Legendary (and often legendarily weird) manga Baki the Grappler is getting a video game adaptation... but it's not what you might have expected.
Taking clear inspiration from the classic Punch-Out!!! titles, Baki Hanma: Blood Arena is a 2D, over-the-shoulder beat-'em-up where you'll need to get a read on your opponent's moves and act accordingly.
Unsurprisingly, the reveal has divided opinion. Some fans are just happy to see Baki get some recognition, while others have been left disappointed by the game's simplistic visual style and supposed lack of gameplay depth.
Baki Hanma: Blood Arena's coming to PS5 and PS4 at some point in September — but are you up for this muscle-laden brawler? Try not to burst a blood vessel in the comments section below.

Were fans hoping for yet another arena fighter? This is at least something different, though I'd also be pissed if they try to sell it for $60 or $70
Golden Virginia vs Amber Leaf 🥊
I love the idea. Very very little iteration on the classic Punch Out formula.
On one hand, its not another arena fighter.
On the other, this is made by the same devs who made that god-awful (imo) Thunder Ray game in 2023 so yeah, I wait for reviews but I don't have any hope for this at all tbh.
This looks like a lot of fun, there aren't enough games out there that are adapting the Punch Out formula.
Why not a 2D fighting game?
Baki Punch Out isn't a bad idea, and maybe this is just a trailer thing, but it seems to be cutting out too much for dramatic action shots. Could be a fun budget title
This series deserves better. It has so much potential
