Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided developer Eidos Montreal has apparently been pitching a new Deus Ex title to various partners and publishers — but no one's taken it on yet.
This is the story from Insider Gaming, who say that the downsized studio was (and possibly still is) putting this project forward on a regular basis. Sources say that potential publishing partners simply aren't willing to financially back Deus Ex as a franchise these days.
As the report points out, this Deus Ex title is not the same project that was cancelled when Embracer Group laid off close to 100 Eidos Montreal employees last year. It would seem as though the developer is trying to get back off the ground with a fresh take on the property.
It's interesting, because in a post-Cyberpunk 2077 world, we would have thought that Deus Ex would get another chance. If Eidos Montreal really is trying to get the series up and running again — especially with that aforementioned cancellation in mind — then the studio clearly believes in its potential.
We'll have to wait and see whether anything comes of this, but would you be up for more Deus Ex? Feel free to augment yourself in the comments section below.

Oh man… not gonna lie, I got extremely excited when I saw that Adam Jensen thumbnail and the words New Deus Ex! Let’s hope that they perfect their pitch 🙏
Please, God, make it happen!! We always asked for this!!
There is an opportunity here for someone to fund this game and turn a profit, but it requires a realistic budget and sales expectations. I love these games but it's clearly not a huge seller, akin to Dishonored and Prey. Hopefully somebody bites because I'll be there day one if it's as good as the previous games.
While I never played the original PC title, the two that came to consoles are great games, so I'd sincerely like to see a new Deus Ex come out!
I would love a new Deus Ex, but for some reason not enough people seemed to play it, so I'm not holding out much hope. Would love to be proved wrong though
Then.. I'll hope for Perfect Dark PS5 port~🤞
@Pushsquarian thats likely a day and date at this point
I would have thought a safer bet would be to pitch a remake of the original game. That way you'd grab the cyberpunk lovers and the nostalgic for the old game lovers more so than another random Deus Ex game.
Absolutely. There are a bunch of Deus Ex novels that would make great games. They've been tiding me over while I wait. I never understood why the games weren't more popular.
Come on that’s like Juliette Lewis asking you do wanna eat out
I really, really hope this gets greenlit.
I hate first person games. I tried Cyberpunk 3x but couldn't get into it.
But Deus Ex is the only exception to that. Really enjoyed the world and story of both PS games
@SystemAddict I feel stupid but I don’t get it. Is that a cunnilingus reference?
Currently playing RoboCop Rogue City and the game has serious OG Deus Ex vibes. It made me think that I would love a remake of Deus Ex but with such beautiful graphics. Real-time global illumination is really good for this kind of environment!
@Stevemalkpus no it was the jicks not the licks 🤥 come on brother you get it every night!
This is a terrible idea. There isn't a worse year to start making a Deus Ex game than 2025. Look back at the original- it's about chem trails, men in black, black helicopters- the idea behind Deus Ex's setting isn't "Look! Cool cybernetics!" it's "this is the world where every conspiracy theory is true", with 1990's conspiracy theories.
Do you really want to see the 2020's version of that?
I just want an end to that cliff hanger in mankind divided. I live in hope. Both HR and MD were brilliant
I think that with how popular CRPG's are atm, this could do well enough, even if it's a different take on it.
But, if i'm honest, a new guardians of the galaxy would be insane hype too. Such an overlooked game that is so effin good.
I'd like to see both back.
I’m not interested, but know many who would be. Too bad.
Hot take: Cyberpunk 2077 is just Deus Ex from Wish.
@Rob_230 (#18) Exactly this, brother!
Probably because of the hatred and opposition it would inevitably receive.
So sad. I'd take this over the lame extraction shooter being showcased on Saturday....
@Wiceheid honestly when you see the US politics now, 5 years after a global pandemic and today on the verge of being controlled by AI and Tech companies, it is pretty well aligned with the scenario of the original Deus Ex.
Deus Ex blew my mind on the OG Xbox. It was like a slightly more refined Shenmue in a cyberpunk setting. Shame nobody will bite on a unique, established franchise.
I never get the chance to play the first and second Deus Ex titles. But i finished Human Revolution and Mankind Divided which i really enjoyed my times with both titles.
But i guess this news is a confirmation that the series is officially 'retired' 😔
I LOVE Deus Ex and would love to see another... but lets be real, the last one didn't seem to sell well, which for a game of this size and budget isn't enough for investors, high risk. I'd love to see it though.
