The Last of Us 2 Remastered is coming to PC on 3rd April, ahead of the premiere of the second season of HBO Max’s critically acclaimed television adaptation. But if you already own the game on the PS5, there’s lots to look forward to.
Naughty Dog, in partnership with Iron Galaxy and Nixxes, is adding new content to the re-release’s roguelike mode No Return, including two new playable characters: Bill (Smuggler) and Marlene (Risk Taker).
Each character has a unique playstyle giving you new options to experience the mode, and there’ll be fresh Trophies to unlock along the way.
But that’s not all: No Return is also getting four new maps to master, including Overlook, School, Streets, and Nest. Each one has been inspired by a section or moment from the main campaign.
Meanwhile, a new outfit for Ellie inspired by Naughty Dog’s upcoming Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will also be available to unlock by spending in-game points. If you’re a PC player, you’ll be able to access this costume by optionally linking your game to the PlayStation Network.
Those of you planning to play on PC will find a whole slew of other improvements, including support for ultrawide monitors and DLSS upscaling compatibility.
There’s absolutely tons to look forward to whichever platform you’re playing on, then, and more than enough incentive to return to the title ahead of the new season of the show.

In before the brain dead comments, I was actually thinking about doing another play through of part 2 soon. Say what you want about the game, but the game play is actually phenomenal and still hasn't been topped.
One of the best games of last gen, but also one of the few that were genuinely emotionally draining to the point where I've yet to replay it (and I have the PS5 version since it released).
Yeah - might be the best game I’ve ever played. That game was so emotionally draining and the gameplay was so tight that when it was all over, I didn’t even pick up a controller for six months.
I’m actually playing this right now. It’s my first replay since the PS4 version and I’m having a great time. Obviously the story doesn’t hit quite as hard the second time around, but the combat remains first class and it’s still my favourite game of all time. Looks gorgeous, too. Never understood the haters.
Ooof that jacket looks dope
Funny how I never got around to playing this on PS4 despite owning a copy for a few years lol. I did end up selling it once the PC port was announced since I plan on finally playing it on PC.
That jacket makes me think of cyberpunk 2077 and fallout 👀
It’s good that they are releasing more maps and characters and for free on top of that🤩
YES! THE MOST UNDERRATED GAME MODE OF ALL TIME IS GETTING NEW MAPS AND CHARACTERS. I'M HYPED!
It's still crazy to me that they're supporting TLoU2 with partners like Nixxes, meanwhile they completed Factions and then threw it out at the seemingly last moment. Bring back Factions!
@Ludacritz Slightly different scale of project here to be fair.
@MrPeanutbutterz I think that was my main dislike of the game. It was really really heavy and draining to play. So much so I found it depressing and not enjoyable.
2:47 anyones madness bracket destroyed yet?
After finishing the original in 2013 and part 2 in 2020 I didn't want to play anything else for ages. they're just so good and so impactful. 2 or my favourite ever games
@get2sammyb No, of course. Just venting that if they're able to use the help of support studios to add in new characters/ update game modes in TLOU2, then they should be trying to figure out Factions. But, I get it.
No Return is so much fun so i shell be checking this out when it drops.
I got the plat for this when it came out but I left the No Return stuff for when I'm in peak TLoU mode when Season 2 hits!
@MrPeanutbutterz This is actually my mentality, too. I played TLoU2 for the first time when the remaster came out. I was absolutely blown away, but it was just so emotionally draining that I don't know if I'll ever play it again. I think watching the next few seasons of the HBO show is the closest I'm gonna get.
Why does this have a remaster????
@wildcat_kickz I've been trying to work up the courage to play Remastered on PS5. I got the platinum on the PS4 version so I played it 1.5 times already. I'd like to get the platinum again for this version without transferring my save now. But I look outside and the sun is coming out on the first day of spring. The game is so dark emotionally and visually with the constant rain. But I'm gonna give it a go this weekend. I'd like to get it played before the new HBO season comes out. It is one of my favorite games of all time though. I was lucky enough to avoid all the spoilers on the first playthrough and it hit hard. It may not hit me as hard this time but it'll hurt.
@wildcat_kickz @Boxmonkey Yip. I maintain it's an incredible experience, just not necessarily a "fun" one.
@Oram77 the combat and exploration are superb. At the time when it released I thought the game was a little to long but now I wish they would add a few more chapters or a new dlc side story. I do agree with you the game without the remastered version still holds up well.
@BleedingDreamer Guess all we can hope for now is a part 3 (inhales copium)
@wildcat_kickz I remember at the time it was compared to Schindler's List but playing it the game experience feels like Grave of the Fireflies for me.
A legitimate all timer that just keeps breaking you down to the point I'll probably never watch or play them again.
@breakneck I think your comparison with Grave of the Fireflies is pretty spot on. The movie is excellent (kudos to Studio Ghibli & Isao Takahata) but i only watched it once and all these years i never rewatch it because i know i will cry a lot and feels awful after the end credits shows up 😭
I felt quite the same way with TloU 2. I really like the game but i'm not yet replay it since i finished it back in 2020.
@breakneck Grave of the Fireflies is the textbook "great movie you'll never watch again" for me, so I can kinda see why people feel similar about TLoU 2. I didn't find the game quite as bleak and hopeless as that movie though, and come to think of it, nothing else out there is.
@Ainu20 Yeah definitely not "as" bleak but by gaming standards it is up there. Grave of the Fireflies ruined my mood for a few days when I saw it as a teen who was watching "the best of Ghibli" from a listicle online.
@breakneck Going from Totoro to Grave of the Fireflies was certainly a unique experience when I first discovered Studio Ghibli. I was not prepared.
One run through of Misery Simulator is more than enough for me, and that was with skipping most cutscenes.
