Stellar Blade is coming to PC in June, with Sony acting as publisher on the smash Shift Up character action game.
It’ll also be taking full advantage of Nvidia’s latest line of graphics cards, as this impressive gameplay demonstration showcases.
In it, we see how DLSS 4 technology and frame generation can boost the game’s frame rate in full 4K from around 120fps to up to 350fps. Of course, you’ll need to be willing to spend over $2,000 on a cutting-edge GeForce RTX 5090 to get these kinds of results.

For those who don’t know, DLSS 4 is the latest version of Nvidia’s proprietary AI-based Deep Learning Super Sampling technology. It works by taking a lower resolution image and upscaling it to full 4K, with very few compromises in image quality.
This means the overall computational overhead is low, allowing the processing power to be focused on frame rate as opposed to pure pixels. It’s similar to the technology Sony’s been working on with AMD, which has produced PSSR and FSR 4 so far.
Frame generation, meanwhile, uses AI once again to inject additional frames and provide a smoother overall experience.
Stellar Blade, of course, already looks and runs fantastic on both the PS5 and the PS5 Pro, so while these PC results are certainly impressive, you can still enjoy an amazing experience on console.
However you play it, make sure you give this release a go if you haven’t already – it’s an extremely fun action game.

Stellar, you can now see those [REDACTED] at a higher frame rate!
if its not 1200fps, i dont care
So if you have a gaming rig that costs 3-4 times the cost of a ps5 (the peasants version not the pro) then you can play stellar blade in all its fizz and bang and then tell us console peasants how the master race wins...we will let them have this one so maybe they will stop moaning for 5 mins about how Sony force them to have a psn account before they can play. Not going to happen is it?
the mods are gonna be insane
@Northern_munkey
1. People with jobs have money to buy cool stuff
2.People should complain when companies are making unnecessary changes.
The game was already optimized really well for console when I played and beat it on release so I have confidence the pc port will be good, without the need of dlss.
Man, im glad im not someone that can tell the difference between frame rates. What would i have been like in the early 90s if i was.
In what world is generating fake frames meant to be impressive. Interpolated anime looking garbage
@breakneck Can totally see that, like its setting has been spurned out of an AI suggested theme.
Yes, I will buy this game for the 3rd time
What this article doesn't mention, though Nvidia themselves don't make it clear, is that this "framerate" is achieved with their multi frame generation technology and not just DLSS 4 upscaling, so 3 out of every 4 frames displayed, is an AI frame, so not real performance.
Not a single person on this planet is playing that in 4x frame gen to get 350 when you could play it 4K/120 and it be stunning
"in full 4K from around 120fps to up to 350fps"
This isn't even funny anymore. What eyesight or variably related medical conditions should one even have to benefit from stuff like this or even maintain awareness thereof without relying on Figital Doundry's spec porn? If there's an answer, then it could at least be filed under something useful like accessibility options (commercial accessibility notwithstanding). Otherwise, this is the very drain down which all the modern budget bloat goes with no practical OR aesthetic contributions.
Frame genning is a blight on artistic intention and deliberate optimization. Hope it never comes to consoles.
I’m all for 300+ fps if every frame within those animations where actual animated, not when 240+ of them are interpolated by some AI.
Personally anything over 120FPS seems to a waste of time.
I mean technically it’s impressive but my eyes can’t tell the difference. Having 360fps surely is just about bragging rights between geeky pc gamers?
@carlos82 I didn't actually know that, so will update. Thanks!
@get2sammyb no problem, I think Nvidia have been purposely vague about what these numbers represent recently whilst marketing their new 50 series. So even for someone like myself who spends way too much time following the tech side of PC gaming, it's not always immediately clear what's actually been represented in these videos and graphs
350fps, well that's even more then real life!!
@Northern_munkey I like how you say that as if many PlayStation fans don't cope trying to justify their purchase/platform themselves lol
That Rise of the Ronin PC comments was exactly that. Game didn't even run well on PS5, but because the PC version had issues that's somehow a victory. Even though the game is sub 1080p and cant hold 60fps on PS5.
@Shad361 I know the irony of it 🤣
The best thing about this is the cosy warmth you have all around your pc in the winter. I'm not sure it's useful to have a million fps when your screen is only 120.
I just got me a pc. And I am struggling to tell the difference between 60, 90, 120 and beyond for games that I'm able to up the fps. I feel scammed bros...
But anyway I'm excited to replay this on it plus do whatever new content the nikke dlc has
@Judal27 For me, it’s more about reducing latency than anything.
For games that require timing for Perfect Dodge and Perfect Blocks, they are easier to pull off because the response time when you push the button to action on the screen is darn-near instant.
Unfortunately for frame generation, the latency is still based on native frame-rate and not the output framerate.
That's a lot of fake frames.
@GamingFan4Lyf I'll need to do some more thorough tests then. And I try to keep frame gen off but so far I haven't really noticed any serious input lag when it's on
The PS5 Pro makes this game look and run fantastic at 4k 80 fps so I'm good, plus you've got the low-latency mode that really changes the game.
@Judal27 Same. Nvidia Reflex helps, too.
But if you are using frame gen as intended (e.g. not trying to push 30fps to 60+fps) there isn’t a drastic change…but it will still be felt depending on the game.
Alt+R (or is it Ctrl+R) should bring up the Nvidia performance monitor and it will show Latency.
I have seen it at 0ms for a some games (mostly games that can natively run in the 120+ fps) - especially like PS4 era and earlier.
It also depends how you play. For a lot of games, I use either the Xbox Controller or DualSense Controller depending on support. Games already feel better over console, but it’s not to the point where going back to a console would feel bad.
Where it’s felt more is keyboard/mouse where higher fps is like 1:1 movement with your hand motion.
I guess, in the end, it’s something I feel more than see.
My monitor is 165Hz. I couldn’t tell you if a game is running at a high framerate by seeing it, but I could if I play it.
The best demo is to play something like God of War on PC and then try to play it on PS5. You’ll notice a difference in how it feels to play. It may not be “unplayable” on PS5 as some elitists will say, but it will feel less responsive than being used to the game running at 120+fps.
@nhSnork “ variably related medical conditions should one even have to benefit from stuff like this or even maintain awareness thereof without relying on Figital Doundry's spec porn? ”
Could being a 20 year old professional League player count as a medical condition?
But how much it costs to run it?
@GamingFan4Lyf

That's why I'm glad to be a casual who's happy to play on consoles.
@Shrek_Realista I was happy to be on consoles too. I got out of consoles because I don’t like where the market is going.
With Microsoft essentially imploding and Sony continuing to gain a commanding lead, I don’t see a great future for consumers going forward
Plus, I am finding myself going back in gaming history to older titles. PC has access to a ridiculous amount of older games that none of the “Big 3” really have access to anymore for one reason or another.
I also used to be a big PC gamer from around 2000 - 2012 until I stopped in favor of consoles.
At the moment, my PC is a beast and far out-performs consoles. It’s a great perk that I will enjoy as long as my hardware will let me. But it’s not why I decided to mostly bow out of the console space.
Eventually my PC will be “on par” with consoles - and I am okay with that. But, for what I want to do with it and for the games I play, I feel like it’s just a better ecosystem to be in for my needs.
@Rhaoulos cough 165 fps actually cough , but you ain’t wrong about the heat . my pc heats up the entire damn room. it’s a big boy .
@Judal27 idk how you can’t tell the difference. higher fps affects the speed and responsiveness of the game; what games you played on it so far? you played a shooter yet? i can tell you once you see it you won’t be able to unsee it. 120fps makes 60 feel close to 30
@nomither6 so far I've only really played wuthering waves and mh rise but it isn't extensive play. Like I'm just fiddling around so far trying to see what looks best and whatnot. But I truly couldn't see or feel a difference. I downloaded bo6 so I'm gonna try that out in a bit
It's not "cutting edge", it's a stupid waste of time kludge. It only makes latency worse, which is all "frame rate" is usually a measure of anyway, so with this nonsense you get a smoother frame rate but worse latency, which is pointless. It's not worth using at all if you're already only getting a low frame rate because it won't make the game smoother to play, and if you're already getting a high frame rate then it's not making any difference because it's already smooth. It's an utter waste of time and it's depressing to see Nvidia waste their time developing this instead of actually useful things.
@Tulipanzo I dislike frame generation in games as well, but the tech is not exactly the same as frame interpolation/motion smoothing you'll find on most TVs. Yes, both form an interpolated image between two images, but the frame-gen on PC uses motion vectors to improve the result.
The problem is, while it will be better than the motion smoothing on your TV, it will still have added latency and visual artifacts. It should never be used with less than 60fps base framerate.
@heavyartillery56 "People with jobs have money to buy cool stuff." I have a good job that pays well enough for me to indulge my gaming preferences and my golf addiction but I'm careful with my cash and I have no desire for a exorbitantly priced pc..I'm happy with what I have.
@Northern_munkey Just want to let you know that Piracy is massive on PC so probably most high end pc users live in countries with weak piracy laws. Just spend as much as possible on PC and you are golden.
@heavyartillery56 good to know but like I said I'm more than happy with what I've got.
@Northern_munkey more like 7x the price for a rig running a 5090, Its 4x just for the card on its own. Top end Nvidia cards are so ridiculously over priced these days.
@Ilyn it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. If money was no object and I was filthy, filthy rich I'd have a gaming rig that would require its own nuclear reactor to run but I haven't so I don't..
@Northern_munkey what's this about them, they, we...?
How old are you? There are stupid people amongst all the users on every platform.
I personally have both and am happy to get stuff on ps5 I can't get on pc and the other way around. My pc only users friends don't even think of complaining about that PSN account thing. Do remember it's the d*cks who are the most vocal.
All that negativity all the time, what's the point? Of course if you pay more you'll get more!
@Selogon well there's many things I could go into and I have nothing against pc gamers or any other gamers if I'm totally honest. If you read any of my posts about pc gaming and pc ports you will clearly see this is the case. Do you go onto pc sites and berate the pc gamers for similar comments? As for my age you can also work this out as I've mentioned it a fair few times when dealing with the much younger generation who think they are the hard-core gamers amongst us..have a good day 👍
@Northern_munkey I meant kid level act of putting everyone in the same bag.
Yes I do the same when I encounter "pc master race" lords.
I used your post as an example of just how every comment on many internet forums must be so negative.
Lately I've been silly and went over the Steam forums, and now that's a nest of d*cks, and now I tend to try and get some education around lol.
Probably misguided, but truly, as usual on written form, it's difficult to show balance.
Goes both ways as I can see, so apologies about my wording, but the sentiment stays the same!
@Selogon no need to apologise as everybody is entitled to their opinion. There are many, many negative gamers over all formats (I am very sarcastic and do like to take the piss out of the oh so serious gamers.) I have a particular disdain to those who hijack the comments section for personal self promotion and turn it into a political debate. I am 52 years young and extremely cynical when it comes to matters concerning the human race as a whole. Moving forwards when reading any more of my posts I'd take them with a pinch of salt and most people here know when I'm being serious. No offence taken by 👍
@Northern_munkey great, I'll keep it in mind, haha.
Again, my gut reaction was uncalled for, and it's also for myself to be sorry for it.
I'm not perfect and probably also make comments that can make others hair bristle!
