Capcom has addressed the feedback to Street Fighter 6’s crappy Fighting Passes, which are short-lived Battle Passes available periodically in the game.
In a statement, the celebrated publisher first promised that more outfits are on the way for its various cast of characters, but stressed they take an immense amount of work. Rather than release them all at once, it’s going to start deploying them gradually this summer, presumably with the most popular characters prioritised.

It then went on to share its ambitions for Fighting Passes in the future. “We have been reassessing their contents and the frequency of their release, and will be making changes in Year 3, with the goal of increasing the amount of items within each Fighting Pass that can be used in Fighting Ground,” it said.
This suggests to us that some future outfits may be included in the Fighting Pass itself, which we suppose makes sense as long as they can be purchased separately at a later date. Either that, or we’d like to see Fighting Passes made available permanently like in Marvel Rivals.
It’s too early for these changes just yet, and in the meantime it’s announced a Fighting Pass dedicated to newcomer Mai, which features various avatar gear and a retro game, in the form of Strider.

FINALLY! It was a shame that a great game like SF6 had such a sh*tty decision of making money out of collaborations people where buying to never actually use because everything was limited to the avatars.
The Anya's dress was funny but nothing else made sense after, I'm guessing they had to listen because of the only reason big companies listen, people actually stopped buying.
I personally don't care about costumes. My main Ed still used the default costume with color 2 or 3 and i already unlocked his second costume. So it's kinda weird to see some people obsessed that much about new costume.
Instead of costume, i rather have new stage because so far the stage looks great.
I often think about picking up SF6 and dusting of the fight stick, but the cost of all the extra characters always puts me off. Playable characters in a fighting game should never be behind a paywall, it's gross. You have to spend the best part of £100 to get the complete roster. No thanks!
@Old-Red "Playable characters in a fighting game should never be behind a paywall, it's gross."
Well the developers aren't working for free when they making DLC characters. Not to mention balancing the character as well arranging their own music theme require a lot of efforts. For SF 6 case, the DLC characters also needs to integrated into World Tour and Battle Hub mode. That's why one SF 6 character require at least 5-6 months to finish.
"You have to spend the best part of £100 to get the complete roster. No thanks!"
1. You don't have to buy them all. Just buy the character that you like or just stick with the base roster.
2. If you really insist to complete the roster then buy the season pass when there's a big discount. For SF 6, Capcom usually throw big discount around EVO, CPT, and Capcom Cup event.
@Old-Red Genuine question - if they had left it at the base roster would you buy the game then because it's "complete"?
As pointed out to you, these developers don't work for free. And the extra characters are really well designed.
Realistically, how many characters would you actually main? I've both season passes yet my two mains - E. Honda and Blanka - are base game characters.
It would be nice to have an option to purchase the retro games that are released with the battle passes should one be accidentally missed out.
@PuppetMaster Its nonsense i agree everthing need to cost and leg and arm. Then you start releasing BP with a timer which you can lose if your not fast enough. No Fighters are a rippoff now way expensive and monetized. Stripped to the bare minimum loaded with garbage that people dont even want. Man you would think these games are more expensive to develop then a fullblown Final Fantasy release. All the expensive editions do people really want them or do they need them to monetized.
It was annoying that most of the costumes went to the created player, so I’m glad more costumes will be available for the main characters. I remember back in SFV days one of the many complaints was that Chun Li had too many costumes. lol, I would like to see that happen in 6.
I hear a lot about how bad Mortal Kombat 1 is with micro transactions, seems like SF isn't far behind
The only way these 'battle passes' - in every game they appear in, not just SF 6 - can get better is if companies do away with them altogether. They are obnoxious.
@aj21009
Make no mistake about it, SF 6 already is just as bad as MK 1 in terms of microtransactions. The only reason you don't see as many complaints is because MK is the far, far more popular IP. I've had SF 6 since launch, great game overall, imo, my favorite fighting game on PS5 after Tekken 8, but the DLC scheme sucks.
@PuppetMaster all the modders do work for free and they seem to be doing a fantastic job.
These clowns shrink the rosters to sell you tons of characters later PLUS there is a battle pass.
Im baffled that someone would try to defend this
@Cry_Zero "all the modders do work for free"
1. Lol nope. A lot of modders doesn't works for free when they got paid from their patreon.
2. Most of SF 6 mods quality doesn't looks as good as official one.
"These clowns shrink the rosters to sell you tons of characters"
1. Again. You don't need to buy all DLC characters if you don't want to. Just buy one that you like or stick with base roster is enough, especially if you're not a pro player who needs all characters to compete.
2. Outside SF 4 vanilla with 25 characters, SF 6 base roster is 18 characters which is higher than:
3. Capcom build SF 6 from the ground up with new engine where each characters has a lot more detail and animations compare to all previous SF games. One SF 6 character needs 6 month to finish which is why SF 6 only got 18 characters in the base roster.
"Im baffled that someone would try to defend this"
I'm trying to be fair. But i'm more baffled at people who's ignorant AF and complaining for the sake of complaining.
@Flaming_Kaiser "Then you start releasing BP with a timer which you can lose if your not fast enough"
I don't know about other fighting games. But for SF 6 case, the Battle Pass has 1-2 month duration until the new one and they're very easy to complete. But you also don't need to complete them if you're not interested with the rewards.
