@colonelkilgore Congrats on that trio of plats. Do you only do them in trios now as one is just not much of a challenge any more? 😂

@render 🤣 cheers buddy. So a few months back I managed to get ahead of schedule, so I started working on the next months games. Eventually getting so ahead of schedule that the next months games were close to done too. So I started leaving one trophy on each game ready to pop on the first of the next month. I’ve already been working on Septembers plats for almost 2 weeks by this point 😅

@colonelkilgore
Equal parts impressive and insane.
Good going Colonel.

@colonelkilgore I am very impressed and that's the exact oppose to me. I'm still working on plats from months ago that I'm just not getting the time to play or playing badly when I do.

When I've had the chance I've tried that Never Give Up trophy on Dead Nation, which is one of the only ones I've got left on it, but got to round 7-8 and then been got by a cutter. Damn infuriating 😅

@render I found that trophy very challenging myself. Epic feeling that time I managed it though… good luck for the next time dude. Also, I still have it installed if you still need the mp trophies.

@colonelkilgore Cheers man. I actually got the wife into it enough to play the campaign couch coop in undead mode and I think she partly enjoyed it. I think there's just one more which is not taking any damage on a campaign so I'll see if she'll help me with that one as well. She did good though considering she'd never played before so perhaps she's just naturally good at Housemarque games

@colonelkilgore @render It’s impressive that you all are able to go back and do trophy mop-ups after moving on to new games. I can barely re-train my brain to do the bare minimum completion if I have left a game for a few weeks. Of course it depends on the game; some games you can jump back in better than others. But the fact that the last remaining trophies are typically the toughest ones, I’m finding that if I don’t get the platinum on the first run through a game, it’s just not going to happen. 😄

@Th3solution cheers for the props bud… but in all honesty I tend to leave a relatively simple trophy if possible, so I can just nip on, do-the-do and nip off.

@colonelkilgore That makes sense. So it’s not like you go back a month later after your muscle memory is all reset to something new and then have your go at the Ultra-Nightmare Permadeath Insanity mode! 😄

Well done on the latest plats guys!
@colenelkilgore Does FC6 have enemy scaling? I read that it’s not as bad as FC New Dawn, but it’s still there. I doubt I’d go for the platinum, but the last boss in New Dawn was so bullet spongy. As it’s on Extra I might just do the critical path, as I’d likely enjoy the campaign more that way.
—————————————————————————

So got platinum #5 for the year, in Scarlet Nexus a couple of weeks ago & its arguably the least likely game I’ll ever would’ve expected to plat.
I was looking for an anime souls experience & got Scarlet Nexus confused with Code Vein on Extra😂😅!
2 Playthroughs. 41 hours. First play through was around 25 hours. Second just over 8 hours. Rest clean up.
The combat is so stylish & just awesome (only way to describe it really). The way combos blend in together really is pleasing. Story is better than expected. Skip the cutscenes for the ‘bonding’ stuff- there’s no pay off & it’s just nonsense really.

This bring me to Dragon Quest XI S.
I’ve been stuck on 94% completion for some time now.
The final trophy I have to acquire is the all ‘character altering skins’…
Now the last one of course is a [insert swear] Bunny Costume locked behind the Super Secret Super Boss.
Beat the true secret boss, beat the optional super boss, but now this is one step too far.

Every guide suggests the same cheese method. This involves being in a constant state of invincibility which requires super expensive items & hope you don’t get hit with a status ailment.
The problem? The fight lasts well over 15min, boss gets 3 attacks per turn (can inflict ailments) & even at lvl99 can OTK the entire party. Getting into a state of invincibility requires the entire party to be able to move & there are no items that can protect with 100% certainty (ranges from 30-50%).

Pretty much pray to the RNG gods the battle.
The plan is to have a couple of goes a day against him & eventually I’ll get lucky.

After writing all this I’m going to do this tonight, aren’t I😅?

@Fight_Teza_Fight aye the enemies are levelled a bit… but nothing like the final boss in New Dawn thankfully. Congrats on Scarlet Nexus btw and good luck for that final Dragon Quest XI S shiny 👍

@Th3solution It definitely wasn't intentional to leave a difficult trophy to the end, I actually watched a video of someone doing the run and it looked easier than it actually is. That's why I'm so keen to stick around to finish it off now before I've forgotten how to play the game. It certainly worked with Sackboy as I just kept trying until I nailed it and could feel I was getting that bit further along each time. With this one on Dead Nation even though I'm still not getting much further the earlier bits are getting easier so should hopefully just come good at some point.

@Fight_Teza_Fight Congrats on your Scarlet Nexus platinum.

colonelkilgore

@render the real annoyance with that Dead Nation trophy is that each attempt lasts about an hour iirc.

@Fight_Teza_Fight Congrats on the Scarlet plat,I have that one downloaded and ready to go. It certainly looks better than Code Vein which seems to me to have the most drab and uninspired world.
As for Dragon Q, I have the plat in the standard version and only really remember a lengthy post game, perhaps that was required to grind up the levels for that boss.
EDIT. Just checked and they changed the fashion trophy for the S version, quite pleased I bought the bog standard version now.

@render Never give up.

render

@colonelkilgore Yep that's exactly it, so it's an hour invested each time to only fail 😩

@CaptD Never give up (never surrender) indeed 😂

render

colonelkilgore

@render you’ll get it bro. There is a slight rng in terms of enemies between each run… and eventually your best run will sync-up with a favourable enemy spawn.

Been slowly chipping away at Devil May Cry 1's Platinum over the past 3 weeks (currently at 68% completion) and wasn't really going to talk about it until I got it finished but man: Dante Must Die is sucking the absolute soul out of me.

It's not even like it's that much harder than the previous difficulty since a lot of the changes in Hard Mode are carried over into DMD. My main issue has been with the boss fights; they take such little damage and can easily kill you in about 4-5 hits now, it's absolutely ridiculous. I've never been a major fan of harder versions of existing bosses just being the same boss but with inflated health/damage numbers and having Nelo Angelo's 5-hit sword combo kill you from full health instantly is definitely not making that apprehension go away any time soon 😡

@colonelkilgore ... And not to be outdone: 😋

#175 Endling (PS5)
#176 Endling (PS4)
#177 Helldivers (PS4)

(Though kind of lying as I got the first Endling one a couple of days back.)

Wow that Helldivers platinum... Possibly the longest time I've ever taken to get as I got my first three trophies on it in March 2016, went back and played it a bit more seriously in spring 2020 and finally went back to finish the list starting in May this year. Probably wouldn't have bothered except I saw it mentioned in the boost thread and decided to see if I remembered how to play it. Then found some guides and info on the trophies I thought would be trickiest and with them out of the way it was just the massive grind for xp and kills. Platinum Trophy has a 0.7% completion so fairly happy to join the elite on this one.

@render
Unsurprisingly that one was toughest for me on Dead Nation too. To echo what the guys have said, keep at it and you'll get there - if I managed it then I've no doubt you can.

@Fight_Teza_Fight
Well done on the Scarlet Nexus completion, looks like an interesting game. And good luck with your Dragon Quest mission. I will say a prayer to RNG-sus for you.
