Intergalactic PS5 Is Playable Internally and Incredible, According to Naughty Dog 1

Naughty Dog’s new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, is not only fully playable internally – but it’s also “incredible”.

That’s according to the project’s potentially biased creator Neil Druckmann, who was speaking with IGN on the red carpet ahead of the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us, which premieres in April.

Earlier this week, Bloomberg journalist Jason Schrier implied on ResetEra that the PS5 exclusive won’t launch until at least 2027. While it’s worked on various ports and remasters in the interim, Naughty Dog’s last new game released in 2020.

But Druckmann has at least provided some hope that the project is progressing well.

“I will say we are playing [Intergalactic] at the office and it’s incredible,” he hinted. “It's really good.

“I'm so excited to finally put gameplay out into the world and show people about it, because we just showed you the very, very, very tip on the iceberg. The game goes pretty deep beyond that.”

We still don’t really know what type of game Intergalactic actually is, but judging by the trailer it’ll have melee-based combat, as you explore a hostile sci-fi world which no one is said to ever escape from.

Development on the game started in around 2020, so this would mark a pretty long cycle for the title, but it’s worth noting that it hasn’t been in full-scale production for the entirety of that time, as Naughty Dog has been working on various other things in the interim, including The Last of Us’ cancelled live service multiplayer project.

Hopefully we get to see more of the gameplay Druckmann’s teasing later this year, because even if the title is still a couple of years away, it’d be cool to see how it actually plays.
