After devoting the majority of January to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, we're surprised at how much of a hankering we have to return to the wonderful world of Henry of Skalitz. We're holding out for the truly masochistic Hardcore Mode; developer Warhorse Studios recently detailed this punishing way of playing, as well as showing off many of the anachronistic hair styling and beard options coming to the game.
In a dev stream on Twitch (thanks, Game Rant), players were treated to a sneak peek at some of the surprisingly modern facial and hairstyles coming to the game, from the gloriously masculine mullet that seemingly never goes out of style, to that ridiculous broccoli-looking mop all the kids these days seem to be sporting (we are so old). Best of all, Henry will be able to look the part of the sullen emo-bard he was always destined to be.
Perhaps most exciting (if you're a glutton for punishment) was the reveal of new details regarding the game's promised Hardcore Mode, which we simply cannot wait for. Described as "a more difficult and immersive way of experiencing the game", certain UI elements will be hidden to make combat and traversal more demanding:
"Your character's position is never marked on the map, the compass doesn't show you cardinal directions, and fast travel is disabled." Add to that a set of new negative perks that drastically change how the game plays, and we can't wait to rise out of the medieval muck all over again.
What do you think of the decidedly modern hairstyles coming to the 14th-century Kingdom of Bohemia? Are the fair maidens and men of that era prepared for Henry's advanced hair-styling techniques? Are you broken in the specific way that makes Hardcore Mode sound so appealing? Let us know in the comments section below.

Ok that's great. But can they fix the sound stuttering bug on PS5? 1 month after release the game is still unplayable and the devs are doing nothing to provide a solution. This is not serious at all.
I beat the original in Normal and Hardcore, but it sounds like one might get lost too many times even though I'd say I know my way around (STILL on first map wrapping up side quests).
This game is many things and one of the things on offer is, in many ways, a educational sim that shows what people did back then to survive and build community.
As I keep learning from different NPCs one is never done with 'becoming' a good fighter. My Henry keeps adding to his list of tricks.
I read that Wonder Woman wouldn't even have featured a Nemesis system, and KCD shows that with its excellent morality system that you can get there without copyright infringement if you focus your reputation to be more involving on society instead of individual rivalries.
I can't wait to see how they will add to the game throughout the next two years.
Those barnets are like something you'd see on a modern-day footy player.
Cool, with this Mullet update, I can now imagine Henry as a present-day Australian that has somehow been transported back in time to Czechia.
The Adventures of Hendo the Bogan in Bohemia.
@B0udoir unplayable… sure…
Mullet Henry got that 1980s haircut.😃.Word up son
In the first picture, Henry looks like Robert Carlisle lol.
Was expecting the rumored MAGA Haircut patch which when equipped provides a significant boost to ore and mineral looting
Never played Hardcore in the first one but I am itching to try it on this one. Having played the first so many times, the sequel is a bit easy in certain areas so I'm hoping that Hardcore reintroduces the struggle.
I doubt I’ll play Hardcore mode. I’ve yet to finish default mode and I’m 200+ hours in the game. I was planning on finishing it by next weekend, but that doesn’t seem plausible with my work schedule. Maybe when Xenoblade Chronicles X releases on the 20th I’ll be done, but we will see.
I will definitely sport a mullet if I do a hardcore mode.
@bluemage1989 look by yourself at the official Reddit channel. Developers even acknowledged they are aware but still no fix in perspective.
