Cyberpunk 2077 looks outstanding on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it’s even prettier on the PS5. Of course, unless you’ve got a PS Portal and a rock-solid Internet connection, you can’t really take Johnny Silverhand out on the road with you – well, not right now, anyway.
If you happen to purchase the game on PS5 and Switch 2, dev CD Projekt RED has confirmed you’ll be able to transfer your progress between the devices, meaning you’ll be able to pick up your progress wherever you please.
It should be noted that you will need to own the game on both platforms to take advantage of this; the Ultimate Edition will retail for $69.99 on the Switch 2.
This feature was also available in the original Switch’s “impossible” port of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and it was pretty useful there too. Kudos to CD Projekt RED for committing to cross-save across its titles.

I won't be doing that, but neat.
I think the....generous to call it apathy, let's say, towards Switch 2 means no one really cares.
I was stoked for switch 2 until I saw they were going back to the SNES N64 game pricing model. Price of the system didn’t bother me too much.
Pretty cool when you know Cyberpunk's PS4 Trophies don't transfer to the PS5 version...
I already played through large portions of it on my Portal, thank you very much.
Cool. I've always wanted relive the good old days of the ps4 version of this game
@MichaelNau Some of the Trophies Auto popped for me when I first transferred over my saves it was pretty random but at least it unlocked 3 of the grind heavy ones.
Shame you can't transfer the whole game over...
At their prices !!!

Good for the three people that plan to play Cyberpunk on switch.
Oh wow, I hope this becomes the norm with cross-platform games. I couldn’t justify buying Cyberpunk again for Switch 2 when I already have an unplayed copy on my PS5, but this gives my collector brain just enough of an excuse to do it.
That's pretty neat. I remember transferring data back and forth between the PC and Switch 1 versions of The Witcher 3... which was actually slightly painful if I'd been playing the PC version for a while lol
@species No idea why you'd think it wouldn't sell well on Switch 2. TW3 sold well on Switch despite being substantially more compromised in terms of how the visuals and performance needed to be pared back. Plus this is a launch title, so it'll get a boost from early buyers hungry for new games to play as well.
Got a PS5 last year, and was able to import my Xbox Witcher 3 save files via their website, so I could play NG+ on my PS5 copy. Love how CD projeck red do this
Did they ever make ps5 pro update? I'm thinking of jumping back to the game, as I have never finished it.
So I would have to pay $70 so I can transfer my save to play a version with worse graphics and framerates? 😅 which PS5 player is going to cough up $70+ to play a game they already own and have played for years now?
@Bamila don't think so...
@Juanalf only guessing but maybe the ability to play the game on the go/bus/toilet/etc is appealing?
Was this the big "news" they were hyping last week?
Respect for CD Project for putting it on a 64gb cart too and not some silly key card!
Its bizarre, nobody has mentioned anything about the steam deck already giving that option...
Love the game but a switch version will be toilet compared to deck.
@Bamila I haven't heard anything about it since they tweeted "We currently have no plans for PS5 Pro patch" on Nov 20, 2024.
@OptimusPrime1 well, that sucks because I would not mind to play quality on 60fps, I remember the 30fps being extremely janky on base ps5 1,5 year ago. And performance mode looked significantly worse.
That’s actually awesome! Idk how great the Switch 2 sticks would be with a FPS, but I bet the Pro 2 controller would work nice in docked mode
The portal can stream games. If you have good connection(s) you get quite good quality gaming on handheld.
Sure, it might be bricked on air planes or trains/cars.
At any rate, I would love a PS5 on wheels in the future, if they can deliver within two years maybe.
Otherwise, Switch 2 might, in two years time, look more enticing.
Imagine an Oled version with a newer chip and some decent sales on the store. I would definitely use a handheld out of the house on the go. If Nintendo allows to download (not buy) from the PS Store that would be revolutionary.
Nice, I want this, I hope other games get this too especially indie, play 4K on ps5 and 120 fps on switch 2, buy the game on both console, one on launch or near launch, the other when discounted. Playstation portal is good but the screen isn't 120hz compared to switch 2, and it's annoying if my internet goes down for 1 or 2 minutes I disconnected from the portal.
Man it's kind of surreal looking at 1080p & 120 fps and 4K & 60 fps option on switch 2 metroid 4, finally nintendo is using modern hardware again 😃
It's a nice feature. Wish more game devs did cross progression. I play cyberpunk on the series x, pick up where i left off on the steam deck. Same with the witcher iii. Play on the series x, play it on the switch on the go.
Be nice considering my ps+ account is synced with my steam account, if it worked with GoTsushi and hd2. Play here, pick up there.
CDPR should be a role model for other developers and publishers
@Slippship Switch 2 is more powerful than your irrelevant Steam Deck, literally confirmed by everyone including Digital Foundry.
@Solid_Python irrelevant? Why the child like reply? Was only stating a fact. Only girls have Nintendo in my family, another fact.
Wow, and for just $70, how generous
