Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 has been officially announced, only six months after the massively successful launch of Space Marine 2.
Publisher Focus Entertainment is partnering with Games Workshop and Saber Interactive once again on the follow-up to the hit third-person shooter.
On the publisher's website, a statement about the announcement teases "an even more immersive experience" in the threequel, "staying true to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, with intense, brutal, and spectacular gameplay."
It would appear that development has just begun on this new title, so it's likely we won't be seeing its arrival for at least a couple of years.
"Players can look forward to an immersive campaign, a multiplayer mode, and innovations that will redefine the standards of third-person action games," says Focus Entertainment's deputy CEO John Bert.
Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive, shares in the excitement. "Space Marine 2 has proven to be a transformative game for Saber," he says. "It is the culmination of everything we have learned about game development in our 25 years in the business. We are now starting to develop Space Marine 3, a game that carries with it tremendous expectations from our rapidly expanding fanbase."
Those who are still enjoying Space Marine 2 won't be shortchanged in the meantime. Bert and Karch say the team "will continue to support [Space Marine 2] with exciting content and regular updates in the coming years", so it seems there's no slowing down on the current game.

Hell yeah; this is awesome news. Space Marine 2 was fantastic, and I can’t wait to see how they outdo themselves in the third game.
Just got Space Marine 1, want to finish it first, but being a huge fan of W40K lore (read all HH novels) I am happy this series is getting more game(s).
The 2nd one has made me a fan again, even got some SM to make and paint. Is a really cool game with friends. Cant wait for the tv show aswell.
Wow they ain't hanging about are they. SM2 must've sold really well. Let's hope we get an evolution of the second game and not a 2.5
@dardel Is there any chance that they will reveal what happened to the 2nd and 11th legions. I don't know much about the lore but I love these types of mysteries.
This must be a hiring ad, right? Doesn’t make a ton of sense to announce so early into development. Once we see gameplay, I’m sure I’ll get hyped though.
Would love a remaster of the original too!
@heavyartillery56 i honestly doubt, from what I talked with a friend who is a bigger fan than me (has a custodes and salamanders armies) the missing primarchs and their legions might stay as that forever. There are a lot of hints about the primarchs in many books but nothing concrete. Live reading fan theories about those.
That was fast, I'm still hoping for another Inquisitor game. It will probably never happen.
I smell live service elements on the horizon.
A remaster of the first would be great, even just a frame and resolution boost. It's another game stuck kn ps3
Got half way through the campaign with missus and just kinda stopped playing lol
SM2 is awesome so bring it on.
@Alps_Stranger SM2 already has live service elements
Awesome. Here's hoping we go up against some Tau for a bit more ranged gameplay - some use of vehicles would be nice - and Emperor's Children would be cool for the heretic faction, and are a bit more into melee and swordsmanship than the Thousand Sons are.
@ChrisDeku I mean more. The quick turnaround just feels like a "we could be making even more money if we add more mtx, etc." move to me. But it's just a guess.
I really liked space marine 2 but I thought it was too short and the very soft image in performance mode was quite distracting. I loved the testosterone driven narrative and the gloriously over the top violence but I wish the campaign was longer.
@Northern_munkey the campaign was quite short but there's a lot of gameplay to get out of the Operations. I highly recommend them if you've not yet given them a go.
@Strafio I'll look into it at some point..👍
Great news. Space Marine 2 was my first foray into the Warhammer Universe and now I am hooked. Been playing a lot of Darktide and Vermintide 2. Fantastic games.
@JB_Whiting I think it sold in the region of 6 million copies.
Day one buy after Space Marine 2. Probably my favorite game of 2024 tbh.
It was my GOTY and still playing it. I look forward to the next installment!!!
