Santa Monica Studio has shared a new set of classic skins, weapons, and items will be added to God of War Ragnarok next week to celebrate the iconic series' 20th anniversary.
For PS5 and PS4, a free patch will introduce a Dark Odyssey Collection that contains a skin inspired by one from God of War 2 that you got for beating it on God Mode.
Named the Dark Odyssey Collection after the working title for the original game, this bundle of items comes with its own armour set for Kratos, additional items for Atreus and Freya, and a series of weapon attachments, appearance modifiers, and shield skins. See them all below:

In addition to the God of War Ragnarok update, the developer has shared some wider plans to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary. These plans include a fan kit, a new PSN avatar releasing on 20th March, new merch, art prints, and a cute plushie based on Jörmungandr. There's also going to be vinyls, clothing, and PS Store sales. You can learn more on the PlayStation Blog.
In the post, lead community manager Grace Orlady thanked all of the fans for helping to build a 20-year legacy for God of War. "Thank you for joining us on this adventure, we hope you’ll stay with us for many years to come."
There have been rumours circulating of a remastered God of War collection for PS5 being announced around the time of the 20th anniversary, so if those suggestions do come to fruition, look out for something next week.
However, in terms of the planned voice actor panel at least, Santa Monica Studio has already stated it doesn't have any announcements to make or news to share.

Beyond disappointing for the 20th anniversary of arguably PlayStation’s biggest franchise.
At the very, very least they should’ve put OG PS2 games on PS+ Premium, but of course the best celebration would’ve been a Greek saga collection remastered for PS5.
If there's not a remaster than Sony has completely fumbled the 20th anniversary and deserves ever bit of criticism.
Wait, both skin and armour? Woohoo! Not a missed opportunity at all.
@IOI @Americansamurai1 I think people really need to realise that fans care considerably more about anniversaries than companies do. You shouldn't really be going into these kinds of things expecting entire game projects; stuff like this is about the best it gets. When was the last time a company really, properly celebrated an anniversary the way fans hoped it would?
A lot of people wanted more, but this right here looks ok imo 👀🤔🙃
@LiamCroft I would argue that one of anniversaries for Mario, Nintendo gave us Mario Maker, which was not just a great nod to fans but was a really great game too.
@LiamCroft I mean the PlayStation anniversary was like two months ago and that went by alright.
What a busted way to celebrate!!!! I was expecting bloodborne remake and bloodborne 2 announcement. This is garbage!!!!
This is it?......This is all we get to celebrate one of the greatest game series turning 20? (sigh) This company is a joke 😑
@Oram77 Yeah if a game was going to come out around then anyway, why not? But they didn't make it specifically for that. Also games with Mario come out so often (on average 7 times a year since 1981, or more than once every two months) I guess it's more likely to have one by around the anniversary date.
Seeing so many people complaining about free stuff is one of many reasons I have so much trouble engaging with this website anymore.
@LiamCroft I'd say 15th anniversary of Xenoblade Chronicles this year. The anniversary itself is on June 10th but Nintendo celebrated it big as with the release of Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition next week, the entire franchise is now on Switch.
At the very least put Gow 1 and 2 the psp releases on ps plus premium
Hahaha I love the people pointing out how a company celebrated an anniversary by releasing a full price commercial product that they were hoping to make a profit from.
That’s not celebrating an anniversary, that’s just being a capitalist corporation.
@ChrisDeku The themes were cool
Wait, so there’s no OG trilogy remake at all? My fault for listening to these leakers 🤦🏻♂️
I hoped for new GoW for free
@IOI both games should be on ps plus premium as downloads upscaled to 4k no excuses there I actually don't care for remakes anyway I prefer new games I'm sick of remakes and remasters it's time to move on from the past
That's more than what we got for Jak and Daxter's 20th anniversary.
Sure, God of War is Sony's flagship IP and Kratos is the face of PlayStation. But yeah, it's better than nothing.
god of war, god of war 2, god of war accension, and god of war 3 are on ps+ premium
People forget that if any game was going to be announced for the 20th then it was probably going to be Bluepoint's live service game.
Cool but i want the OG games not skins. Hell at least put the original games on PS2/PSP classic selections if you won't do a remaster.
And they choose that one...?
@Keyblade-Dan agreed 👍
Well that's a big let down:(
So is anything going to be attribute useful or is it all strictly cosmetic?
Nothing wrong with skins but I'm 76% done w/ the game so if there's going to be anything useful I can keep doing side stuff before getting back to the main story. But not the tombstones, haven't been able to beat a single one of those yet. 😝
@trev666 Streaming only crap doesn't count
Wasted the opportunity to give the Blades of Chaos a Blades of Athena skin. Hope they reveal more skins from the previous games in the lead up, even if it's just palette swaps like this, such as Fear Kratos (3), Ghost of Sparta (GoS), & Olive Skin (A). Hell, put a wig on the model and give me a Deimos skin. this Kratos already has the beard.
I really wish I could like this version of gow I loved the original 6 games but these I took nearly 2 years to finish 2018 gow 😮. I briefly played ragnarok on plus but I’m still not a fan 😭 it’s the camera I think plus kratos son I find really annoying 😂.
@LiamCroft Sony went all out with hardware for the 30th anniversary, Nintendo does it sometimes every 5-10 years for their franchises, hell even Xbox celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2021 with a good looking console and a new Halo which also had its 20th anniversary.
I know it’s not mandatory to celebrate it that way but it’s a nice thing to do and Sony pretty much never does it for their games, it wasn’t an impossible expectation to get some remasters for such a big anniversary, more so with so many of them we’ve got recently.
And btw, what’s stopping them to just make the first 2 games available via PS2 emulation / PS+ Premium? I’d buy them in a heartbeat 480p and all.
@Americansamurai1
Why? Not Sony's fault the gaming community set themselves up for disappointment by trying to dictate.
I really hate leakers / insiders who spread false info.
Santa Monica never say or promised they gonna re-remaster old GoW games again, not even for 20th anniversary of the series.
They also doesn't have any obligation to release a remaster or a new game to celebrate the franchise anniversary.
But some people got stuck with the leakers false info thinking it must be true and now complaining about free stuff and also feel entitled to get their re-remaster of the old games. They set up themself for dissapointment but blame Sony for not doing what they want 🙄
@stefan771 it's their fault they don't make popular 1st party games playable on current hardware.
Geez folk are so entitled these days… why didnt sony do what i want them to do cos me being happy is clearly the most important thing in the world… they didnt have to do anything for the anniversary, the fact they did anything, and as a free update, is a nice bonus
@trev666 Only GoW 2018, Ragnarok, and 3 are on PS+. OG 1, 2, and Ascension are not available on any tier.
It's always laughable to see brand Allegiance zombies attacking people that have criticisms by essentially gaslighting.
Nobody said they wanted something better for free. Some merely stated on here they were hoping/willing to pay for something had something more substantial been released like a remaster collection. I again repeat that they are willing to pay for it and when you consider Sony and being extremely greed driven this generation, it's actually shocking they didn't just release another cash grab remaster or God of war doomed to drift themed controller.
However don't go attacking all these people saying they are entitled or ungrateful because none of them were asking for something better for free they were asking for more effort to be put in toward something that they would be willing to pay for......
