As it stands, Avowed is not confirmed for PS5.
Xbox Game Studios developer Obsidian has announced it’ll release The Outer Worlds 2 day-and-date on Sony’s system, after initially revealing it as a console exclusive – but its all-new RPG will release on Xbox Series X|S and PC only.
Of course, with Microsoft seemingly in the process of porting its entire catalogue to PS5, some fans think they’ve spotted a telling nod from game director Carrie Patel in an interview with MinnMaxx.
In a rapid-fire Q&A, host Ben Hanson attempts to catch out Patel by joking “Avowed is obviously coming to PS5 at some point”. As she listens to Hanson speak, she smiles and nods before raising her eyebrows.

While some are taking this as confirmation, it’s just a little gag, and Patel is clearly on the spot. That said, with Microsoft bringing games like Forza Horizon 5 and Age of Empires 2 to the PS5, it wouldn’t exactly be a surprise.
We suspect the delay here may be due to Xbox’s changing strategy; some titles preceded the publisher’s multiformat plan, and therefore don’t have ports ready to go. It means, if it is indeed coming, we may have to wait a few months for Avowed, much in the same way as we’re currently waiting for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Microsoft has 0 interest in making anything exclusive to Xbox anymore. So yes, it'll be coming to PS5. BET!
It's amazing how many articles here now are about Xbox games coming to PS5. 😂
It would be nice if Sony decided to support its own system at some point soon.
I've kinda lost interest once I saw the art style. Just doesn't look appealing.
No it’s definitely not coming to PlayStation, because Microsoft do not like money 💰 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@AhmadSumadi Agreed we all know all the games worth porting are coming to ps5 I would be surprised if some of the older one's do not go to ps4 !
Oh it's definitely coming, it's just a matter of when.
@SMJ They released the overall GOTY of last year and the best multiplayer game of the year. This year they have already announced games like Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2, which are mammoth games. What more should they do, release a game every month?
forza confirmed and gears / halo strongly rumoured. if those 3 come across, they will port anything and everything if they think it'll make them money
Totally missed the most important part of the interview.
The best news for XSX and maybe PS5 if released is the 60fps.
The confidence this lady answers every question with is astounding. This game is going to be a banger. I hope we get it.
@ChrisDeku You really need to chill out.
@Sarcasmatwork Eeer... banger? That is another word for flop?
@SMJ True, but they have to catch up after wasting time chasing the stupid GAAS dream.
Again, does it matter?
I could say there is NO point buying a PS5 because EVERYTHING is released on PC - even if you have to wait months/years for Sony to decide its now worth selling to those who wouldn't/didn't buy a PS5 to play it so would get NO revenue at all.
If you really want to play Avowed, Forza Horizon 5, AoE2, Age of Mythology, Hifi Rush, Indiana Jones, Sea of Thieves etc, they have ALL been on Xbox and PC as well as Game Pass. Starfield, South of Midnight, Forza Motorsport, Halo, Gears, MSFS, Fable, Redfall (granted not the best game) etc are all 'Exclusive' on Xbox. Game Pass too isn't on Playstation - that could make Xbox the 'best' value option for Xbox games.
It doesn't bother me that 'other' gamers also get the option to play on their 'preferred' Platform choice rather than 'miss out' or feel forced to buy something they don't want/need (hardware) just to play a Game. I'd prefer a world where you pick Hardware based on your own 'preference', not based on the 'exclusive' content which also means you'll miss out on others 'exclusives'.
Just like Sony is 'boosting' their revenue by releasing games on another platform to get money coming in from 'outside' their Ecosystem, MS is doing the same - but MS own Windows and Windows PC owners are also MS 'customers' and have their own storefront, sell a service on PC and of course don't need to port/optimise etc for other 'PC' sellers like Steam. With PS5, they have to port and optimise for Sony's 'system' and OS/API.
Anyway, as a Playstation 5 owner too, I'm happy to see many Playstation gamers getting to play some of the Xbox games I also enjoy. As a Playstation gamer, I should be more annoyed at Sony for their 'lack' of new Games - MS is likely to be the biggest Publisher, release more games on Playstation than Sony will and have 'more' gamers spending time in 'their' games, the biggest 'player bases', leading to more revenue from DLC/MTX's etc
I guess the narrative about Xbox having 'no' games has now become 'no' exclusives but I'd rather have more games releasing every year than just 1 or 2 'exclusives' I may want to play...
@MasterChiefWiggum Absolutely. As a PS5 owner I'm excited to see what comes.
However I'm also slightly tired of ONLY reading about games I've already played on Xbox.
Hopefully we'll see some good things from Sony soon.
@BAMozzy Great comment, well made.
It's all coming to PS5.
It won't be newsworthy before long.
The difference is that PS5 owners pay $70 for the games, where as PC/Xbox users pay $10 a month for access to the entire lot. Two different business models.
Take your pick depending on how many of these titles you'd want to play and for how long you want to play them. Plus how much cash you have in your hand now or whether renting is more affordable to test them out.
Agree with others though in that we've had options to play these games for a long time. These Xbox titles are on Geforce Now and run far better than they ever will on the PS5 Pro, let alone PS5.
Questioning how excited people really are to play games that they couldn't previously muster up the motivation to jump the very low bar required to play them.
I've literally bought entire consoles in the past to play a specific game (PS3/TLOU) yet people won't pay $20 + $10 for a month for GF Now + Gamepass to play these titles.
@SMJ I mean Astro Bot was GOTY and DS2 and GoY is coming this year. Its easy for MS to release tons of games now as they're one of the biggest Publishers in gaming.
Things have came a long way from "Xbox has no games"...
Now people are getting excited by an Xbox game maybe (not confirmed) coming to PS5.
Times, they are a changin'.
@GeeForce I'll be honest with you, man (I assume...). I've not ever heard the "Xbox has no games" thing. At least not enough to think it's something to consider common. Now, the PS3 most certainly got hammered with that phrase.
The cover art is a red flag to me, I won't support this until I know much more about it.
@Reform what about the cover art is a red flag?
@BAMozzy I'm 'glad' to 'see' you 'understand' the 'subjectivity' of the 'gaming' 'experience' and that 'people's' 'preferences' play a large 'role' in their 'console-buying' 'decisions.'
@DennisReynolds GOTY! 😂 Astro Bot deserved to win GOTY as much as Overwatch did ahead of Uncharted 4 back in 2016!
@commentlife If you know, you know.
@SMJ I will not stand for this Astro Bot slander.
Which is why I'm typing this comment while I'm laying down.
Does anyone actually doubt it’s coming? The only reason it isn’t confirmed yet is because the port ain’t ready and MS already has a stacked lineup of ports for Spring.
@Reform No, the cover art is not AI generated.
Just sold my Series X. My backlogs for both consoles were getting ridiculous and with this new Xbox strategy of not having exclusives anymore there’s no reason to own a separate console next to my PS5.
I certainly won’t miss those clicking controller buttons. PS5 controllers seem to be 10 years ahead in time.
@HotGoomba that’s definitely not what he’s referring to
@SMJ It was tied for the highest reviewed game of the year based on metacritics combined review scores. So yes it clearly did deserve to be nominated and win the award.
To many people are focussing solely on sales but if its only sales that matter then lets just accept that COD is GOTY for the rest of time.
@Darude84 In my opinion, the DualSense is an uncomfortable controller that has an amazing ton of features that most people turn off when playing.
Also, PlayStation will get new Xbox games BUT things like Forza Horizon 1, 2, 3 and 4 will never be available. Plus the many hundreds of other backwards compatible games that you can't play on PS5.
And the new games you're looking forward to will be on Game Pass day one. And if you try that game on Game Pass and like it, you'll be able to BUY IT with a big discount.
Or, you can pay Microsoft $70 to get it on PlayStation.
@IOI I imagine the port is ready, I bet the only delay is MS are spacing games out to maximise income. Spreading it out for regular income is the smart move.
@SMJ lol Just read a few of your past comments, you aint fooling anybody, clearly an xbox fanboy.
Maybe if xbox fans supported their own console by actually buying games, xbox wouldnt need playstation and nintendo to save them.
Xbox is a 3rd party publisher now and all their games will go everywhere, deal with it.
@SMJ FH 1/2/3/4 can't be got on Series S either because its digital only, in fact there's a ton of BC games you can't get on SS if you never bought them before they were removed.
As for Xbox games on PS5 yeah i own a Xbox but i shell buy them on PS5 because i own a Pro where they will look and run better then on Xbox.
@Darude84 I can take or leave the touch pad as aside from it being two extra buttons I have never seen a good use case for it. Haptics however are great and thee speaker is one of my favourite features. When its implemented well for radio chatter the speaker is chefs kiss.
@Darude84 I agree the Dualsense is miles ahead of the xbox controller. The haptic feedback is excellent, triggers feel much better, has a speaker and built in mic and the touch pad is useful for so many games. I don't get how people can say the xbox controller is better, the rumble is basic (even Nintendo does it better), the buttons are way too clicky, there's no gyro and it still takes actual batteries 😅.
@DennisReynolds @Ilyn I genuinely couldn't give a ***** about sales. Astro Bot didn't deserve to be GOTY.
And award ceremonies are rarely a gauge of what's good.
@DennisReynolds That's funny. I was playing Forza Horizon 1 on my Series S earlier because I own the game digitally.
And again, Xbox owners have always had the option to buy games they like and play them on whatever Xbox they want.
You don't need to find any clues every Xbox game is coming to PlayStation might not be day one probably 6 months to a year but they all are, too much money on the table for Microsoft to Ignore
@BAMozzy I agree
@MisterNintendo Unfortunately for you and your post, I'm not an Xbox fanboy. But thanks for spending your time looking back at my previous comments. It makes me feel special.
I have no horse in any console race. I grew out of that petty nonsense back in the SNES/Mega Drive days. I own all 3 major systems, PSVR2 and a Meta Quest 3.
In fact, if you delve deeper into my comments you'll see that I've owned every PlayStation since the beginning.
Your comment however, seems to reek of someone who is devoted to one plastic box.
@DennisReynolds And if you re-buy those games, Xbox wins.
@SMJ “Astro Bot didn't deserve to be GOTY.
And award ceremonies are rarely a gauge of what's good.”
Well not only did Astro Bot won more than 100 GOTY awards, it also had the highest scoring game of the year on both Metacritic and OpenCritic, even its user score is a 9.2.
So what would you say is a good gauge of what is good?
@SMJ Ahh the old, I own all consoles rebuttle yet at every turn you defend xbox to the end in your comments.
Nah nothing special about you, spotted you from a mile away, but keep pretending.
@SMJ "Or, you can pay Microsoft $70 to get it on PlayStation."
Because games never go on sale, right?
@LogicStrikesAgain I would say, a game that stands the test if time. I highly doubt people will be talking about Astro Bot in two years time.
Unlike Uncharted 4, which should have beaten Overwatch to GOTY. And yet Overwatch beat Uncharted 4 for pretty much every award that year. Which of those two games are better in your opinion?
@MisterNintendo You carry on with your one console obsession and tunnel visioned opinion. I'll carry on judging things impartially and without bias.
@SMJ "Or, you can pay Microsoft $70 to get it on PlayStation."
You mean $49, right? Since Playstation gets a 30% cut 😉
@ButterySmooth30FPS Of course they do. But I can see every Xbox game sailing to the top of the physical and digital PlayStation charts as soon as they release. At full price.
@LogicStrikesAgain The same 30% Nintendo get for Lego Horizon. I reckon Nintendo must have have made at least $17 dollars off the the back off that game. 😉
@SMJ Does that include the initial four ported over, or does that counter start now for better optics?
@ButterySmooth30FPS Oh do you mean games like Pentiment? Xbox were clearly testing the water. I don't really care what games get ported where. I'd love to play the Master Chief Collection on my Switch 2.
Would I buy it again for my PS5? No.
Will Forza Horizon 5 be top of the PlayStation charts? Yes.
Will Starfield be top of the PlayStation charts? Yes.
Will Halo MCC be top of the PlayStation charts? Yes.
Will Gears of War be top of the PlayStation charts? Yes.
And I don't care.
@SMJ If you don't care, why should I or anyone else in this comment section care?
@SMJ Good deflection! But let’s not get distracted by Nintendo. We were talking about how much Microsoft actually gets from that $70. 😉
@UltimateOtaku91 For me it is much better and ergonomic. People have different tastes. Nothing wrong with that. The PS 5 controller has way too many gimmicks.
@ChrisDeku For a "GOTY" Astro Bot sold very poorly. Same sales as Dragon Age Veilguard.
Truth is, PS5 right now doesn't have many exclusives most people want and the few ones people do want...end up on PC.
Second truth, Nintendo Switch 2 will likely release with more exclusives in year 1 than PS5's entire lifespan...
Ignoring VR games and shovelware...PS5 now only has Astro Bot, Astro Playroom, Dark Farts: Bollywood Smell Edition (yes a real PS5 exclusive), Demon's Souls Remake and Finger Fitness...a mobile port...as the remaining PS5 only console exclusives.
@TruestoryYep Same sales as Veilguard with a fraction of the expenses/overhead doesn't sound too poor, IMO.
@SMJ FH1-FH4 are delisted meaning if someone buys a SS today they can't play those games. There's a lot of BC games delisted on the digital storefront and its why i can't play Mortal Kombat 9 on my SS despite itching to replay it because its delisted.
No one cares if MS "wins" but you will when the next Xbox is the last Xbox.
It appears the platform wars have turned into
PC vs PS
with Nintendo as an onlooking neutral power
@TruestoryYep Difference is Astro Bot cost far cheaper to make then Dragon Age so it made profit and done well enough, Sony never expected Spidey 2 numbers.
By that logic Anora done poorly at the box office because it didn't make Wicked numbers even though it made a nice profit and gained a ton of award buzz.
Fact is the age of true exclusives is over for Sony and MS. Sony can't afford to keep the likes of Spidey 2 and Ghost of Yotel locked to a single console just like MS can't afford to put Indy on GP and not put it on PS5. Nintendo get away with it because they have far smaller budgets and the Switch is a money printing machine.
@TruestoryYep I see your point, but if its exclusives you’re after, i still think consoles, in this case Playstation, still offer a more compelling draw just for being able to play those big exclusives at release instead of having to potentially wait years for it on PC. GTA 6?…..
Also, you know which platform has even less notable exclusives that people want to play?
PC
@SMJ Should we then award GOTY with a ten year delay? This game was game of the year in 2015 because x number of people played it in 2025?
Enough of this bs by the way. All of these companies are pretty evil, and a lot of people reading these threads are simple minions like me who want to just own one console and have ALL the games right now. (Evil but cognitively challenged grin)
@ButterySmooth30FPS Exactly! You shouldn't! You're spending your life responding to comments I've made about games consoles. None of us should care enough when we could actually be doing something better than this.
@LogicStrikesAgain Genuinely, in the grand scheme of things, this is all irrelevant.
Do you really care how much Sony makes? They'll continue long after you die and won't care what piece of plastic nor games you bought from them.
Grow up and actually live a little. Choose Vita.
@DennisReynolds The next PlayStation will be the last. There won't be a PS7.
And will you really care in 15 years time if there isn't one?
If so, do things better.
@SMJ Says the guy who posted 10x as many responses as I have L O L
@SMJ Considering how well the PS5 is selling why will the PS6 be the last? Xbox isn't selling well, the Series consoles have sold less then what the X1 did last gen in the same timeframe. If MS is putting all new games on PS plus stuff like MCC why would anyone buy the next Xbox? You buy a PS console you get all the Sony games, all the 3rd party games and all the MS games. That's not being a fanboy that's stating facts.
@SMJ Haha dude, you were the one who brought it all up, i was just calling out an inaccuracy in your statement:
“Or, you can pay Microsoft $70 to get it on PlayStation.”
The irony of lecturing people to grow up, while you’ve shown little maturity yourself in this conversation, especially ending with an ad hominem. You might as well add that you hope i develop some self awareness to complete the irony 😄
But you’re right about one thing, there are far more interesting things to do than keep on arguing about this. Take care! 😁✌🏻
@DennisReynolds Consoles won't exist beyond PS6. Technology will take over. I can "BUY" TV shows, movies and music and keep them stored to a hard drive now. As long as they're tied to specific service providers.
Do you actually think Sony want to keep spending billions on R&D? Shipping?? Selling a console???
PlayStation store will be an app. Xbox store will be an app
@LogicStrikesAgain Far more interesting things to do - and yet you decided to respond AGAIN. 😴
@ButterySmooth30FPS So do better than me.
@ButterySmooth30FPS But again, thanks for researching and doing the calculations. ❤️
@SMJ Nintendo was apparently finished because of the Will U but then the Switch sold 150M units. Consoles will exist as long as people buy them
@DennisReynolds Nintendo was never "finished" because of the Wii U. They had enough money in the bank to go for another 180 years. Nintendo have iterated then failed. They have innovated then failed. They have a business model that allows dips in success. They are currently riding high on success. If the Switch 2 absolutely tanks (which I don't believe it will), Nintendo, as a company will be fine. They have the most lucrative IP in all of gaming and thankfully know how to use it.
Why do you want to spend $500 on a console every 6 years when you could have a future where you buy any game you want and play it anywhere?
@Nepp67 glad I wasn’t the only one that felt that way about the art style. It turned me off immediately.
@BAMozzy I hate PC its a terrible platform. I need bloody Windows or make a effort to run Linux. So i need a console and the PS5 is the best of Both worlds.
@DennisReynolds No exclusive games no use to get a new console. You can also make games that are cheaper Astrobot is one of them. Not every games needs to cost 100 million plus.
@SMJ If it makes it plug and play and corporate cant pull my games then yes.
@Flaming_Kaiser This is what I think will happen and also what I'm hoping for.
Basically, a PC under the TV. You can buy (and keep forever) OR you can play while it's there (like Game Pass or Netflix).
The option to own is a critical thing for me. I know that none of us actually "own" digital media, but I want some kind of assurance that my purchases don't disappear.
Everytime Xbox games are mentioned these comment sections turn into the exact same disingenuous mess as the previous one. Xbox super fans talking about how the PS lineup is bad by using a bizarre method of discounting any game that also appears on PS4(while Xbox and PC have basically zero exclusives under said criteria) and normally a few people talking about how much money Xbox are making, as a deflection technique for the hurt they feel at losing exclusives(as preposterous as that sounds).
1. Games being available everywhere is good.
2. PlayStation Lineup of games during the PS5 era has been stellar, and the coming year is a very strong one potentially.
3. A Sony published game has won the most GOTY awards in 6 of the last 12 years(EA being the other Publisher which has more than one win ironically). This is a fact. You can have your opinions on what you like etc. but Sony makes some of the best games in the world and has done so for more than a decade.
Given that not even Microsoft has bothered to advertise this game, the only thing they did was some damage control due to a controversy, I'd rather not see it on any other platform.
The fact that it's an XBOX exclusive means it's coming to PS5, which is an XBOX.
@CielloArc so MS did a dumb and the game and players should pay for it.
@Vaako007 Just reminded me too much of Veilguard which looked ugly with it.
@UltimateOtaku91
The biggest disadvantage of DualSense and Xbox controllers is that they do not have built-in hall-effect sensors. Back in the 90s, Sega used hall-effect sensors in its controllers. Microsoft and Sony are the biggest culprits that their controllers drift because they refuse to built-in hall-effect sensors in their controllers.
@UltimateOtaku91
I personally hate DualSense and the Xbox controller because they don't have built-in hall-effect sensors
@SMJ With the current industry they will let the new age get used to not owning anything and double down and let us pay for the same thing over and over.
