You Can Get a Head Start on Next Week's Big PS Plus Game

I wish there was a PS Plus Premium trial for DA (I know there’s one if you have EA Play). I recently finished DD2 and don’t want to start a new game just for the weekend. Can’t wait to sink my teeth into DA:V and a trial would have been proper head start. Character creator is more like a teaser.

Over 60 hours into this game and love it! Ignore all the hate and just play it.

@Mikey856 The game already under performed massively and every writer along with a ton of other developers got moved or fired.

The haters aka people who expect experienced studios to release good games won this one.

So many people complained about such stupid stuff and no one said the hairstyles suck.

@Mikey856 By now you should be well aware that the creatures in charge of movies, tv shows and games are indeed just humans like you and me and they can be just as petty, biased and flawed as you and me. Quality and appealing to the most amount of people is not always a priority and when you are dealing with AAA budgets... you end up having to lay people off.

I was referring more to the variety of hairstyles.
I didn't like a single one. 😅

It's hard to tell these days if a game really is as bad as people say because review bombing and hate has become so weaponized, I'll give it a go and see for myself.

Well, there's review bombing and there's 'giving the game away for free'. I've never seen that happen with a triple A game of this caliber before. So I tend to believe there's truth in those teviews, that this game is not up to the standards as we expect from this franchise/developer.

@ThaBEN Plus+ isn't free and review bombing is done to try to damage potential sales and leverage the overall say about a games quality. There could be a million people saying 'don't try this game', the only thing I'd lose by not listening is some of my time. If I did listen to them I'd lose my personal choice and the ability to think for myself, the latter is more important.

And not that it matters but it's now sitting at an 82 on Metacritic along with: Helldivers 2, Lost Judgement, No Man's Sky and PGA TOUR 2K25. When I do look at those zero scores I see the word 'woke' over and over again, that tells me all I need to know about standards and expectations. It doesn't help either that those negative reviews seems to be written by twelve year olds who can barely string a sentence together.

@mkr Because Metacritic have been deleting negative comments like that for the last couple of months. I saw the feedback at launch, it told me all I needed to know. It could be mentioned only once, twice or a hundred times. Once is enough for me know not to listen to anything they have to say. I agree with what Mikey said, it's going to be popular on Plus+ regardless.

People are desperate to hate this game aren't they? Its almost comical.

@ATaco I don't take sides, I make up my own mind and don't need others to try to do it for me. I've never once seen anything positive come from exclusion and ignorance. Video games don't exist in a vacuum, all kinds of people buy them and all kinds of people play them.

If a developer decides to represent those people then more power to them, it's not for me to decide. It's their IP, they can do what they want with it. Telling someone 'oh you are this, or you are that' doesn't work, I'm neither.

People may have genuine grievances with a game, I'm not saying they don't. It's unfortunate for them that there is an element who do hijack gaming to spread hate and nonsense. When that does happen those genuine grievances get overshadowed.

I don't see anything wrong with people doing what people do, it's their business not mine. I have my own life to live without worrying about how others live theirs. That's why I think exclusion is absolutely nonsensical. It promotes fear, hate, anger, violence and human history has many examples of where that can lead to.

I play games to relax and experience different worlds and different paradigms. I'm not going to throw my toys at a developer when they decide to do something I don't agree with. They don't work for me nor do they work for you. If I don't like something I don't buy it. I might make it known constructively but I'm not going to use some preconceived agenda to fuel that opinion.

There's no great hidden meaning to any of what I said. It's just that simple and individual people are more than capable of forming an opinion without having to follow the herd.

Then why even read reviews, particularly any 1 or 10 reviews? Those will always be the extreme ends of the spectrum, particularly for user reviews.

Fair point. The market will speak if that's what people want.

This element, of course, once again goes both ways. Toxic negativity against toxic positivity.

True enough but I don't think forcing people to change kicking and screaming is the way to go about it. If you demand something of someone then they are much more likely to become even more firmly entrenched in their beliefs and even more combative with you. All this "these people are monsters and bigots because they don't see the world the same way I do" needs to end. Without mutual understanding there can be no harmony.

I believe this is what a lot of people wound up doing, in the end. When you think about it, the people who take the time to right angry and hateful comments on the internet are still only a miniscule fraction of a game's playerbase. Ultimately, if a game is truly good then people will buy it, regardless of any political messaging it may have within.

This is where I hard disagree. Humans in general are herd creatures. There is comfort to be found in being told what to think and how to feel about things, especially if it aligns with personal morals and values that the individual has developed over a lifetime of memories and experiences. A human did not just one day wake up and decide "I'm going to hate X thing now." These feelings are deeply rooted within, which is why it's so hard to convince someone of something when it's how they've seen the world their entire life. I'm not saying this is a good thing or desirable...I'm simply trying to understand how people behave the way they do. Too often we cast aside that which we do not agree with and it only leads to more violence and anger. The worst part is while I understand why someone might behave the way they do, it's another thing entirely to get them to change. We just have to keep trying our best.
