Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment have jointly posted the patch notes for the game's upcoming 7.0 update, and while there are some nice additions, it's unlikely to placate the ravenous hunger of impatient players. In addition, they teased the anticipated Horde mode, but refused to divulge a release date.
In a blog post (thanks, IGN), we got a glimpse of the updates' inner workings, which will likely arrive on PS5 later in March. The highlights are likely a new weapon (PvE only to begin with), a new cooperative Operation, and the intriguing PvE Prestige Rank.
Space Marine 2's PvE Prestige Rank will allow players, upon reaching level 25 with a specific class, to buy a Prestige Level, which in turn unlocks a Prestige Perk. Patience and vigilance must be the watchwords of any Battle-Brother pursuing these accolades: "Choose them wisely, because you won’t be able to change your selected Prestige Perks before unlocking the four Prestige Levels." Other inclusions can be perused below:
- One Chapter Pack
- One Champion Pack
- Private PvP lobbies
- A new weapon (only in PvE for now)
- New Operation
- Weapon perks rebalance
- Class weapon loadouts rework
- PvE Prestige Rank
On the Horde mode front, we learned little, but Focus and Saber know players are champing at the bit to get at it: "You’re very eager to get more info on the Horde Mode. It’s one of our top priorities right now. One thing we can say is that it will be very different from the Space Marine 1 Horde Mode and that there are surprises we can’t wait for you to find out about. Once we get really interesting things to show you about it, we will do it! Bear with us."
Are you looking forward to new Space Marine 2 content in Patch 7? Or are you delaying your glorious return to the game until Horde mode finally arrives? Do your duty in the comments section below.

My friend enjoyed this game so much we played through the whole thing in one sitting on a Saturday. The multiplayer is surprisingly decent, it reminds me of old PS3 multiplayer suites when every game had multiplayer included. It felt like it could use more content and depth, so hopefully the rebalancing and reworks enhance that mode
I just hope the new operation is better than the last one. Ideally another Tyranid-focused level that is a bit longer. Looking forward to horde mode! 😬
I got bored of this game after around 17 hours. It just doesn't have enough content, and is far too repetitive. It needs a horde mode now.
I only play when there's an event. It most likely won't but ideally would be before Doom releases mid May. Delaying my return until Horde mode finally arrives. Postponed my last 15K kills for it
@FEWGEE1 it has a 10 hour story mode plus 9 operation missions plus multiplayer mode wtf do you want!?
