Grand Theft Auto 6 is no doubt the most hotly anticipated game on the horizon right now, and while fans are patiently waiting for more news about the open world crime drama, it seems Rockstar Games has other plans first.
On its social channels, the GTA developer has been promoting Marching Powder, the latest movie starring Danny Dyer and directed by Nick Love:
At first glance it seems like an unusual play from the game studio, but it does have a connection to Dyer and Love. Rockstar Games is actually credited as executive producer on the pair's 2004 flick The Football Factory, and on closer inspection, it seems it's the same case for this new film.
So, while there is a through line, most fans are somewhat baffled by this move, leaving confused comments asking why this film is being pushed but GTA 6 isn't. Alas, the wait for more news continues.
Maybe Marching Powder has a new GTA 6 trailer somewhere within it. Only one way to find out, we suppose. Will you be tuning in for Danny Dyer's latest exploits? Is your patience for GTA 6 news wearing thin? Tell us in the comments section below.

OK, there's this limey, some music industry slimeball, goes by the name of Kent Paul..
Huh, I didn't know Rockstar were credited as executive producer on a movie. That's interesting.
Looking forward to seeing Marching Powder, love a good Danny Dyer film
Plastic cockney fanny 😀
You know The Football Factory but not Kent Paul? Kent Paul debuted in Vice City... GTA VI is in Vice City... that means a GTA VI trailer is dropping soon! Have conspiracy theorists posted that on Reddit yet?
How many times can Danny Dyer say "West ham", "hammers" and "irons" in a movie? Lots.
The Football Factory’s a classic to be fair. And Rockstar is just a Yank enterprise incorporating IPs and talent from Dundee and London.
@Jrs1 Born in East London in the 1970s and underprivileged hardly a plastic cockney, he does over use his accent now days but people seem to like it, especially in gangster type films.
@Swirly he’s like MJ, he’s forever blowing bubbles
Dyer's a mockney chav.
@Rog-X I’ll trust a Cockney who made his money acting over a Cockney who made his money selling overpriced double glazing to old ladies.
@Deljo There's such thing as a good Danny Dyer film?
@JB_Whiting yeah there's a few bud. Football factory, the business, severance & doghouse are well worth a watch. He plays his character a bit but I like him 👍
Good ole Danny he just carving out a living like the rest of us and playing to his character in England. 🏴
I liked him in that game show when the balls dropped down, sort of suited him.
Never seen him at Westham in the old days 80s early 90s but then again I don’t do that anymore.
But I’m still alive 🤣
Have to see this. The og Football Factory film is an all timer trust Rockstar to be promoting this sort of movie 😁
@Deljo Rockstar produced The Business as well, arguably his best film. Human Traffic was another good one.
@Intr1n5ic absolutely human traffic, that's a great film 👍
I went to a screening of this a couple of nights ago. It's no Football Factory (It's hard to fill the shoes of Tamar Hassan and Frank Harper) I liked Calum MacNab (The Firm) the biggest problem I had was how the movie was marketed. A couple of weeks ago it was being pushed in press-kits as a romantic comedy (it's not) now it's being pushed more as a sequel to Football Factory 2, which it's not either. It's good to see Nick Love working on BritFlicks again (too much talent gets sucked into Hollywood and lose their spark, and BritFlicks that get a theatrical release are a dying breed) it just lacks the overall punch of Football Factory, a lot of it is in that trailer.
The best way I could summarize it would be that Football Factory was for everyone (depending on how desensitized you are to violence, I didn't watch it for the football) and Marching Powder is more for Dads (his son is in it too) Danny Dyer isn't getting any younger and it shows, but really that's part of the movies charm.
@Deljo Malice in Wonderland and Outlaw have their moments too. Outlaw didn't do too well even with Sean Bean, I liked it though. It was a mix of Death Wish/Death Sentence (really good Kevin Bacon revenge flick) and Harry Brown (Michael Caine movie also set in the UK)
Football Factory was a funny movie! Prefered this one over the Frodo football movie. Will watch this one.
It's almost like Danny Dyer was in Vice City as well
@GirlVersusGame you're right, I watched both of those on prime. You know what you're getting with Dyer, guess it's a love or hate thing but I can't think of a film with him that didn't enjoy
I’m guessing there’s a load of Marching Powder in GTA VI
@Onearmbandit looks that way lol
We know you all really want GTA6 info, so here's a B movie you don't care about instead.
Thanks R*
Whoever that random white dude is, he looks like the typical begpacker in Bali that really could use a good shower...
I’m fascinated by the first comment on this article - how do you write something so inappropriate you get perma-banned on an article about Danny Dyer? What did they say? What IS there to say, except “that’s odd, he’s a funny man, sometimes intentionally”
@Deljo also not a huge role but human traffic was a great film for it's time and Danny plays his character well.
He also played a pretty good role in the not to bad Mean Machine, with Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham.
Can't hate on Danny Dyer, he came from nothing and he just grafted until he made it.
