Blizzard's given us some insight into its plans for Diablo 4, as the action RPG closes in on its second anniversary.
In truth, it feels like the game's lost a lot of the momentum that it built up with Vessel of Hatred — the expansion that launched back in October. Many players would tell you that the title's endgame grind is still lacking an identity, and that developer support has been inconsistent at best.
The reveal of this roadmap is quite timely, then. While it doesn't go into much detail, opting instead for a lot of rather vague bullet points, it covers the whole year, and reconfirms that a second expansion is on track for 2026.
Basically, there are three upcoming seasons, each with their own power gimmick and unique activities. On top of that, permanent additions like new bosses and dungeons are in the pipeline.

The question, though, is whether this is enough. It's entirely fair to say that Path of Exile 2 stole so much of Diablo's thunder when it entered early access in December, but even Grinding Gear Games' efforts have drawn serious scrutiny in recent times. Keeping live service action RPGs ticking isn't easy, we suppose.
What do you make of this Diablo 4 roadmap? Are you still hunting down the hordes of hell? Look towards the fiery horizon in the comments section below.

I might be one of the last still playing D4 but to be honest I still enjoy engaging in their seasons. Doesnt take too much to complete the Journey and I kinda like the gameplay (also I can play it while watching something on the TV).
The first expansion was a bit of disappointment, short and personally didnt like the new class (reminded me too much of the Monk of D3). Waiting for the second expansion until 2026... Blizz might loose most of their playerbase by then.
I maxed the last 2 seasons. Last one for the pet and the one before for the final armour. I still like the game and dopamine hit play style. I like the cosmetics a lot. The core gameplay is still very very rough though. It's still mainly push a button and watching everything die in the end game.
D4 was fun for first walkthrough until you completed it (around 80 hours) ...than it is finished... You even cannot replay it completely, because progress is account bounded and cannot be deleted.
@djlard You can replay game. I did replay all Main story when Expansion launched and pushed through to Expansion story. Maybe you could collaborate if you meant it differently.
I have finished every season for Season Pass. S7 even 2nd time finished Season Journey for pet. I tend to play each season 1-2 weeks. It is already for me almost 900h. Maybe I will squeeze 1000h for 2nd anniversary. I prefer D4 over POE2, for now. Tried POE 2, but it is still Early Access, so I will wait till it is "finished".
In general I enjoy D4 vibe. Hopefully they will implement more significant changes to existing stuff to refresh it more. Season Powers are getting old tho, and still next 3 seasons will be similar it that regard. I am guessing that Blizzard will now know how hard it is to maintain such Live service game with meaningfull updates, especially when 1st year went to fix the game. But I am still Diablo fanboy. I have almost all Funko Pops, I have main goblets/cups Lets go, Diablo, come visit us in 2026...
I am guessing Diablo will apper only in 3rd expansion if that will be lit for development
Monologue over!
I have around 280 hours in the game and I still play it but I've jumped ship to PoE2 for the time being as I find it a heck of a lot better in all aspects apart from performance issues something D4 dosnt seem to suffer from. Still an awesome game.
@REALAIS You cannot replay story with same character on higher difficulty, only with new character on basic difficulty but map is already revealed.
I played through the D4 campaign and was happy when it was over. Now I'm playing POE2 and enjoying it much more, so much more in fact that I've already put twice as much time into that game than D4 and POE2 isn't even fully released lol.
i might be in the minority here, but the best ARPG right now isn't diablo OR POE2..... its Last Epoch. Once that drops on consoles I am going to be LOCKED in
