Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is not expected to release until at least 2027, and that’s left Naughty Dog fans feeling disappointed and frustrated. But new speculation has started circulating about a second PS5 project from the first-party studio.
The source seems to stem from entertainment insider DanielRPK, writing on his Patreon. This particular individual does have a track record when it comes to leaking information about movies, but his gaming credentials are less water-tight.
However, there’s nothing really new here. Naughty Dog already said outright that it has “more than one ambitious single player game” in development for the PS5, so this is not exactly a secret.
In fact, if you trawl through the studio’s enormous staff list on sites like LinkedIn, you’ll quickly realise not everyone is working on Intergalactic.
DanielRPK adds that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’s Shaun Escayg is leading this second game, which makes sense as he returned to Naughty Dog after a brief hiatus at Crystal Dynamics to work as a Creative Director.
As far as we can tell, Neil Druckmann and Matthew Gallant are leading the studio’s sci-fi project, so Escayg is almost certainly working on something different.
So yeah, based on the information available, we’d say this story is probably true – but with development cycles so ridiculously long these days, don’t expect to be playing whatever this turns out to be for many, many years.

There’s the heavily rumored Uncharted Cassie spin-off that’s still unaccounted for. The prevailing theory was that a studio other than ND was doing that, but maybe not?
Here's hoping for the life and times of Joel Miller
Just this week Neil said how they are currently working on one game and for TLOU3 to happen, the stars would have to aline as they can only currently work on one game?????
Unlike tlou, I can't get enough Uncharted. Wouldn't mind more Nadine and Chloe, great duo.
If tlou then I'd wish for a complete change of setting and characters, like South America, Europe or Africa.
I wouldn’t mind a Lost Legacy 2, imagine the set pieces you could pull off with the SSD.
I wish Sony would give Jak licence to some other studio and I can forget about Naughty Dog once and for all.
What a paw take😂
We probably would have had one ND campaign game releasing by now, if we know what had not happened at Sony HQ.
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSS
Uh yea we already knew that
Naughty Dog doesn't seem like studio that can handle two-game production at same time in terms of size of a studio. So I'm not holding my breath.
And that doesn't mean that second project isn't in some form of early pre-production. But if Intergalactic is 2027 at the earliest (which it is based on Schreier's comment from yesterday), this game will be out maybe in 2032...
@Th3solution I feel like a Cassie spin-off game would just be Tomb Raider lite (not necessarily a bad thing).
Makes sense. They have a B team.
Just when you thought the ND bucket was dry.... there's another random blogger to use as source material for a story.
A new Uncharted would be more then welcome. That small teaser a couple years back still gives me hope it will come.
My guess is whatever it is it’s even further out than Intergalactic, otherwise they would have revealed it instead.
I thought it was common knowledge that Naughty Dog had 3 games in development:
Intergalactic (unnamed at the time)
Factions (in limbo at the time)
Unknown/unannounced game.
Seems obvious this is the case.
Love ND and im excited for everything they put out. The wait is killing me though
@tameshiyaku I thought 4 was a great Sendoff for Drake. Maybe with some new characters that would be awsome.
@Godot25 Quality over Quantity if you look at COD half of their games are remakes.
JUST GIVE ME FACTIONS DAMN IT!
Uncharted with Cassie and the next big Sony IP is destroyed!
And honestly, with ND's current track record, I'd be surprised if Sam or a young Sully were allowed to take the lead.
I've always enjoyed Uncharted way more than TLOU, I really hope it's true, especially if Neil Druckmann is not that involved with it.
It's probably coming out in 2029. They're not going to announce a later game before an earlier one.
I don't want TLOU3. I'd be happy with another Uncharted, I don't really mind who the protagonist is. My preference would still be for a new game over a sequel
A remaster of the PS4 Uncharted title? I mean hey why not. No one asked for Day’s Gone to get a remaster. Just saying!
Crazy to think we haven't gotten a single game this gen from naughty dog
Fingers crossed its Cassie Drake. I remember a while back, playstation made a advert with small clips and one clip looked like Cassie doing some Uncharted type stuff. I'll have to get around to playing Lost Legacy at some point. So much to play atm.
I'm so uninterested in more Uncharted. It's of the time. Lets move on to something else
@HonestHick Uncharted 4 and lost legacy have a remaster on PS5. A remaster or remake of the first 3 would also be great to have.
@1UP-HUSKY Last of US had a remaster on PS4 and that didn’t stop a PS5 version. I was being silly as i don’t think it’s really that. But with the way we have gotten remasters of games that don’t really need remastered I’d say never say never.
@Th3solution I’m really wanting a Cassie spin-off. And I want it to be a bit different than the Uncharted we know. She’s going om expedition more like a photographer journalist with her dog Viccy. More puzzling, less action. Throw in a bit of the original Beyond Good & Evil style of gameplay and I’m all in for it.
Chloe and Nadine teaming up again would definitely be something I'd want to see more of.
I'd be happy with a smaller affair like Lost Legacy. Something ND could knock out to fill the big gap.
I'm slightly (actually extremely) baffled as to why everyone wants a Cassie game.
What do any of you even know about Cassie? You played her for all of 5 minutes in what amounted to barely more than an Easter egg, just walking around doing nothing.
I mean....what? Why?
Reminds me of when everyone was banging on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about Starfield.
I actually Googled it to see what the first game was like, as I'd assumed Starfield was a sequel to some really good game I'd missed.
Nope. Turned out they really were all in a frenzy over a few screenshots, and had decided that it would be a life changing experience.
Amazing how many people turn into die hard passionate fans of something, just from seeing a tiny little crumb...
Makes sense tbh. I’d be down for the main dogs passing the Uncharted torch to a smaller team. The franchise is too good, fun and popular to abandon completely
I would like a remaster of Golden Abyss.
