@Gamer83 @Rukiafan7 Yeah I agree. As an 80s baby I've been watching all this drama unfurl for a long time. This is all part of what George Carlin was talking about when he joked about the "****ifacation of America". It's all "politically correct this, I'm entitled to that, stop it I'm sensitive.... "
Just watch, one day we won't be able to speak without a lawyer present for fear of getting sued or going to jail for saying the wrong thing, and games will have to go through a series of Supreme Court rulings to determine if they're safe for public consumption.
If this is indeed meant as a reference to the Nintendo 64, there was a much simpler fix to this - change the flavor text to read something funny. Hell, they shoulda added a PSOne item, and made them both crafting materials that combined into some sort of epic weapon. A sort of comical "what if" nod. But I digress.
Fanboys and haters truly need not apply here, as that generation brought us some amazing games on both sides. Metal Gear Solid, Ocarina of Time, Resident Evil, Mario 64, Final Fantasy 7, and Goldeneye - just to name a few across both platforms. And everyone and their brother was playing Tony Hawk back then as well. Great times!
@themcnoisy Bahahaha! I like my friends and all, but SNES was my fave system growing up. That one ain't gettin loaned out.
I could lug a PS4 over, but moving a large console makes me nervous. I fear far more damage occurring should that fall during a carry, or get rattled via car transport, than any Nintendo system dropping.
I can't attest to other brands and drop damage other than Vita, decently strong there. But almost every Nintendo system I've owned has been through the ringer, and came out unscathed. 360 on the hand, toppled over, scratched the crap out of a disc, and busted the hardrive.
Hell there was an article a number of years back about the GBA being run over by a Hummer and while it was in pieces, still functioned. Lmao
Loving all the grey area gamers here! Glad to see we're starting to move away from the "This console is the best, no this one is best!" teenage stylized arguments. It's not the console that plays the games, it's the games, gamers, and developers that make the stories we experience and enjoy.
I'm still waiting on my Switch delivery from UPS, usually slow around here.
Let me start by saying I own PS4 Pro, Vita, Wii U, 3DS, and Xbox One. For the past 3 years, I can say I've honestly spent the most time gaming on my 3DS (extreme amount of great games on there), with PS4 via Vita Remote Play as a second. I played 98% of my Resident Evil 7 runs (all the way to platinum trophy) through Renote Play. I honestly probably played 30 mins on the big screen. Granted, I have a family, and my wife and daughter enjoy their tv time, plus I like being able to lay down in bed and game, so handhelds are my preferred choice. Having said all that, and being a long time Nintendo fan (still have my original 1986 NES, original 1990 SNES, and original 1996 N64) I don't believe Switch will dethrone my 3DS or PS4/Vita in terms of overall use. Instead, I'm absolutely positive it'll add to my growing backlog of 100+ games I intend to get through. One day... one day my dream will come true. 😆
I enjoy a vast array of game types, only disliking realistic sports, and realistic FPS. Over the top sports like NBA Jam, Mario Kart, Inazuma Eleven, or over the top shooters like Doom or Borderlands I quite enjoy though. I typically pick a game / game genre and focus on that for a week or two, then move on to whatever else is in my backlog.
I think the true beauty of the Switch is it's ability to have and create an amazing game experience with your friends whenever, wherever. Got a friend that can't get out much? Take the Switch over and play Mario Kart or Bomberman.... Got a family gathering, or a bunch of friends coming over? Fire up 1,2 Switch and duel it out.
Like the Wii, I think Switch will be the second console in most households, and that everyone is gonna want one, or end up with one.
@glassmusic MM is one of my fave series. I've got the legacy collection on 3DS, and 1-7 plus MMX1-3 on Wii U. I usually go through MM2 (fave original) one every few months. Same with MMX1-3.
@happypooya it was a choice at the beginning if i recall correctly. Said something like "do you prefer more story, more action, or more RPG?" Your choice there determined how the game played. Story was less fighting / easier fighting, action was less story, and RPG gave you more control over skill distribution / gear / dialogue (?)....
@glassmusic My thoughts exactly, and I'm the same age! 😆 A lot of us 80s kids paid the difficulty dues, and now have families and little time to game. My backlog is insane.... I actually sold off my 360 and PS3 with backlogs still incomplete. Oh well. Currently I've got like 40 games backloged on the PS4 alone. My 3DS and Wii U are also sizeable.
I like a diverse range of difficulty, and typically prefer to play games on Easy / Normal because, well frankly, i grew up in the NES era and have since paid my dues. Lmao!
That being said however, if a game is great and/or rewards me with something awesome, I'll go for the hardest mode as well. I 100% ME1-3, and just recently platinumed Resident Evil 7. That No Box run is blah. Lol
@Goob Yeah, I use to game on PC. Back when Oblivion first launched, I built my last custom rig just to run that game at max settings. Had an ATI Radeon 1980XT card on ASUS' first Crossfire mobo, with an Intel quad core 3.2ghz processor.
Sadly a thunderstorm fried the rig and I haven't been able to afford rebuilding one. But I have debated it numerous times. Maybe if I ever catch up on my console backlog... over 100, I'm a hardcore addict, 😆, and I own Wii U, PS4, XB1, 3DS, and Vita, plus I still have all my original Nintendo systems from when they released... only the NES is currently busted. That's my summer goal, replace the capacitors and 72 pin connector.
I'll boot it up tonight and test. Had FO4 and season pass since release, but only minorly got past getting back to Sanctuary after power armor. Been waiting for an FPS increase, plus it's not holding my attention as well as FO3 did. Or NV for that matter. Lol
@DiddyWahDiddy Thank you! Finally someone else that understands my plight with FPS games....
I can play almost any other genre of game for hours on end, but if it's an FPS / FPS camera, then I'm usually getting motion sick. Exceptions to this are slower paced FPS that run in 60fps. That seems to help, as RE7 isn't giving me any trouble, but DOOM I have to take a Dramamine.
I worked at a GS for a little over a year. I completely believe this. They treat their employees like crap, and def have unscrupulous business practices.
Originally we were to take any used disc no matter how scratched, try to buff it and resell. Wouldn't believe how many of those got returned. Numerous nights of working off the clock to keep the store looking nice and operable. In the end I was let go for giving an ex-store mananger a discount when I didn't know he was no longer working for the company. After all the nights, and having highest subs/pre-orders in the area that's how I got treated.
Meanwhile, a new manager they switched us to (thought he was temp) proceeds to steal a misshipped box of Rock Band 3 kits that were intended for Walmart. Smh....

Re: Narrative Difficulty Returns to Mass Effect: Andromeda for Those Who Just Want Story
@happypooya I never played anything but RPG style. It was my understanding that the differences were kind like this.
Story - Telltale Point N Click adventure almost
Action - Call of Duty-like, battle to battle with little downtime
RPG - Mass Effect 1 style.
