While it’d never say it publicly, developer San Diego Studio knows Diamond Dynasty is MLB The Show 25’s bread and butter. This is the mode that undoubtedly gets the most engagement – and makes the most money.
It’s no surprise to see it go hard on this year’s version of the team-building mode, then – especially after last year’s Sets and Seasons system was so poorly received by the community that the company had to effectively come out and apologise.
Perhaps most pertinent to readers of this website, a new board game-style single player mode will see you exploring a map and completing challenges to earn rewards and a type of currency called Peanuts. You’ll be able to exchange these for perks.

For the competitive players among you, a new Weekend series will test the best of the best, and will offer the most appealing rewards.
Meanwhile, there’ll be changes to Team Affinity which will see you rewarded for using your favourite players from your favourite teams all season long.
So, a more traditional Diamond Dynasty this year, then, with more modes and content than ever before. Should be successful!

The last one’s DD seasons thing was truly terrible. I’ve been playing MVP 2005 the last week though (got in the mood after watching Ken Burns’ Baseball) and that game stomps on The Show’s gameplay despite its age. At least my main man Manny Ramirez from my Red Sox file in that game is being added to The Show 25 alongside the greatest name of all time Cool Papa Bell!
