Already considered a "must-play" for PSVR2 enthusiasts by us, the VR version of Hitman will take a new patch later this week that improves the virtual reality edition further and irons out any loose ends.
In terms of actually upgrading the VR version itself, the update will improve the audio and haptic feedback in relation to your weapon holsters. Then, the patch works tirelessly to clean up over 100 bugs and glitches, with fixes for issues like crashes relating to saving and loading.
The update will go live on Thursday, 10th April. The full patch notes will be shared then, but there's also updated aiming, fewer "fade to black" instances, and more to look forward to.
When we tested Hitman in PSVR2 last week, we said: "Hitman: World of Assassination in VR is a massive step up from previous VR attempts, utilising the sharp display and pinpoint motion tracking of the PSVR2. If you’ve already played through IO’s incredible trilogy, then donning the VR perspective will feel like a brand new game."

I’ve been having issues where if I open a hiding spot to hide or to hide a body, it opens halfway and gets stuck and I can’t use it. I hope that gets fixed and I think it will. However, they really need to add in the ability to keep in first person at all times, even during the animations that you were putting in third person for Some of the coolest stuff from the first version on PSVR1, are now ruined because you’re taking out of the moment. Just make it like resident evil eight cut scenes where it’s a locked animation. It might be a little janky, but it’s so much better than the awful third person they have going on. It’s a perfectly acceptable jank too. Resi 8 cutscenes were incredible in VR.
Where's the Subside & Arken Age reviews? LOL
Subside deserves all the hype and recognition it's been getting on PC VR. Although, it's in desperate need of music for each section to enhance the atmosphere and fun. But Behemeth? Total snore fest outside a couple of the behemeth boss battles. And Arken Age? I dropped out after 2 hours or so. Most of these VR indie games just aren't compelling enough. SO much of it starts to feel the same, because of the samey' FPS motion controls and excessive motion based interactivity when it comes to climbing walls or mountains, and swinging some janky sword.
Don't get me wrong, VR Motion based aiming/with a gun is top dog. I love it, including VR 1:1 shield controls and other stuff. But climbing with motion controls and even sword play rarely ever feels enjoyable. It's often janky and more annoying than enjoyable.
Still need to play Alien Rogue Incursion and Metro Awakening. Although, my excitement has died down considerably for both.
Wheres the wanderer review ?
The psvr2 version of hitman is awesome! But, I also ran into this load issue, and I am very much looking forward to a fix for that.
@WaveBoy @lazarus11 We don’t have the capacity to review every game, sorry!
If I were to buy the Hitman collection for PS5, I know it comes with the PS4 (and inturn PSVR version), does it also come with the PSVR2 ver?
Can someone explain, if I get this game, if I want to 100% the trophies for hitman 3, does that mean I need to 100% hitman 1 & 2? Or are hitman 1/2 completely separate from hitman 3s list? Like it’s own games? Or are they DLC and I need to 100% 1/2 to get the 100% for 3?
@DylanP the platinum is H3 and there's separate lists for 1,2 and 2's expansions.
@AndyKazama no there is a £7.99 upgrade fee in the UK for the PSVR 2 version.
If anyone in the UK is interested Argos have Hitman for £21.99 with a code for 30% off as well bringing it down to just over £15 which is a bargin
@bindiana I saw that. Might pick up and upgrade. Never played this hitman and need vr games.
@DylanP World of Assassination sadly only has one platinum and that's for Hitman 3. The first two games are counted as DLCs. I picked them all up separately back in the day and they didn't have platinums then either. IO published chapters of the game separately so it failed the Sony criteria for a platinum. When they released Hitman 3 it was as a full game. If you want the plat it's all base game stuff in Hitman 3.
@LiamCroft
Sure, but that’s like saying you can’t review Astro bot or last of us. For some phenomenal games you just make time
@LiamCroft it's a high profile psvr2 game that vr owners have been waiting a long time for, after numerous delays ,its 12hrs long by all accounts , no time for wanderer, but time for a dead or alive dating sim 😂
So glad to see them updating this game. It's crazy since they never updated the PSVR1 and PCVR versions with any patches. Maybe they're seeing the amazing feedback of the game and wanting to really keep that redemption arc. Hope they continue updating to add more DLC, missions, and if possible, Freelancer.
Is there a guide that tells you if your version of Hitman will accommodate the purchase of the VR thing?
It seems like I have Hitman 3 PS5, but I don't have Hitman: World of Assassination.
Today marks the first day I've been to this website since this pack dropped. I'm struggling to want to do anything else but play hitman in VR. It's ridiculous how good it was even before this update. The QOL bits they've polished here make it essential.
However, I share the sentiment that not reviewing VRs big hitters on this site is a poor show. Not only does it fuel the incorrect assumption many have in the comments section of pushsquare that PSVR2 is dead. It's not a good look. It smacks of dismissive, journalistic laziness and makes its users look to other sites for info and reviews.
Now, what kind of website wants you to look elsewhere? Push Square, you're not the site I signed up for any more, sadly. And that's a shame.
Okay, so, I remember playing Hitman, the one with a racing track, but I don't remember buying the game. Maybe it was offered on PS Plus essential!?
Then, all the hitman games were taken away and folded into World of Assassination requiring me to buy that first and then the VR version.
So, I have to wait for a sale to gain access to buying the VR-patch unless I want to really shell out. Considering how little I play VR as a tired father,.I can wait. This title SHALL be mine, in good time.
Flippin amazing game in VR. Love it.
