Polyphony Digital will upload its latest monthly Gran Turismo 7 patch on PS5 and PS4 within the next 24 hours, bringing the game up to version 1.57 and adding more cars, events, and an updated version of its AI system GT Sophy. The patch goes live at 10pm PT tonight for racers in the USA, which translates to 5am GMT tomorrow morning.
As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, update 1.57 introduces three new cars:
Aston Martin Vintage '18

Though sharing a platform with the DB11 V8, the Vantage body has a shorter wheelbase and is 120 kg lighter which results in a cornering machine that has been lauded as the best handling car in the history of Aston Martin. The powerplant is a Mercedes-AMG 4L V8 producing 502 BHP. With a 0-62 mph time of 3.7s, and a top speed of 195 mph, the car is also capable of supercar speeds.
Mazda CX-30 X Smart Edition '21

During the sport utility vehicle (SUV) boom that swept across the globe during the 2010s, Mazda introduced their CX-3 and CX-5 models, however there was a significant size difference between the two. The CX-30 is a crossover SUV designed to fill that gap in the line-up between the CX-3 and CX-5. While relatively compact, measuring 4,395 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width and 1,540 mm in height, the CX-30 still exhibits Mazda’s flowing, streamlined ‘KODO Design’ aesthetics in its exterior.
Renault Kangoo 1.4 '01

In France, there has been a long-running trend of ‘fourgonnette’ style vehicles, small commercial vans, with a number of bestsellers emerging over the years. One such car which stemmed from this trend was the Renault Kangoo, originally debuting in 1997. When developing the Kangoo, alongside optimizing its performance as a commercial vehicle, Renault also added some features that would give it some potential to be an MPV for personal leisure as well. This model included sliding doors for the rear passenger seats and separate rear seats that could be individually adjusted. This strategy proved to be a success and the Kangoo became the forerunner of the ‘ludospace’ leisure activity vehicle segment.
The patch also introduces an additional Menu to complete in the GT Café focused on Suzuki, and three more events have been added to World Circuits:
- Sunday Cup: Brands Hatch Indy Circuit
- European Clubman Cup 600: Deep Forest Raceway Reverse
- Japanese FF Challenge 450: Tokyo Expressway — Central Counterclockwise
Perhaps the most interesting of all the new content, though, is an update to Gran Turismo 7's high-end AI system, GT Sophy. It has been upgraded to version 2.1 and can now be selected as the "rival AI in Custom Race on all GT Sophy supported tracks and layouts in World Circuits". This feature is only available on PS5.

more is good, but I would really love to see some more tracks.
Is a 2018 Aston Martin really considered 'Vintage' now
The game is still alive? 🤔
Impressive? You're using that word sarcastically, right?
If there were a few extra tracks, cars, Sophy update, tweaking to the economy so we don't have to grind the same 2 races for a decent pay out, then this would be an impressive update.
3 cars, a few extra races (that will be those cars used on existing tracks) and a tweak to Sophy is just a mediocre update, same as we usually get.
This game badly needs some new tracks, I mean Eiger Nordwand was a nice to have but it's not a good track to race on and the daily races seem to have settled into a repeating pattern of a handful of tracks and combos. Even Sophy has been downgraded since it's first reveal and isn't as quick as it should be
Never been a gt fan played them briefly over the years but find them really dull even tried gt7 in vr and wasn’t impressed.
Love gt7 and here's hoping that the upgraded sophy 2.1 means that sophys cars are quicker as carlos 82 pointed out the sophy a.i as it stands is slower than the original sophy we will see tomorrow
@Glorioso Its more than just alive and still very active for a 3 year old game.
I think on the last set of Time Trials (which last usually 2 weeks) around 200k players placed a time and there's plenty who don't even bother with the time trails and just play offline - so to speak - or just do daily's or Sport mode.
Really pleased that custom longer races can be used with sophy a.i now with 2.1 ,just really hoping get a decent challenge with it all will be revealed tomorrow 😀
The Sophy update is massive. A huge improvement over the usual AI.
This game is still awesome despite all the hate some give it.
@solocapers thanks for the information, soon we'll have finally a top driving game in PS5.
@Glorioso If it's not alive, Sony / PD wouldn't keep updating the game with new contents or even held a global champhionship tournament.

@Residentsteven what's your go to racing game?
@captainsandman tbh I don’t have a current one burnout paradise was probably my favourite but I’m kind of interested in Forza horizon 5.
I'm tempted to get a steering wheel after all these years - any recommendations on a reasonable budget - probably less than $200?
@DonkeyFantasy it got me back into racing games after maybe 15 years in the wilderness.
@Glorioso GT7 with a good racing rig and PSVR2 is not a game, it's a lifestyle.
Is it just me or the Aston Martin Vintage is a new model that never existed before? Not even in 2018
@16BitHero Logitech G29 always used to be considered a good starting place. It's belt driven though, so not as good as a direct drive wheel. Direct drive is more expensive though.
Im not totally up to date on budget wheels. There may be a better option from someone like thrust master. Logitech G923 is the next step up from the G29
@DonkeyFantasy cheers, I'm going to look into it!
You can now drive a Post Office van in Gran Turismo 😂
@Prinnyonfire all valid points but somewhat ironically, the pretentiousness of this game is part of what brought me back to racing games. I played Horizon 4 because it was in the UK but the Gen A presentation turns me off some games these days.
@16BitHero just don't expect to be faster on a wheel. It's a really different experience and you will spend a lot of time spinning out at first.
@DonkeyFantasy I really like the dual sense gyro function already, never played it with thumb sticks. Willing to put the time in with a wheel. I'll use it for Dirt Rally 2, Assetto Corsa and maybe Wreckfest if it supports it.
@16BitHero I bought a thrustmaster T150 of ebay cheap because I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. The T150 is a much better entry wheel than the logitech offerings (my friend has the g29 and the force feedback is not as good.) I mainly play dirt 2.0 and EA wrc rally which are superb fun with a wheel. GT7 is also superb with a wheel. I highly recommend the T150 for a starter but I am waiting for the T598 to become available.
@16BitHero wreckfest is not good with a wheel..its just not fun and very difficult to set up. I've tried loads of different settings and none make it playable.
@Northern_munkey that wheel was on my radar - good to know and thanks for the info!
Removed - trolling/baiting
@Art_Vandelay 100%
@B0udoir the cars are not being charged for so not sure where you got that idea
And if you played the game you’d know they make some pretty decent dailies with these ‘stupid’ cars which are immense fun
@16BitHero it's a hybrid belt and gear system. Be warned though...Once you use this wheel on any driving games thar support it properly you'll never use a game pad again 😆
@Art_Vandelay if you say so. The game is for 0.1% who want a Renault Kangoo. For me the game is boring AF.
@PuppetMaster they don't have anything else to deliver on that category.
@Glorioso Yes they did.
@Northern_munkey that's the idea! Thanks again.
Nothing screams Gran Turismo more than tearing about the Nordschleife in an old mobility car
@PuppetMaster no, there's not any driving game from Sony
@Glorioso Gran Turismo is the bestselling PlayStation IP of all time, with over 100 million copies sold. That should put it a little bit above 0.1%.
@Art_Vandelay I'm referring to the setup you mencioned, a top setup with wheel, pedals, seat and a (lol) PSVR2.
PS: 100m diveded by 13 games is not that impressive.
@Glorioso You said "The game is for 0.1% who want a Renault Kangoo". Glad you corrected that absurd.
Now, 100/13 equals 7.7 million copies sold. This is an average, which should take into account that 5 of those 13 games are spinoffs. GT7 is estimated to have sold 14-15 million copies.
Not only is that very impressive, but it easily makes Gran Turismo the most valuable IP in PlayStation's portfolio.
I don't think that's impressive. S0me games sell more in launch day. Opinions.
