so that i don't have yet another fecken game to get
This is one of two games this year I will probably get at launch as long as the reviews aren’t absolutely awful
Watch the trailer from Microsoft Dev Direct and as soon as I saw the turn based combat I wanted to know more and it's looking great I really hope this game is good
Looks and sounds amazing
@Batesy125s Same here. It looks really unique and the devs know what they are doing.
Not to mention its absurd voice acting cast.
Can't believe there are only 30 people making this game it looks fantastic!
I'll be crushed if this turns out to be disappointing. It looks, sounds, and plays like everything I want modern Final Fantasy to be.
I've pre-ordered it! It looks great and sounds incredible. The gameplay seems to hit a sweet spot between turn-based but dynamic and impactful at the same time. Cannot wait!
Really excited but wary about this one - it looks so promising, I’m genuinely excited for it which I’m not for many games, but I’ll wait for those reviews.
I’m expecting some jank on release, it’s a small team and ambitious project, but I can put up with that if they stick the landing on story and atmosphere.
They picked a good release date because there's not much going on in april

Someone else’s review isn’t the same as playing the game yourself and having your own opinion about it.
Reviewers don’t do a lot of games justice that people have enjoyed in the past, Midnight Suns for example got a lot good reviews and midish reviews and happens to be one of my favourite games I’ve played recently
@Toot1st
Expedition 33 looks absolutely incredible.
Lost Soul Aside is being made a lot less then 30 people and that’s another game that looks absolutely incredible
Everything shown for Expedition 33 looks incredible so far, gives me a lot of Lost Odyssey and LOD vibes especially how they are handling the turn based game with the button press queue’s as well using parrying and dodging enemy attacks
@Dragoon1994 oh that’s absolutely true. But a review can also tip you that it might be better to hold off on getting it for a time if the game is in a bad state at launch. I didn’t say it would make me not get it, it would make me maybe wait for a sale if it gets a really bad review.
I also loved Midnight Suns. I got it after all dlc was out and on sale - not because people viewed it poorly. It had a feature which is an instant hold off for me - the inability to pause during cutscenes.
@ztpayne7
Yeah that’s true.
I can’t remember if I was able to pause during cutscenes or not, I still have yet to finish the post game content and get the dlc’s for it.
I don’t expect Expedition 33 to release in a bad state but you never know
