MidnightDragonDX

Got #103 with Unpacking (PS5). I did the PS4 version as #82.

Finally cracked that Dead Nation nut and got #65 last night. The run that I did it on ended up being quite easy and I actually thought I'd got one more level to go, so you were definitely right about that RNG @colonelkilgore. Thanks for the support from all you guys on this one, I'm glad I didn't give up ✊

@render well done mate, a hard earned and well-deserved #65 👏

@render Great stuff on Dead Nation, I hope you enjoyed the game overall despite the annoying run repetition at the end..truly the definition of insanity.
It seems like I'm the last to obtain the platinum as it is still on my to-do list.

@colonelkilgore @CaptD Cheers guys, that did end up being tougher than I thought. I think I put 45 hours in all told so way beyond what the guides suggested. Still an enjoyable game though and I can see similar themes with the game play between Dead Nation, Nex Machina, Resogun and Returnal.

Good effort. We knew you had it in you.

#179 PGA Tour 2k23 (PS5)
It's in the hole.
Pretty straightforward list to complete - only needed one online match and just about everything else done in career mode. Think it's my 30th shiny of the year as well.

@sorteddan It's in the sand.
Well done on that, I did the MP trophy the other day. I played Tigger W and lost overall, although I did win the second hole, honestly I felt like swinging my virtual club at something.
I need to improve my putting skills.

My latest plat is Ys IX something Nox. Looks like a PS3 game and plays like one but I guess that is their old engine, their Ys games used to be on Vita as well but not Ys9.
Good game with charm but a step back from Ys8 imo and it felt more button mashy.
3/10 difficulty and about 50 hours (I did two playthroughs although speed ran the second).
Played via PS Extra, definitely recommend but only after playing Ys8.

#42 - Ratchet and Clank 2

Decent list, really appreciate not having one awful trophy like the PS4 game does. Skill points cover loads of different parts of the game so the variety’s there and it was fun upgrading the weapons. Last little bit grinding for bolts took me 5 minutes.

Bit annoyed I can’t get Far Cry 4’s platinum cause they put co-op and competitive multiplayer ones in the main set. Hate when they do that with a single player game, I did 100% of the map for zero payoff.

Congrats all on your recent platinums @sorteddan @CaptD @nessisonett

@sorteddan I enjoyed PGA Tour 2K21 earlier this year and will look forward to making PGA Tour 2K23 my next annual golf game next year (around the time of the Masters).

@CaptD yeah I noticed you were putting a fair few hours into this recently. I had heard that VIII was a bit better than IX… but that IX was still a good game. I’m looking forward to starting my first Ys game when I get the chance.

@nessisonett Well done on the Ratchet and Clank, totally agree about the trophy list.
As for Far Cry 4, I'm sure I read the other day that the servers are down anyway so the platinum is unobtainable even if you did want to play the coop/competitive modes.
I have a love/hate relationship with ubi servers, I like the fact that they keep them running for years (unlike, say Sony) but I hate the fact that they seem very temperamental. I always rush out to get the MP trophies first if I buy a Ubi game.

@colonelkilgore Yeah I was playing an insane amount of Ys 9, mainly because there are missables and in some bizarre fashion which I can't explain, I was constantly playing to get to the end and see if I missed any. The trophy guides out there are not very good and information is scattered over several web sites.

@sorteddan Congrats on the PGA Tour win, Tiger Woods has got nothing on you 😀

I installed Nex Machina on the PS5 at the weekend as I started playing that a while back on the PS4 and then put it down. For some reason I was still in for some twin stick shooter action after Dead Nation and it seemed like a good place to start. I'd got a good handful of trophies on it last time I played but hadn't done a complete Experienced level run so thought I'd start there.

Obviously some of the Dead Nation trophies were hard and I remember Resoguns list being quite a challenge, but Nex Machina seems to be that step up. By default you get 3 lives (unless you pick up extra lives as you go) and Experienced difficulty has 99 continues you can use to get through it all. By the time I'd finished I had 48 continues remaining. The 1CC trophy requires you to "Complete Arcade mode on Experienced difficulty without continuing"... what the... 🤣🤣🤣. Anyone ever attempted the platinum on Nex Machina?

@CaptD, I forgot to add you in for congratulations on your latest plat too 👏

@render I gave up pretty quickly with Nex Machina , I really should return to it but I found it too difficult, too twitchy for me and that is despite me having a number of Housemarque platinums or at least finishing them.
Alienation is fairly similar to Dead Nation gameplay and not too difficult but it is a long (tedious at times) plat.

CaptD

@render
Nex Machina is great at what it does, delivering a classic arcade experience updated for modern consoles but I have no intention of attempting the platinum! I've still got it installed and do intend to get back to it at some point but tend to fall away from it quite easily. think I left it at around 40% trophies. Maybe in my younger days I'd have had the determination and resilience to think about it but I've just got too much other stuff to be doing. Good luck if you're gonna go for it, you may well need it.

@CaptD @sorteddan Good to know I'm not the only one that baulked at the difficulty of the game. It starts off really fun to play and in essence is the perfect arcade title as I can see how if I was playing it in the arcade I'd happily feed it one more pound just to continue. At some points in the game there's almost too much going on to be able to use skill to outwit it, I'd need to learn each level and the order to take things down in to be at all proficient.

While my first thought was to totally discount the platinum I might just keep in on the boil to see if I can put in an hour here and there like I did with Sackboy. At least then I feel like I'm not committing all my time to something completely futile.

Ping...Chicory (on Extra, leaving soon).
Installed this nearly a year ago and earnt a trophy so it took me 10 months to complete.
Delightful underrated game, didn't know what to expect from this and I didn't really fancy just going around painting by numbers but it really isn't that.
Unfortunately the game is let down by quite regular crashes so upload your saved data fairly often although I never experienced data corruption but you never know.
Also a minus is the iffy platforming, a few times I would go YouTube as I was stuck, only to find I was right but I should be a couple of pixels to the left for example.
3/10 difficulty and 25 hours for me, 5 hours was waiting for a random Npc to do various things, be on the lookout for Pistachio ... I left it to the end and it cost me 5 hours of just wandering around trying to get the Npc to act (no kidding). Soul destroying And because of that and the collectathon I do not recommend going for the platinum....if you do/did then please tell me what you think/thought.
Definitely worth playing, underrated gem.

@CaptD
Congrats on the plat and glad to hear you enjoyed the experience (mostly). It's one I've had my eye on a few times as I do like me some little indie gems. Surprised to hear about its length as I assumed it would be a smaller few hour type effort.

“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”

CaptD

@sorteddan Cheers. It was probably 10 hours gameplay, 10 hours collectathon, 5 hours waiting for the Npc. On PS trophies only 4 people have voted (as I say underrated game), one said 11-15 (the guide author I imagine), two said 16-20 and one said 21-25.

And I didn't leave all the collectathon till the end, if I saw an item during gameplay then I would try and get it if I could (abilities can dictate what you can get).

CaptD

colonelkilgore

Congrats @CaptD, I’m surprised myself by the hours you had to put in… having always assumed it’d be a 5-10 hour thang. Still, sounds like you enjoyed it for the most part and that’s the most important thing 👍

Just started Call of Cthulhu played for about 10 minutes and arrived at my private investigators office, on the table there is a glass of Whiskey so I thought why not.
Thought I better take a quick look at the trophy guide to see if there are any gotchas that I need to be aware of, and .... "do not take a drink the whole game"

My journey into madness has started well.
