I saw this on my console for the first time yesterday, and I thoroughly hate it. They need to have a toggle, so the user can turn it off if they dont want to see it. Sony need to pay attention to PS5 users, and not deploy features that will alienate them.
In addition to my previous comment.. the reason they couldn't meet demand for pre and post launch PS5's was a shortage of chips due to covid. Once that was over and supply chains got back to normal, PS5 supply has been able to meet demand.
PS5 Pro has not had the same supply chain issues, so its really not surprising they are manufacturing enough units to meet demand.
It is more likely an indication that they learned their lesson from the original PS5 launch. This time they want to meet customer demand for pre-orders, and I would hope.. post-launch too.
They did sell out. The demand continued, so they manufacture more.
That sounds like good business practice, definitely not indicative of a flop.
The words 'live service' make me cringe. Done right like Astrobot where extra content is added at no cost is OK, but the model with micro transactions puts me off. I LOVE Horizon, am a huge fan. But I'm dreading to see what sort of live service it will be. If they want micro transactions, I will not be playing it.

Re: PS5 Firmware Update Annoys with Unwanted Deluge of Ads, News Feed
Great way to alienate users. This shows how out of touch and greedy Sony have become. Shame on them.
