Forza Horizon 5 – releasing 29th April as previously announced – will play best on PS5 Pro, as Xbox Game Studios pledges full support for Sony’s supercharged system.
According to a blog post on the game’s official website, the open world racer will feature two graphics options on all of Sony’s consoles: Performance Mode targeting 60fps and Quality Mode targeting 30fps.
However, if you play on the PS5 Pro, you’ll experience improved visual fidelity in Performance Mode and ray-traced car reflections in Quality Mode. So, some meaningful improvements for owners of the $700 system then.
This is particularly positive news for fans looking to pick up any of Xbox’s other upcoming PS5 games, including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It means they’re all likely to play best on the supercharged system.
While we wait for more information on that, pre-orders for Forza Horizon 5 are available now on the PS Store, but there’s currently no word on whether there’ll be a physical PS5 release. We’ll check with Microsoft and try and get confirmation of that.

That's pretty neat. Excited to see how it looks. Though technically speaking pushes up glasses it isn't best on PS5 pro, because erm it's still better on PC.
Really looking forward to playing this all over again on the PS5 Pro. I love all the Horizon games, they scratch that arcade racer itch that we barely get anymore.
The PS5 is the best-selling Xbox console since the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Switch.
@Bigmanfan * on console.
Its crazy Xbox games will be best played on a PS console (consoles wise). Still good on MS for supporting the Pro.
@get2sammyb Okay, erm, well if you wanna be technical about it.
@Bigmanfan You're the one who started being pedantic.
Excellent news! Long live the Pro
@get2sammyb Erm well when you think about it, the one who actually started it would be the one who wrote the article. And erm, last time I checked, that actually wasn't me hehehe
Sammy when somebody’s jokingly pedantic
@Bigmanfan it is an article on a PlayStation centric Web site..it dosnt take a genius to work out which format it's catering for..
I'm really looking forwards to this game and besides gears of war it was the only other reason I'd even consider a series x in my house.
Got to warrant the £85 price tag somehow! I’ll wait for the videos and hopefully a slightly reduced price before I stump up for Forza for a third time. I’ve even sold my Xbox in preparation!
As if, for the lack of better term, “some people” arent pissed off enough with the pricetag, now it also supports ps5 pro. Cant wait for the comments.
Personally preordered yesterday, FH was the only game i was jealous of xbox owners.
@Blofse looks like it’s £54.99 on the store at the moment.
Im up for another “po-car-mon” game since ive almost got all the GT7 cars (a few £20M ones to get)
Looking forward to this one, looks good and great to have Pro support I hope other MS games do the same!
On the series x in 30fps quality mode it turns every thing right up detail wise etc.
I’m hoping the PRO 60fps performance mode is the same as series x 30fps quality mode actually in game and not just ray tracing in the show room.
If so the game will look gorgeous in 60fps performance mode on the Pro.
Well it's is now running on the world's most powerful console 😉.
@Blofse Where do you get the £85 from? I'm in euros, but on the PS Store the standard edition is €69.99, while full priced PS5 games are usually €79.99. There are more expensive premium and deluxe editions, but that goes for most games.
It will be best on pc
Is this evidence of MS being serious about XBox games being properly multiformat....
Or,
Evidence that Sony do indeed now mandate Pro enhancement for all AAA games released going forwards, as some have said is the case.
(And for those that would say that Sony would have marketed this, their marketing hasn't really been that good around Pro - they barely (if at all) spoke about some of its improvements).
@Toot1st
Depends on what PC really, and how much - I have looked into PC as a serious alternative to console, before Pro came out and negated this, and comparable PC prices are MUCH more expensive, including normal power useage.
Whilst they come with some advantages, like being able to go very powerful (for a substantial cost of course), and not requiring PS Plus (which does at least come with the odd free game I like), they also come with significant issues like spending a lot of time setting up, altering settings when things go wrong or things are updated, and a larger than I would like range of games rendered unplayable due to stutter issues.
I may well consider PC again in the future as sub 60fps is not something I can do, but as things are at present, PC and Console are substantially different platforms, and PC is 'more powerful than Pro' is not the whole truth.
I’ll get this on a deep sale just for the hell of playing Forza on my ps5 pro but didnt really love it that much when I played it on Xbox but its a beautiful game!
Still cheapest on Xbox
The main goal of the pro was to get rid of graphics options
@Yaycandy Cmon pepsimab, how can you be mad about more options. Perfo mode on pro usually is equivalent to quali mode on base, plus now you have additional quality mode that goes above anything else.
@Bigmanfan Tbf most PC gamers have a PC that can't even match the PS5 Pro, but I think the point is the best console version is on PS5 Pro.
Played it on PC, excellent game. I hope they support DualSense's adaptive triggers (and bring it to PC version as well).
@Ainu20 sorry I was speaking premium edition, as that’s the only one that includes the hot wheels add on, which is defo worth playing!
@Toot1st Yeah my 15 year old laptop will run this like a champ.
Anyone else think that while ps5 owners finally get to play Forza horizon 5, Xbox owners will get Forza horizon 6 soon? Fh6 on ps6! lol
@NattyKing @Northern_munkey Guys it was a bit. I was just messing around.
@Skynet04 there was so little difference between 4 and 5 it barely matters. Id be fine with 4 too
Have to say, I'm starting to get frustrated with the lack of 120 FPS options on the pro. This is a four year old game, it must surely be possible with a bit of half decent optimisation.
@Rich33 pc is better than console in every way besides the social/dashboard/ aspect.
The Pro is such an overpriced, unnecessary "upgrade". It's genuinely disappointing to see how much Sony have been ripping off their loyal fans this generation.
Remember when they marketed it as having 60FPS "quality modes" and not having to sacrifice RT as much?
Well that was a load of crap. Still need to limit your experience to 30fps for those sweet rays. 30FPS on an OLED is hard to tolerate.
@JustinTimberlake
Both have advantages and disadvantages, but even though I could easily afford a top spec PC, I would still prefer to to play games on my PS5 Pro.
I also dont get the mentality of going onto a Playstation site, to an article centered around PS5 Pro, only to push a narrative of "PC is better".
I see it all the time, and Im starting to actually believe what some people say - that some PC gamers actually feel threatened by or jealous of this console.
I seriously used to think the people saying this were just being plain silly, but the more and more I see this sort of thing in every single similar article here, the more compelling the argument.
The same being also true of those PS gamers who frequently come to respond angrily about the Pro's existence on articles.
I am definitely pre-ordering Forza Horizon 5, it's £84.99 for the base game FH 5 plus both DLC's, VIP Car Pack and the Welcome Car Pack etc. I have the disc version on my Xbox Series X and got both DLC's too. Love Forza Horizon so will definitely platinum it on my PlayStation 5.
@HotGoomba 🤤
No interest without VR.
Flat screen racing games feel outdated and pointless now.
